Her father knelt down behind her, a put his hand on her shoulder again. His head was lowered as if begging for mercy with a grave expression on his face. Thinking back to the days of his knight training alongside the young king, he knew all too well that it was impossible to win a fight against anyone of the wolf family. It was better to give up now before it was too late...

"I apologise for my daughter's imprudence your highness, please forgive her as she sustained a head injury not too long ago, hence the sudden change in personality."

"But daaaad..." She pleaded in a disheartened voice. She hated backing down.

"Shh..." He whispered in reply.

You were laughing just a minute ago, now you're telling me to shush? You traitor! I thought you were on my side!

"Oh, so that's what it was," he said smugly. "I suggest you get her head checked by a physician."

Her father's grip on her shoulder tightened as she tried to launch herself at him.

Stop holding me back! Let me at him! I will ruin that pretty boy face of his in the mud!

"We already have, your highness."

"Well, I suggest you find another because whoever it was, clearly didn't know what they were doing."

At least that's one thing that they could agree on!

Grr for a little boy, he sure knows how to rile up ones feathers! She had to take a few deep breaths in order to calm herself.

Why am I getting mad over this? I'm an a.d.u.l.t after all...

Thankfully the rest of the party continued on without a hitch. The ill-mannered prince sat alone at a table with two guards nearby, his arms crossed as he looked dreadfully bored the entire time. Well, no one was stopping him from joining in on the fun and games! It was his loss she supposed. Next came the somewhat late arrival of her best friend Finch, the only familiar face in a sea of strangers. "Finch!" She exclaimed going in for a hug, truly thankful for the distraction. Finch seemed a little taken aback, not expecting the sudden show of affection, though deep down he was kind of glad. It was the first time he had been hugged in a while.

"I-I brought this for you." He whispered looking up at her timidly with doe eyes as he held out a small box in front of him.

Aww how cute! She thought to herself. She had always wanted to have a younger sibling in her past life! If she could, she would adopt him right now!

She gently took the box from him and began to open it. Inside there was an adorable necklace featuring a chicken! Ahhhh! Cuteness overload! How did he know that chickens are my favourite animal!?

"Wow! Thank-you so much Finch! I'll cherish this forever!"

"D-do you want me to help you put it on?" Finch's own mother had asked for his help for this very purpose several times in the past.

"Sure!"

She turned around and held up her hair to make things easier for him. Funnily enough, she had fantasized about this very scenario in her past life where her imaginary CEO boyfriend would tie a million dollar diamond necklace around her neck. She guessed this will have to do.

"Finished!" Finch announced with his hands on his h.i.p.s, clearly proud of himself for choosing something that she liked.

It wasn't long before it became time for the birthday girl to cut her birthday cake. Her aunt handed her a fancy knife decorated with a ribbon.

"As per tradition, while cutting the cake if she touches the bottom with the knife, she must kiss the nearest boy on the cheek." Her aunt announced giddily as she fanned herself.

W-w-wait what!? Since when was that was a tradition!? What to do... Who should I kiss? Considering all of the party guests were gathered around one table her choices were endless. Well, I can definitely rule rude boy off the list. What about my papa? No, he betrayed me earlier! My uncle? No too old. My cousin? She looked over at her cousin who was currently picking his nose. Ew no, too unsanitary. I guess there's only one option left!

After cutting the cake, she walked over and pecked Finch on his left cheek, which was greeted with a high pitched squeak as he spun around to face her, his face completely red.

Out of the corner of her eye, she could see that rude boy had now stood up out of his chair and his mouth was wide open as he pointed towards her in shock. It was if he was trying to comprehend who would have the audacity to snub the royal prince. He then left without having any cake, muttering something about women being cheaters.

Looks like I get to have my cake and eat it too ~ She thought to herself as she took a bite of her delicious looking slice of cake. Mmm strawberry flavour!
