The Search For The Reincarnated Queen

Chapter 12 - Watching her Murder and Death

Macky snorted, beasts are known to be individuals who show off their physical strength and appearance assuming that their enemy will scowl away. They used to be beautiful creatures like vampires, but as they continue to stay in the darkness and play with fire, their appearances also changed. The majestic being turned to shameful and terrifying beings. It's a shame that the Queen once adored their transformations.

"Who are you, by the way?" Dane asks to break the ignorant action of the beast, who looks like he's expecting that they'd get scared.

"We work for someone... who despises you as much as we do. You look down on them as well, even telling them that they are humans too." The second beast looks around the library. Why did they choose to set this as their hideout? Aside from it's boring, humans gather here to collect information. Don't they care about the safety of those useless beings?

Rein flinched, "Then, that person is not a beast?"

The beasts looked at each other and nodded, "We don't have to answer that," they turned around as the leader goes back to his human form, "But remember, if you continue looking for the Queen, we'll make sure she'll never reincarnate again and she'll be gone forever."

They all walk away past the door. Jade was about to follow them but Rein stopped him. If their king asked them to stop and capture those beasts, he would've ordered Jade and Dane, the strongest among the servants, to do it earlier. But the King only listens from upstairs with Pen.

"The King wouldn't like to see us fight this early. We have to find the Queen first and we'll take care of them," Trace said and disappeared.

Eli watches them through the glass then moved a bit nearer to the cabinet and saw everyone disappear in a blink of an eye. Since she already saw something much surprising, she just breathes in and out to calm herself.

She's sure that nobody knows that she was there or else they might have already attacked her or even worse, kill her. She has to act as if she just arrived. She gathered her strength to make herself stand up and peeped to see if she's alone and ran to the door. She took a breath and pushed the door to fake her entrance.

As she walks towards the table, Willow suddenly appears from the bookshelf while holding a book, as if he's trying to look like he was just there.

Eli can feel her heart beating fast, how did he get there? Did he use the same power when they disappeared? Is this why sometimes they just appear out of nowhere? She didn't notice that she was standing frozen when Willow called out her name.

He looks worried and scared. He fears that she has seen the beasts that were here earlier, but Eli looks normal. There's no hint that she was here earlier. "Eli, is something wrong? Did you get your medici--"

"Yes!" Eli abruptly answered and arranged the chairs, "I'm good."

Whatever happened earlier supposed to be hidden. If she shows that she knew what happened, she doesn't know what they'll do to her even though she's their friend. Her hands shake as she pushes the chairs. If she won't calm herself, she'll probably feel dizzy and weak.

Willow walks to her and asks, "Are you sure you're alright? Is your stomach still hurting?" His voice was soft, and Eli can't help but feel better. His tone was like smooth butter with the sweetness of honey.

"Yes, I'm sorry. The medicine takes a little longer to work," Eli smiled at Willow. She just got to see who he really is, but she has to work with finding out that beasts are real too.

"I'll tell Rein that you're not feeling good, go on, go home and rest," Willow looks at the door, gesturing her to go, "Message me when you get home."

Humans are weak creatures, who don't have any powers and has a short lifespan. Willow can't help but feel annoyed and worried about them. They are irritating because they can't understand things they don't see nor have such as powers and will end up blaming everything to those who have the powers when in fact, it was their doing that sent them to hell. Yet, there are still few humans who, like Eli, are kind and good - and they deserve protection.

"Go on, Eli. It's fine," Willow said and put his hand on her shoulder to guide her to the exit.

The gesture caught Eli off guard. His touch was soft and warm and full of concern, she can't help but feel fluttered. "Thank you," she said as she walks to the door.

Rein arrived as she was about to leave, "What is happening?" He asks while looking at Willow's hand on Eli's shoulder. This is the first time that Willow touched a human since the Queen existed.

Willow took his hand away and opened the door for Eli, "She's not feeling well. I didn't want someone to faint," his voice was stern and defensive. It's as if he sounds like he hates Eli.

Rein smiled, a lot of things are changing since the Queen's death. It's true that they should look for her, but there's a chance that they won't find her for a long time, or maybe she doesn't want to come back to them. It's good that some beasts and vampires are learning to live among humans since that is what the Queen wanted - everyone to become one race, to love and accept each other.

"Go home, Eli, it's fine. Willow can handle the library and get well soon," Rein said and nodded.

Eli looked at Willow after Rein gave her permission to leave, "Thank you, Wil."

