The Lord of the Rings: Lords of Middle-earth

Chapter 18 The grace of that arrow

"Casro! Let us know and let everyone interfere with the evil dragon and create conditions for Bard."

"That's right! Tell the boys... they are brave and protect themselves." Roland grabbed Kaslo, who was about to leave, and warned him uneasily.

"Tell them to pay attention to attacking the lower part of the left wing, where there are loose scales, and remember to tell them not to be sparing, but to use the best star silver steel armor-piercing arrows!" Roland looked at Kaslo's back and yelled a reminder.

"To be honest...you don't look like a lord...like an old lady with countless instructions." Bard looked at Roland and said with a strange expression.

"As the last lord of Lagrand... I am responsible for my people!" Roland said firmly.

"But where is Raglan?" Bard couldn't help but asked curiously.

"In the far east...she has died..." Roland obviously did not want to continue this topic.

When Bud saw Roland's silence, he thought he was being reminded of the sad past in his heart. He knew the pain of losing his home. But Roland kept silent because he couldn't explain it! Do you want me to tell Bud: Hi! Brother, the Raglan Empire appeared in Middle-earth at the end of the Fourth Era. Her ruling area included the entire Rune and most of Rovanian?

"I hope your archery skills are accurate enough, otherwise... we will have to kill him!" Roland looked at Bard and pulled out the Dragon-Slaying Sword.

"What is this?" Bard looked at the shining dragon-slaying sword in amazement.

"An ancestral weapon... This sword has killed countless giant dragons, and it is not comparable to flying dragons like Smaug!" Roland looked at Bard as if he was looking at a countryman.

"Let's go! Let's remove the dwarf spear launcher." Roland said suddenly.

"How else are you going to use this thing? How about throwing it?" Roland pointed to the black arrow in Bard's hand.

"Hey!" Roland and Bard struggled to hang the dwarf spear launcher down with a rope.

"Hide it well, don't get destroyed. If it's destroyed, we'll have no choice but to run away." Roland patted the heavy crossbow with four arms.

"I am fire, I am - death!" The angry Smaug flew towards Lake Town.

"The dragon is coming!" roared a Battanian archer who was watching.

"Fire the arrow!" several shooters around shouted at the same time.

"Boohoo~" The star silver steel armor-piercing arrow whizzed off its string and rushed towards the evil dragon.

"Clang! Ding! Bah!" Several armor-piercing arrows were bounced away, and only one lucky person hit the gap between two scales of Smaug.

"Ho! Damn ants! You can actually hurt me!" Smaug said angrily. Even if the armor-piercing arrow, which was about one meter long, penetrated the dragon's skin, it could not penetrate deep into the vital points. For the huge evil dragon, it was like being stabbed by a needle. It took a while, but it was a very embarrassing thing for Smaug. After all, the proud defense was ruthlessly trampled by the small human archers.

"Hoo~" The blazing dragon's breath swept over, and a pillar of fire that was tens of meters long covered the head.

"Escape!" Several shooters turned over and jumped off the wooden building. Some got into the water and some ducked into the alley.

"Launch!" Smaug passed over Lake Town, and a dozen shooters along the way saw the opportunity and launched an attack.

"Ang!" Several more star-silver steel armor-piercing arrows penetrated the hard dragon scales, and within three inches of entering the flesh, they lost power and hung on the dragon's body.

"What the hell! Get out! The skin is too thick! You can't shoot through it!" A Battanian shooter looked at Smaug who turned back and was about to dive, waving his hands to the shooters on the left and right.

"Boom!" As soon as their front legs left, the overwhelming dragon flames from their back legs flooded their location.

"Sir! This is too difficult to kill! Is this a flying dragon? This is even more shameless than a giant dragon!" Kaslo came back with a disgraced face. It could be seen from the black spots on his armor that this young man had just resisted. A dragon's breath.

"How about I go up and fuck him?" Kaslo whispered.

"Do you think you two dragons are proportional to each other in size? Are you going to be a target?" Roland looked at him lovingly as if he were looking at a fool.

"Tell the brothers! You can retreat when the arrows are empty!" Roland ordered.

"They will only add to the chaos if they stay. The armor-piercing arrow is too short..." Roland looked at the raging Smaug in the sky and sighed helplessly.

"Bard! Don't mess around!" Seeing Bard launch the heavy crossbow, Roland quickly pushed him back.

"Do you think now is the right time?" Roland grabbed him and shouted.

"We only have one chance! Bard!" Roland said seriously.

