The New Shirou

Chapter 6 - 5: Sudden Change

Over the next two weeks Kiritsugu pushed Shirou in his sword training and mastering Caliburn. Shirou's physical fitness was already above his own so Kiritsugu taught him how to control that strength and make it his own. After just a week Shirou had already completely mastered his new strength. This was mainly thanks to the abilities of all the other Shirou Emiya's he had. Since most of them had even higher stats than he now had it was rather easy for him to adjust.

After Shirou had mastered his sword skills to a higher level and gotten used to his physical capabilities Kiritsugu had decided to see how far Shirou's projection abilities went and he was once again shocked by his son. Any weapon Kiritsugu gave Shirou he was able to masterfully replicate. Even his own personal mystic code, his modified Thompson Arms Contender. This had opened up a world of possibilities for the rescue they had planned. Originally carrying weapons through the mountains to the Einzberns castle would have been difficult. Now Shirou could simply make them when they get there. He could also create the equipment they would need to bust through the stronger Bounded Fields the Einzberns had.

With Kiritsugu knowing this he had Shirou practice creating various modern weapons, explosives, mystic codes, and various other items they may need. Once Shirou had finished recreating them all perfectly Kiritsugu had decided to see if Shirou could recreate something that was unique. He had him try to recreate his origin bullets. To his shock Shirou easily did this and provided Kiritsugu with one hundred new bullets for future use. After that Kiritsugu got a crazy idea and went to bring a relic he had in his possession that had been a back up for in case the first summoning he performed for the war did not work. It was a fragment of red metal. That decision would forever change his and Shirou's lives.

Kiritsugu: "Shirou today I want you to try and see if you can analyze the structure and history of this fragment and then recreate the weapon it was from." He said as they were sitting across from each other in the dojo. He then took out a box with several wards put on it and opened it. Inside was a red shard of what looked like metal. As soon as Shirou saw it alarms were set off in his head because he was pretty sure he knew what it was from.

Shirou: "I am getting some nasty feedback from that shard dad. Are you sure you want me to try and recreate whatever its from?" He asked as he looked at the box but did not take it from Kiritsugu.

Kiritsugu: "What do you mean by feedback Shirou?" He asked in a wary tone of voice as he looked at the shard. "I do not feel anything."

Shirou: "It feels like blood l.u.s.t and something dark mixed together." He said after thinking for a moment.

Kiritsugu: "That is actually very normal, considering it is a fragment of a noble phantasm." He said as he relaxed slightly and let out a sigh. "I do not know what will happen if you manage to recreate it but for now lets give it a try. If at any point you feel like something is wrong then stop the process." He said after thinking over what Shirou might have felt and coming to the conclusion that it was probably just something left over from when it had been wielded by a hero. After all Heroes had often killed a lot of people and it was normal for there to be some residual effects from those battles left on their weapons that would have built up over the years. Of course it was normally impossible to feel those residual effects without an in depth ritual to call them up.

Shirou: "Okay dad. I will give it a try." He said after hesitating for a moment. He then used Structural Analysis on the fragment and just like he thought, he knew the weapon it was from. Although this one was a bit different from the one he already had. For one it had more of a history to it and had been used longer. It also had more power since it had been refined to a higher degree by Scathach after the death of Cu Chulainn. She had originally enchanted it so that when her disciple died it would return to her side as a memento to remember him by. After it returned to her she took the power it had absorbed from all the people it had slain over the years and used it to upgrade it to a higher level.

The entire process took one hundred years and during the process the spear itself had absorbed a part of her own power and gained a couple of new abilities. All of its previous abilities had also been upgraded. The new abilities it had gained were the ability to choose someone worthy of controlling the Land of Shadows and the ability to manipulate any shadow. Fearing that the spear would curse another to the same existence as herself Scathach had tried to destroy it but several fragments had managed to escape to the mortal world. Over the years those fragments had all been destroyed and this was the last one. But what Scathach did not know is that the spear would give one full control of the Land of Shadows and that meant they could come and go as they wished or even destroy the place if they wanted. It was truly tragic. The spear could have been the very salvation she had so desperately been looking for.

