39 – Episode 39-3

Tendrial sensed the threat and looked up to confirm Pepe’s giant palm reaching towards him.

She quickly jumped off Pepe’s shoulder and stepped on his body, coming down to the ground.

Tendrial went into the building in front of her and hid, peering out of the window to observe the monster’s actions.

Pepe jerked his shoulder as if trying to catch a mosquito and then looked around, searching for Tendrial who had descended on his body.

“Damn it… those damn necromancers…”

Tendrial muttered, taking out a small glass bottle from her bosom that contained the potion that resurrected him.

A potion of necromancy that brought the dead back to life.

Although he had purchased it from a black market, he had to consider some side effects, but he didn’t expect them to be as severe and fast as they were.

Outside the building, Pepe continued to scream and destroy everything in his path.

“I don’t know… it seems running away is the best option.”

Watching Pepe rampage, Tendrial made a short decision and stepped outside the building.

Pepe swung his fists in all directions, causing destruction everywhere.

Dust and debris scattered in all directions, obscuring his massive figure.

Not missing the moment Cyclops’ sight was blocked, Tendrial swiftly ran towards the palace.

Certainly, distracted by Pepe’s appearance, Terosa’s soldiers were overwhelmed by the forest dwellers.

Tendrial approached an orc who was breaking a human’s neck right in front of him and conveyed her message.

“Friend! Pepe is out of control. He’ll soon attack indiscriminately here too. So gather the members as much as possible and retreat!”

“Yes! Understood!”

Throwing away the human corpse caught in his grasp, the orc began to move to convey the message to the other members.

Tendrial also moved through the chaos, reaching out to the members and giving the retreat order.

In the midst of that, she came face to face with a dwarf who was being strangled by a Terosa soldier, on the verge of death.

She threw a dagger, hitting the soldier’s head.

As the dwarf looked towards Tendrial to express his gratitude, Pepe’s fist flew towards the dwarf and impaled him.

The ground shook with a sound like an explosion.

Soon after, another fist fell right in front of Tendrial.

If he had been just one step closer, he would have ended up in the same situation as the dwarf moments ago.

Unknowingly, Tendrial’s legs gave out and he slumped down on the spot.

“Forest!!! Everyone retreat!!”

A thunderous voice of an orc could be heard from afar.

Tendrial quickly got up and moved to try and save at least one more subordinate.

Meanwhile, Rosalia began creating a massive shield around the palace while Pepe ran wild.

It would take some time for the shield to fully form, but luckily, Pepe’s attention was focused on something other than the palace.

Protecting the palace was a success for now, but if they left the cyclops unchecked, it was only a matter of time before the city became a wasteland.

The queen, who certainly couldn’t just watch, temporarily called upon the soldiers performing the role of the guard captain and ordered the remaining troops and guards to prepare giant monster equipment.

It was a plan to endure the situation as much as possible with the giant monster weapons that had been developed day and night by capable scholars and technicians based on Hectore’s policy of subjugating giant monsters.

These weapons had proven their practicality in the king’s hobby activities dressed up as a policy.

There weren’t many soldiers they could handle until now, but it was determined that they were sufficiently usable because the manipulation methods weren’t difficult.

Otherwise, there was no other choice.

“Yes! Understood!”

Watching the soldier who turned around to carry out the order, Rosalia thought to herself.

“If Wolfgang was here…”

Unknowingly, Rosalia was startled by the thought that popped out like a whisper and shook her head.

“I must be out of my mind.”

With self-blame, Rosalia sighed and stared at the cyclops’ gigantic external eye beyond the shield.

Then, the horrifying monster seemed to sense something and turned its head to look at Rosalia.

“What are you looking at?”

Feeling uncomfortable with that eerie gaze, Rosalia grimaced and grumbled.

“Huh?”

For some reason, Pepe stopped causing a commotion and blankly stared at Rosalia.

And then, as if trying to say something, he began moving his mouth.

“Can the cyclops speak?”

Based on Rosalia’s knowledge, it was an impossible occurrence.