Taylan watches Eli walk away from the window. It was good that she wasn't in the library when the beasts arrived or else she might be dead by now. Pen and Macky are discussing the information about the beasts who visited them earlier while Taylan sips his tea.

"My lord, they are not connected to Sandra, they were a different group," Mack looks confused at Taylan. They were only doing investigations about Sandra, but a different enemy appeared out of nowhere.

Pen bites his lip while thinking, "Maybe they are connected to a person who's connected to Sandra and the beasts she's friends with."

Taylan nodded, "Do an investigation on that, Pen. Also," Taylan stands up, "Gather my the books on the castle and send them here." He stares at his grandfather's book on the table.

He read about his grandmother's reincarnation where she lost all her memories and powers. If his grandfather didn't take action, she might've been married to someone else, but what action he did was not indicated in the book.

Pen bowed after the King gave his orders, "I'll be going, My king," he said and disappeared.

Trace appeared with Jade and Dane, "Shall we help Pen in gathering the books?" Trace asks.

"The beasts are after their own kind to gather information about the note that was left in their headquarters, we are not doing much here," Dane said as they bow to Taylan.

"Go and help them, Jade and Dane," Taylan looks at Trace, "Trace, follow Sandra and know who's her closest connections are. We need to move or else the beasts may take the Queen from us."

Trace, Dane, and Jade nodded and bowed when Willow suddenly appears. Taylan felt a pinch in his heart after seeing him with Eli outside earlier. Why is everyone attached to the human? Even Willow who despises humans because of what happened to him and his human lover before looks like he's getting close to Eli. Taylan looks away from Willow in irritation. Why did Eli pat his head?

Everyone looks at Willow. The King never break any eye contact, he's never intimidated by anyone, but he looked away from Willow when he appeared. Did something happen between them? Trace chuckles because he's already sensing that something happened to Willow that might've disappointed the King.

"We'll leave now, My lord," Jade, Dane, and Trace bowed before disappearing.

Macky went downstairs to check on Eli and left Willow and Taylan together. There was a long silence between the two. Taylan went to hold the Queen's crown while Willow's sweating in anxiety, why did the King look away from him? Did he do something? Did he annoy the King in any way? Willow just stands frozen while watching the King stare at the Queen's crown with eyes that are on the verge of a tear.

He looked away to avoid feeling anger and bitterness. He took a deep breath but the thought didn't leave. It's the King's fault why the Queen died. If only the Queen never had to have her memories erased about her and Willow's relationship, she wouldn't fell in love with Taylan. If she married Willow, she wouldn't die.

Willow closed his eyes. He's committing sin to the King at the moment with his thoughts, he has to stop. Nobody wanted the Queen to die. Taylan doesn't know anything about her relationship before. He didn't know that the Queen was once Willow's.

"Find any doc.u.ment that shows the Queen's face or name in the castle, Willow," Taylan said while still staring at the crown. He moved a bit in a position where Willow won't see his pitiful tears.

"Yes, my liege," Willow bowed, he took a short stare at the King. It's obvious that he's mourning. His hands are shaking lightly when he held the Queen's crown.

"NO!!" Ben shouted as he wakes up. He is soaking in his sweat while his heart won't stop thumping. He sits on his bed and covered his face with his hand while remembering what his dream was about.

It's been two days since he started feeling unwell and his dreams grew darker and clearer.

He took a couple of deep breaths before replaying his dream on his mind. It was the same one as before where he and Eli look like they're in the past. Eli's wearing a violet renaissance dress while she was crying in front of him. The man behind him slowly copied his looks and later killed him. Since then, he became invisible to everyone. He can pass through everything, and nobody can see him.

But that person who copied his looks hangs around Eli as if it was really him. He can remember everything that happened after he died. He became a ghost and saw who killed Eli in her past life as a Queen. He clenches his fist. He knows who it is.

The face of the monster who copied his appearance is still a blur, but he can feel that his flesh crumbles with the thought that he died and was able to watch everything as a helpless and useless ghost. He wasn't able to save Eli. He watched her die as he slowly disappears as well.

His mind started hurting so bad that his whole body weakens. He laid on his bed while holding his head. It's as if his mind's about to blow. He can feel his bone shatter in pain. He can feel his blood turn cold. He pulls his hair in the hope that it'll ease the pain. But it worsens as the minutes' pass, and as his memories flow back from his past.

Starting from his birth to meeting the past Eli, dying, watching Eli fall in love with a familiar man which only ended up erasing her memories, watching her get married, and... watching her murder and death.