Kiritsugu: "Whats the matter Shirou? You have been staring off into space for a few minutes now. Were you unable to learn the history of the relic?" He asked in a concerned tone of voice. He was worried that the information may have been to much for Shirou and overloaded his ability.

Shirou: "No I was just shocked at the background of this fragment. I might be able to recreate the weapon it belonged to but are you sure you want me to? It belonged to a A+ ranked noble phantasm that was purposely destroyed because the creator believed it was to dangerous to keep around." Shirou asked with a solemn tone of voice.

Kiritsugu: " Do you believe that having it might harm us in some way? If so then no, I do not want you to recreate it." He said as his face turned grave.

Shirou: "I really do not know. The weapon itself will not harm us but it might bring trouble to us that I do not know if we can handle." He said after thinking about it for moment.

Kiritsugu: "Then the question is do you think it could help us rescue Illya? If it can then we need to take the risk." He said and then sighed as he looked like he was really tired. Shirou was sad to see him like this. Kiritsugu had been working himself to the bone these last few months to make sure everything was ready to save his daughter and he did not even know if it would be enough.

Kiritsugu: "Then do it, and anything that happens because of this we will face together." He said as he straighten his posture and a resolved look settled on his face.

Shirou: "Okay." He said as he stood up and so did Kiritsugu. He then moved away from Kiritsugu a bit and began to reconstruct Gae Bolg Scathri. Red light began to condense in his hands and the shadows all around the room seemed to become longer and pull slightly towards Shirou. Then with a flash of red light a red metal spear with a double edged, barbed spear head was in Shirou's hand. There were black lines that ran through the entire thing in random patterns that sort of looked like veins. As soon as it was fully manifested the room went dark and that darkness poured into Shirou. His body once again was strengthened, this time by five times what his current body was. This raised his general stats to all C rank and his agility to B rank. With his Mana being A+ rank his new body was monstrous. His senses went through a change and were enhanced by several times what they were. He also felt a small spark of light form inside his core. He knew what that was, he had just gained his own divinity and it was not weak. It was A rank and the domain it ruled over was shadows and death. After the changes finished the room returned to normal and Shirou now looked like he was a nine or ten year old instead of a seven year old.

Kiritsugu: "Shirou are you alright?" He asked worriedly as he regained his bearings and rushed over to Shirou.

Shirou: "I am fine dad. Although I think I need new clothes." He said while smiling wryly and looking at his shredded shirt pieces and tight sweatpants. He was glad he had wore a pair of loose sweats or they would probably be shredded as well. When Kiritsugu noticed what he meant he laughed.

Kiritsugu: "I am just glad that is all we need to worry about. When the room went dark I was worried something had happened to you but I could not move at all. It was like the darkness was holding me in place." He said as he smiled at Shirou. He was truly glad he was safe.

Shirou: "Yeah but its not over yet." He said as his face hardened slightly. "I will be gone for next few hours dad. I am currently being called and resisting. But I can't resist for long. This will only take a little bit of time since I am going to meet the creator of this spear. Do not worry about me and I will see you soon." He said as he smiled slightly and a black gate with two doors appeared behind him. This caused Kiritsugu's face to change as he instantly became worried.

Kiritsugu: "Will you be safe over there? Where are you even going?" He asked worriedly.

Shirou: "I will be safe. She just wishes to discuss this spear choosing me is all. I will be back when we are done talking. As for where I am going its a safe place." He said while smiling as the gate opened showing nothing but darkness inside and he began to be dragged towards it. "Be back soon." He called as he pushed off with his feet and turned around to enter the gate. He soon vanished along with the gate after he entered it.

Kiritsugu: "Be safe son." He said as he looked at where Shirou disappeared and then sat down to wait for his return.
