The New Shirou

Chapter 3 - 2: Origin and Element

Kiritsugu: "Okay lets see what you have to work with." He said while smiling. "Just put your hand in the hole on the machine and it will do the rest. To be honest I am not really sure how this thing works and its rumored that these were made by Kischur Zelretch Schweinorg so who knows where he got the idea from." He said while chuckling.

Shirou: "Sure thing dad. I am so excited to find out what I can do." He really was curious to see what his Origin and Element would be since he was not the original Shirou and had made all those changes to his body thanks to his wishes. He then moved towards the machine and placed his hand inside it. As he did so it lit up the room with bright light for a few seconds before calming down. On the panel on top of it there were two sections labeled Origin and Element. Under each section words began to appear. Under both of them as written the same thing. Creation and War. Shirou was immensely shocked when he saw this. He was an Incarnation for not just one thing but two. Kiritsugu was also shocked by this but for another reason. He had no idea what those Origin and Element meant or how to teach Shirou based on them.

Kiritsugu: "Well Shirou now that we know what your Origin and Element are we can start teaching you the basics. Once you get the basics down I can ask someone with more knowledge than me to teach you more advanced stuff. For now lets go to the Dojo to get started." He said as he packed up the machine and got up. "I can guess what creation might give him the ability to do, but what worries me is war. If he is so attuned to it then things might end up badly for him in the future. I will need to make sure he is ready so that when I pass on he can face anything that may endanger his life." He thought as he looked at Shirou.

Shirou: "Sure thing dad, I can't wait to learn everything I can." He said while smiling and getting up as well. "War must be the upgraded version of Shirou's sword Incarnation and that will give me the ability to use any Noble Phantasm. But why would I have Creation as well? That can be used in so many ways and is completely broken if combined with Shirou's Tracing. Can Gaia reject something that is brought into existence fully instead of just being a recreation? I can't wait to find out." He thought as he headed towards the Dojo.

Kiritsugu: "I will first teach you how to wake up your Magic Circuits and and how to turn them on and off. This will also let us know how many you have and I will test their quality." He said as they entered the Dojo and headed for the center. He then motioned for Shirou to sit down as he did so as well and placed his hand over Shirou's heart. He then began to pour a bit of Prana into Shirou and guided it around to feel for Shirou's Magic Circuits. "Feel my Prana and try to focus on it. Let me know when you have got it." He said as he kept circulating his Prana in Shirou.

Shirou: "I can't let him know I already can use my circuits and have awakened them so I will pretend to go along with what he says and keep my Prana inside so he cannot feel it yet." He thought as he quickly sealed his Prana and then followed what Kiritsugu said. "I can feel it dad, now what?" He asked after pretending to concentrate for about half a minute.

Kiritsugu: "This kid has monstrous talent. It took me a few hours to get that feeling." He thought in surprise as he looked at Shirou with a slight smile on his face. "Now try and feel if anything in your body is reacting to my Prana and once you get that feeling my Prana should react to that and I will do the rest." He said as he concentrated so he would not miss the reaction when it occurred.

Shirou: "Okay dad." He said as he did as Kiritsugu said and let a bit of his Prana leak from his circuits while making it react to Kiritsugu's Prana in his body. As he did so Kiritsugu felt the reaction and guided his Prana towards where it happened. When he did he found Shirou's circuits and began to feed Prana through them slowly to activate them.

Kiritsugu: "Shirou when your circuits activate you will feel it. I want you to follow that feeling and remember it. I also want you to think of something to trigger turning your circuit's on and off. It can be anything but it will always stick with you so make sure you have a good mental picture of it. Something simple always works best for this. Once you have that something pictured you will be able to turn off your circuits when I jump start them so let me know when you are ready." He said as he continued to run his Prana through each of Shirou's circuits to brace them for the jolt that was to come.