"We must let him fall! Think of your ancestors! Only if he falls will we have a chance!" Roland sighed.

"Damn it!" Bud punched the wall.

"Look, what have we done?" Bilbo said painfully, looking at the burning Changhu Town.

"Poor people..." Balin murmured softly.

Behind them, a group of dwarves sat slumped or leaned against the walls, all with expressions of pain. The fire in Changhu Town in the distance illuminated their faces. However, because of Roland, Changhu Town is much better than in history. At least no people died in the fire under the dragon's breath.

Thorin was the only one facing the lonely mountain and didn't know what he was thinking. Bilbo looked at Thorin, frowned and said nothing.

"My arrows are empty!" A Battanian archer who drew his bow frantically reached into the quiver behind his back to draw arrows out of habit, but unfortunately he found nothing.

"I only have 2 left!"

"Mine is gone too!"

"I have 5 more here, share them with everyone!"

Situations like this were staged all over Changhu Town. Archers who had fired all their arrows moved to the outskirts of the town, pulled out small wooden boats that had been hidden long ago from every corner, and rowed toward the lake under the cover of night.

"It seems that the archers have basically shot all their arrows..." Kasluo said helplessly as he looked at the increasingly sparse arrow light in the sky.

Smaug was still venting his anger in the sky, breathing wildly everywhere like a man of power, and the hot dragon flames boiled the water in many waterways in the town.

"Sir! All the shooters should retreat!" Kaslo found Roland and Bud.

Roland took a closer look and saw that there were only three Battanian shooters behind Kaslo. The other shooters must have either left or died under the dragon's breath...

"Bard! String the bow! Let's get Smaug's attention!" Roland patted Bard on the shoulder and led everyone out of the alley.

At this moment, Smaug had hundreds of sharp arrows inserted all over his body, and the skin on his wings was riddled with holes... Although he looked miserable, in fact, it was not even a skin injury.

"Shoot him!" Roland ordered.

"Ding Ding Dang ~" The crisp sound sounded on the scales of Swan, and Swan was immediately irritated by the power of the resistance. He turned his head and fluttered to Roland and others.

"Boom!" He fell heavily, and his heavy body crushed a row of houses. He walked angrily towards Roland and his group.

"Hey~"

"..." Several Badanian archers gathered around Roland and Kaslo and kept shooting arrows. Suddenly, several archers stopped at the same time. They touched their empty quivers and reluctantly picked up their long bows and drew out their long bows. A sword or your own armor-breaking hammer.

"Hey!" Roland drew out his Dragon-Slaying Sword and stood with a few people.

"Oh? Insignificant humans? You don't have bows and arrows. What should you do now?" Smaug had a mocking look in his vertical pupils.

"Are these people your followers? I will burn them to charcoal in front of you!" Smaug said ferociously.

Roland quietly waved his hand to send a signal to Bard who was hiding in the dark. Bard quietly launched the dwarf spear launcher. Smaug, who was walking towards him, did not realize at all that there was a tiny human under him shooting at him with a black arrow. Target him!

Suddenly Bard discovered the missing scales under Smaug's left wing. He was overjoyed and quickly aimed the black arrow under Smaug's left wing.

"For the glory of the lords of Riverdale! For humanity! Go to hell! Smaug!" Bard suddenly shouted.

"Let's go!" Roland quickly got into the alley with everyone, and the flames swept through the place where Roland and others were standing.

"Whoops!" The black arrow flew towards Smaug with a cold light.

"Ouch!" Smaug, who was originally breathing happily, suddenly became silent.

"Ouch!" The severe pain in his heart caused Smaug to struggle violently. He struggled to fly into the sky, and before he could flap his wings a few times, he wailed and fell heavily...

"He fell down?" Bilbo looked at Lake Town in the distance.

"I saw him fall with my own eyes!" Balin said excitedly.

"Smaug is dead!" everyone cheered on the observation deck.

"Well done!" Roland emerged from the ruins and patted Bud with a smile.

"He's dead?" Bud couldn't believe it.

"You did it! You regained the glory of your family!" Roland praised.

"It's a pity that Changhu Town was destroyed..." Looking at the fire that came into view, Bud sighed.

"But at least the folks are fine, right? As long as people are still alive, everything will be fine!" Roland smiled and got on a small boat.

"Want to go together?" Roland asked.

"Of course, wait for me!" Bud also jumped up.

"Oh! I almost forgot! I have to make use of Smaug's waste!" After letting everyone go, Roland ran towards Smaug's body. You must know that such a big flying dragon can produce a lot of precious materials.
