Translator: Darling | Editor: Coming soon…

No matter what kind of life you lead, in order to survive in the world, one needs to work.

Hopefully, there’s someone who would be willing to hire a foreigner with an unknown background like me.

“Welcome!”

“Good afternoon, I heard that you were looking for someone to work as a staff member in the kitchen.”

What I saw was a comfortable-looking restaurant where just about anyone was welcome.

The restaurant permeated a delicious-smelling scent. As soon as I entered, I saw a pamphlet looking for one kitchen and floor staff.

The restaurant was neat and tidy, it looked like it would be easy to work in. I had entered the restaurant and called out to the waitress that greeted me.

The waitress looked at me with a troubled expression.

“I’m sorry. We’re looking for male kitchen staff members. There’s a lot of hard labor in the kitchen, after all. Our restaurant is pretty busy too; so, we don’t hire females as kitchen staff.”

“…I… See…”

I’m pretty confident in my physique, but I wouldn’t say that I would be able to compete with a male when working on hard labor.

I thought that I would at least be able to peel or cut vegetables for them, but… They wouldn’t really hire someone to do just that.

And well, considering I look like a foreigner, it might be tough to get hired as a waitress too.

In my case, I didn’t look like anyone from this country. I clearly looked like someone from Yakumo.

The waitress didn’t ask me where I came from, but she also didn’t ask me to work as a waitress either.

If I looked like someone from just one of the allied countries, I might have been hired, but… As it is, I just feel helpless.

Generally, most stores would have men working inside the store, while girls would be in-charge of customer interaction.

And so, I couldn’t find a single place that would hire a foreigner like me for any job that would interact with customers.

I talked big with Lord Edward and Makoto about getting a job once I settled. And although not much time has passed since then, getting a job in the capital is proving to be harder than I expected.

“sniffle, sniffle, sob, sob.”

While I was walking around aimlessly, I saw a small child crying in a corner.

However, everyone was minding their own business and just walked past the child.

I probably would do the same under normal circumstances.

But, I kind of saw myself in that child. Just like how everyone is ignoring that child, no one would even give me a chance to get a job.

“…What’s the matter?”

To not scare the child away, I crouched down to talk eye-to-eye.

The child nervously raised its head and reacted with “ick…” and suddenly went pale.

I tilted my head in confusion.

I carefully look at the child, and it seemed like it must have tripped and scraped its knee.

The child’s ankles were also swollen and red, probably twisted its ankles. It must really hurt.

“No! Get away from me!!”

Due to the child’s injured leg, it just dragged itself a bit backward.

The child glared at me, but I still couldn’t leave just abandon it like that. I reach out to its swollen knee with my hands and gently touch it.

“I’ll heal you up right now, so don’t run away.”

I focused on the child’s ankle with my right hand to use magic.

I emptied my mind and thought of nothing but to heal the child’s ankles and unleashed magic.

The child’s scared expression shifted from fear to surprise.
