The Little Calamity

Before letting Rayne chose a spirit artifact Arisa explained a few more things for him.

" There is two type of spirit artifact, those that come from monsters and those made from humans. Both has a ranking system depending on their strength, the system is pretty easy, tier 1 artifacts are low quality and tier 8 are the highest.

At the same rank monster artifacts are usually stronger but they often possess side effect that reduce the overall power. For example a monster artifact could have a power of 12 but it would boost both your strength and your sense of smell, making it so the boost to your strength would only be 6.

In comparison human made artifact only have good and focused effect so even if it only has a power of ten it would all go toward the strength boost. Monsters artifact also have a factor of randomness, even if you kill the same monster two time and receive a similar artifact their effects could end up being different, it's also hard to tell what effect they have so human artifacts are usually more popular.

As for the tier, a novice can usually bound with a tier 1 artifact and a soldier can usually bound with a tier 2 artifact. There is no limit to the amount of artifacts you can have but the more you bound with and the stronger they are the more it will slow your cultivation so don't be greedy even if you can get higher tier artifacts."

While saying this she brought him toward some spirit artifacts which were all tier 1.

" For now try to find a weapon you like, fighting with your hand is quite a disadvantage in fights between cultivator."

Rayne looked at her then he looked at her dad, he debated telling her about his black sword but he didn't trust Luther enough.

" Is there anything else apart from weapon artifacts?"

" Artifacts also have three classes, weapon, armor and augment. Weapons and armor are easy to understand but the augment class often have a passive effect that will always affect you and sometime they posses active ability like temporary transformations. With your agility, armors aren't so good so apart from a weapon you should get a augment class. If you don't like the effect of an artifact you can unbound it however if you cultivated it, it will lose all the energy that you invested in it."

She could see that he was hiding something but she didn't question him, she simply gave him an advice with a smile.

" The augment class are those with weird form, right?"

She nodded, weapons looked like weapons, armors looked like armors and only the augment type had weird form so it was easy to separate them. He started focusing on the weird ones and just by looking at the energy inside of them he immediately understood what they did.

' Help you in your cultivation, strengthen your fingers and cause your nails to grow at will, boost your instinct but reduce your capability to think, boost your eyesight, transform you into a werewolf for 10 minutes but weaken you for an hour.'

He searched through the unusual artifact with mostly worthless effect and chose one that he liked. It was similar to the one that Luther gave him, a bone in form of a chameleon and it's effect was pretty simple, by activating it the person's body would change colors to imitate it's surrounding, creating a camouflage.

With his ability to erase his presence it would be hard to detect him. He grabbed it and bounded with it.

" Are you sure you want an artifact from the chameleon of lie? They can be useful to hide your identity but they don't really have any battle power, without knowing it's effect it can be quite hard to use for a while too. Even if you can unbound it if you do it too much it can hurt your soul."

Luther was the one that gave him this advice, they didn't know the effect of every artifact in this place but by tracing it's origin it was easy to guess what they could do. The one he gave Rayne earlier was used by one of the clansman but due to it's worthless effect he quickly unbound it, giving it back to the clan while reporting in detail what he knew of it.

That's why he knew it's use but the one that Rayne took was a complete mystery, he was his future son-in-law so he planned to properly nurture him.

" Stealth is an important part of fighting, if you think it has no power you are naive. Now that I have a spirit artifact I can go and rest, right?"

The lack of emotion in Rayne's voice made Luther's eyes twitch from rage. He wanted to say something but it wasn't like Rayne said anything wrong. He nodded and brought the two out, he would have a lot of work to do, the more pressing matter was to rebuild the awakening altar, it was a vital part of the sect after all.

" I am have to ask of a favor from Reald, I hope I won't lose too much on the deal, sigh."

He watching his daughter being stolen away by a beast with an incredible talent and he could do nothing even after he destroyed one of the most important part of his clan.

' I guess I did earn a monster in the trade. If he can become at least a king the exchange would be worth it.'

He smiled wryly, being a father was hard but at least he had a few ways to feel better after he finished settling everything.

Arisa brought Rayne to his room which wasn't destroyed thanks to his effort. She made him sit on a chair, as much as she wanted to service him she was much more worried about his wounds so she went to pick up a few things to clean his injuries along with a few pills to heal him.

While he was alone Rayne looked at the ring on his finger, it appeared there after he left the alchemist's place, he couldn't remove it and without ki he had no idea what it was. He was debating to look at it but he decided to wait.

Arisa quickly arrived with everything, she made him remove his clothes, blushing while looking at his seductive body. She felt her s.e.x.u.a.l urge grow as she looked at him but she held herself back while she cleaned the blood off of him.

Once that was done she disinfected the few external wounds and she gave him a pill for his internal wounds, although she could heal him she didn't want to take any chance. Once she was done she tried to seduce him by massaging his lower body.

Rayne knew what she wanted but he quickly stopped her, he took her hand that was aiming at his member and hugged her.

" Arisa tonight I just want to feel your warmth. During the trial I went through an illusion..."

His voice was both gentle and sad, he started to explain to her what he saw but she stopped him. For her she knew that he would be safe and this showed her how much she mattered to him, all she could think about was to show him her own love yet she completely forgot that for him this was a real scene.

" I was watching over your trial, I saw everything. Although that wasn't the real me I am still sorry for hurting you like this."

She gave him some clothes to wear, if he stayed n.a.k.e.d his smell would arouse her too much. Once it was done she brought him to the bed and petted his head while snuggling against him. Both stared at each other, enjoying the moment.

Being with her like this really calmed Rayne, he burned her loving face in his mind while trying to forget the one that was twisted by rage and pain. Arisa had to fight her urges, even with clothes on his smell was still quite strong but she managed to change her mind when she saw how happy he was just by holding her.
