“This is a mansion that we seized after its tenants had left. It’s a very large residence, so there’s also a few servants here, so you should be able to live here quite comfortably, I think.”

Makoto explained.

But how did this house get seized, exactly?

I don’t really have any memories of that happening to this particular mansion.

But still… I have some pretty bad memories of this place.

“…Is something the matter?”

“…No, it’s nothing.”

Things that I didn’t want to remember were rushing back to me, and I started feeling a bit sick.

It wouldn’t be weird if my face was pale.

Makoto looked at me with a worried face.

I can’t tell her the truth, so I tried to dodge it as best as I could.

“…This place is too big. No matter how many servants may be here, or no matter how comfortable you say it may be, I would feel out of place here.”

“Oh really? But, for someone who wants to become the crown princess, I feel like you would have to get used to these kinds of environments…”

I wanted to tell her that I didn’t want to live here, but Makoto changed the topic to that.

It seems like she really thinks that I’m aiming for the crown princess’s throne.

Even though I don’t want to be in such a cramped position.

“I haven’t had any thoughts of being anything with Lord Edward, you know.”

Rachel seemed to be deeply in love with Lord Edward but, I’m not Rachel.

I just have her memories inside of me.

Even if I have her memories, I don’t know if I would fall in love with Lord Edward.

“I see. All right, then. Let’s give up on this place, then. There are still two houses left that we could take a look at, but they’re inspecting them right now, so it will take a little bit of time. What would you like to do?”

According to what she said before, the other two houses left would be in the local city.

Personally, as long as I have a place to stay, anything is fine. The capital seems to have more jobs than in the cities, so if possible, I would like to live here.

“There’s no need, I would like to stay in the house that you showed me earlier.”

“I see. Then I’ll make the arrangements so that you can live there starting today. Do you need to have the place cleaned? Should I have a maid go over there?”

From what I saw inside, there weren’t that many rooms.

There was a master bedroom for a couple. There was also what seemed to be a guest room or a room for a child. Perhaps someone had stayed there recently, but the place looked neat and there were only just two rooms.

If the place is that small, then I should be fine cleaning it on my own.

“No, there’s no need. I’ll clean it myself. Or are you perhaps a bit uneasy with leaving me to clean up the house?”

“Oh no, I wouldn’t suggest such a thing. But, just keep in mind that if the place gets too dirty, then we may send someone to clean up on our own discretion. Please understand.”

“Fine.”

It seems like she thought I was some kind of dainty lady who couldn’t even clean up after herself.

Well, if it were Rachel, that might have been the case. She doesn’t seem like someone who could actually clean.