That was why she found it fascinating to see the monster moving its mouth like a person speaking.

“…Time? No, back, perhaps?”

The queen found herself deciphering Pepe’s mouth movements.

“Back… er… back… that…”

The Queen assumed Cyclops must have wanted to say something short.

He kept repeating the same mouth movements, blinking rapidly.

“Back… dying? Back-dying? No… that darned mongrel.”

Having interpreted it, a massive fist flew towards the queen from Cyclops.

-Thud

The colossal crimson fist collided with the shield, causing a tremendous explosion sound, but naturally, it couldn’t pierce the shield.

“Filthy monster. Do you think you can break through that flimsy shield of yours?”

While the shield remained physically intact, the shockwave knocked down the attendants standing beside the queen.

Yet, the queen stood firm, provoking the monster.

Failing in the attack, the monster started mumbling with its mouth again, and the queen attempted to interpret it.

“Bird? Sex? Sea? Sea… sickness? Ah… sunstroke?”

The queen quickly deciphered the slightly elongated word compared to before.

It was a familiar word.

The queen’s eyes widened.

“…Sunstroke?”

As the queen uttered the word, Pepe raised the fist above his head swiftly.

The sight was colossal, akin to erecting a tower in the heart of the city.

Pepe swung the raised fist down toward the shield like an ax.

With an enormous roar, the shockwave shook the building through the shield.

This time, the queen, unable to withstand it, fell flat on the ground.

-Thud

Unfortunately, her head hit the ground first.

Blood trickled from the broken bone, starting to obstruct the queen’s vision.

“Sun… sun… stroke…”

Rosalía tried to grasp onto the dispersing consciousness, but it wasn’t easy.

After a while, her vision completely faded to black.

“Ugh!”

Rosalía got up from her seat, cold sweat trickling down her face.

She found herself in the bedroom used by the kings of Terosa.

Thinking she might have had a nightmare, Rosalía scanned the familiar room and checked the calendar on the table.

“Again… Again?”

She had returned to the past once more.

It was her, the one who had faced betrayal from some council members and met her end at the hands of traitors and savage soldiers after losing the war against Radvia. But for some reason, just like when Theo had drunk the poison handed to him, it had become an event that never happened.

The only difference this time was that she had returned a week before the outbreak of the war with Radvia.

Rosalía confirmed a few things.

Through a conversation that included some questions with Commander Handro, she learned that Theo was currently imprisoned for treason. These were events that had officially been recorded in history during her second regression.

“So, what I need to do right now is…”

With her thoughts organized, Rosalía acted swiftly.

She summoned the council and announced the declaration of war against Radvia a week later.

Most of the council, already somewhat aware of the shifting political landscape, responded in support, disbanding while expressing their backing of the queen’s decision.

An elder council member referred to as ‘the Sage,’ without explaining his reasons, departed as an envoy to Radvia. Confirming this, Rosalía immediately launched a surprise attack on Radvia the next day.

Though the council members were taken aback by the sudden change in plans and protested to the queen, she disregarded their opinions and pushed forth with the war.

Having experienced the war before, Rosalía anticipated and outmaneuvered all of Radvia’s strategies, achieving an overwhelming victory in the continued battles.

Meanwhile, the Sage, who had left as an envoy, leaked confidential information to Radvia’s leadership about Terosa’s invasion a week later. However, due to Rosalía’s abrupt change of plans, the information turned out to be false, leading him to be falsely accused as a spy sent from Terosa and mercilessly punished.

Ultimately, Radvia surrendered not long after the war began, concluding in Terosa’s victory. Negotiations between the two countries were arranged to discuss compensation for the war.

Walking side by side down the corridor towards the conference hall, Handro asked the queen, “Do you truly intend to end the war through such peaceful negotiations?”

“Is that even possible, Handro? This is a message. It shows what kind of person the queen of Terosa is. And what happens when you turn such a person into an enemy.”

At the ominous words of the queen, Handro nodded in agreement.