Shirou: "I already have my trigger. It is a hammer striking an anvil that represents everything I will create in the future." He thought as he focused and prepared himself for the jolt to come. Although his circuits were already activated this was still going to sting since it is like getting shocked. "Okay dad, I am ready." He said after he was prepared.

Kiritsugu: "Then here it comes Shirou." He said as he sent out his Prana in a wave through Shirou's circuits setting of a chain reaction that caused Shirou's skin to light up where his Circuits were. This caused Shirou to groan as it really did not fell that good. After the reaction happened and Shirou's circuits were awakened Kiritsugu removed his own Prana and waited for the reaction to die down somewhat. When it did he said. "Shirou use that mental picture you thought up earlier and imagine you circuits turning off as you do so."

Shirou: "Damn this feels like hot lead is being poured in my veins." He cursed as he quickly focused and deactivated his circuits. He had never thought his Prana would reject Kiritsugu's so intensely. "It's done dad. Now what?" He said in a slightly hoarse tone of voice.

Kiritsugu: "Now you will let your circuits rest for today to recover from the shock they just went through. In the meantime I will start teaching you the basic knowledge every magus needs to know. At lunch time we will take a break to eat and then I will start training your body. Tomorrow we will see if you can cast a simple spell." He said as he smiled at Shirou.

Kiritsugu: "Hold on Shirou. First there is something we need to find out. That is how many Magic Circuits you have and what their output is. I have another device that can test that now that yours have been awakened so wait here for a minute while I go grab it." He said as he got up to go get the device. He came back a few minutes later with a small device that kind of looked like a card. It was thin and black on one side while the other was white. "All we have to do is place this over your heart and it will do the rest." He said as he sat down again and put the card device against Shirou's c.h.e.s.t with the black side against his skin. It stuck there on its own and began to shine a bit as Shirou felt something scanning him on the inside. Then it dinged and some numbers appeared on the white side of the card before it detached from Shirou. Kiritsugu caught it and looked at the numbers. When he did he froze with a shocked look on his face.

Shirou: "What does it say dad? Also what do the numbers mean?" He asked with a curious look on his face. This caused Kiritsugu to snap out of his shock and look at Shirou with a bit of wonder in his eyes as well as a bit of suspicion.

Kiritsugu: "The numbers tell us how many magic circuits you have and what their output is. Usually there is a long list since each circuit can have varying amounts of output, but yours all have the same output so there are only two numbers here. One that tells us the amount of circuits and the other how much each can put out." He said while sighing and shaking his head. This caused Shirou to be curious what the numbers said. Although he knew the amount he had he did not know what their output was.

Shirou: "So how many do I have and what is their output?" He asked as he noticed Kiritsugu looked a bit weird.

Kiritsugu: "You have 100 circuits with an output of 200 units of Magical Energy each. Your maximum output is 20,000. I have never heard of such a monstrous amount in any being. Not even Dead Apostles or the head of the Mage Association have that much Magical Energy. It should be impossible." He said while looking at Shirou with a look of suspicion. "Do you really not remember anything before the fire?" He asked as he started to doubt Shirou's existence.

Shirou: "Is it bad that I have more Magical Energy? I really do not remember anything before the fire." He answered while looking down. He was not going to admit it out loud but the way Kiritsugu looked at him made him feel sad. He had hoped he would accept him for what he is. When Kiritsugu heard him and saw the look of sadness on his face he snapped out of his doubts and realized he had just questioned a kid who went through something very traumatic. He immediately hugged Shirou.

Kiritsugu: "No it is not bad. I am sorry if I frightened you. It just means we will have to be more careful with who I allow to teach you is all. It also means you will be very powerful in the future." He said while smiling and hugging Shirou. This caused Shirou to smile as well and relax. He had grown up an orphan in his last world and never had a family so he really wanted one in this world. "Now lets begin your lessons." He said as he separated from Shirou. They both then relaxed and Kiritsugu began teaching Shirou what he needed to know. They spent the rest of the day training and getting to know each other better before going to bed feeling like they had become closer to each other.
