Time Traveling Hero

Chapter 14 - And Thus, The Unnamed Boy Proclaims...!

I found myself laying down on my bed, my phone in hand. The sun was starting to set outside, and downstairs I could hear my sister singing to a tune from the radio.

I jumped from out of my bed and rushed downstairs. Like last time, my sister came out from the kitchen, worried.

"Big bro, what's wrong?" she asked, a look of worry on her otherwise adorable face.

I smiled as I hugged her tight. "Don't worry about your brother here. I'm just going out to save someone dear to me is all."

"Someone dear?"

I released her before grinning. "Yep!"

She looked at me in shock. "What happened to you?"

I quickly put on my shoes before walking toward the door. "I've just realized what I need to do."

And with that statement, I left the house before going toward the backyard.

"Come, Raijin!"

Raijin appeared from the otherwise clear sky, and I leapt onto his back before giving him my next order.

"Now then, take me to the school, asap!"

And then we were off into the sky, going toward the girl I needed to save.

I understand the situation now, I thought as we were zooming along through the sky. In short, I was in one massive time loop, that encompassed a rather wide range unlike the previous two. I really don't know how long I've been in it, but I that strange feeling I felt earlier today must've been when it started.

This one is also different from the others, in that civilians were also present in here. I really didn't understand how exactly it worked, but according to Anna, normal people weren't able to get into one. Maybe this one was different somehow, I didn't really know.

However, the cause of the time loop was clear as day. I thought back to that idiot girl, proclaiming such embarrassing words like it was nothing. My face started to burn red, still abashed by her words.

Model 114141, or Anna as I've now decided to call her, had two conflicting views on how to handle my situation. The Pacifist Silver one, where she would wait patiently, as long as it would take, for me to come to terms with myself, and to accept my role. The Hostile Purple one, where she would drag me to accept my role, by any means necessary. The two extremes inside Anna caused her to create a time loop, where her two selves, Silver and Purple, could duke it out in a fight. And the cause of such distress?

I clenched my fist in shame, knowing full well what the cause was. It was me, I thought as we were about halfway to the school. I really can be so dumb sometimes. If only I could be more honest with myself, then maybe...

I shook my head. No, you can't change what's already happened. Not even I can do that. But, I can fix this situation that I had caused. The whole reason why I had jumped off the roof like that was because I had already decided, that I would save them.

And not just Silver Anna. Purple Anna as well. They are the same person after all, the only difference being their views. The worst case scenario was either one killing the other. That would effectively end the time loop, and then I would lose the precious chance I had given both of us. Call it naivety, thinking I can save them both, but I truly believe I can do it.

"We're here," I muttered as I saw the school. And then my surroundings changed, to a red sky with a black sun radiating it's dark light setting over the horizon. The cracks in reality had also been reset, much to my amazement. It looks like you can reset the time loop before the ten minutes you have to defeat your foe is up, resetting the timer. I don't know if that was truly the case, or if it was special because of what I did. Whatever the reason, I was glad to have the extra time on my hands.

I could see two streaks of light, one purple and one silver, fighting each other in the sky, crackles of their respective energy flying off like lightning bolts.

And then with a sudden boom that shook even the sky, they were sent flying into opposite directions, the silver one on the roof, and the purple one in the athletics field.

"The purple one Raijin," I said, and we landed next to the purple one. I saw familiar long silver hair, and I jumped off of my pet and walked toward Silver Anna.

"You're not dead. That's a relief."

She looked at me, her yellow eyes going wide. "How did you do that, resetting the time loop?"

"Don't worry about the specifics too much," I responded vaguely, looking down at my key. "Anyway, I have a plan."

"Please tell Model 114141 your plan immediately."

"You're Anna now, not Model 114141, remember?"

"Anna...?" she asked, tilting her head in confusion.

"Agh, I really don't have time to play around with you, as much as I would like to! I need you to be pin Purple Anna down in one spot long enough so I can speak to her."

"Affirmative, I will do as Master says."

"Didn't I tell you to stop calling me that!?" I said scratching my head before smiling. "Well, it's not as if I dislike you calling me that, so it's fine for now."

"You two done with your talk? My, how close you guys have gotten! Wrong! It's false, this boy is unable to do such a thing as 'get closer' to someone!"

Silver Anna and I looked toward the scathing voice, and there she was, the perfect replica of Anna, with her beautiful features. The only key differences was her long purple hair and her face, which was filled with anger instead of her normal emotionless face.

"Well, I am glad you let us plan there. You're like one of those anime villains who let the hero and their party plan out their attack, while also spouting their own plan."

"Hmph, you really are a weird one."

She glared down at me from on high and seemed pissed at her current predicament.

"I don't know how you did it, but you reset the entire time loop. It healed both me and 'me's' wounds, which is a real pain. Just as I was about to kill her too."

"Sorry, but nobody's killing anybody today," I said confidently.

"Oh, such arrogance."

I pointed at her before declaring my resolve. "I'll stop you, with only a single sentence!"

"Configure mode 0954."

Silver Anna configured her hands into long steel wires, and slashed them at Purple Anna, who weaved and flew backwards to avoid their reach.

"I must keep my promise to Master", were her final words before setting off into the sky, flying after her other self.

I ran back toward Raijin, who had been waiting patiently for me this entire time. "Come on, let's follow after them!"

And then we were off into the sky, flying after the two super humans. I wished I could do something to help, but I'm rather useless in the sky.

"Raijin, you can't attack or anything like that, can you?" He squawked in response, as if saying duh, of course I can.

He swooped down toward Purple Anna, who was busy dodging her other self's steel wires.

He extended his wings the full wingspan, and the lightning shaped pattern on his wings and body started to glow a bright yellow. With a screech, he flapped his wings full force, sending out a torrent of lightning filled winds directly at Purple Anna.

"Huh, what the hell is this!?" she roared out before narrowly dodging the winds.

"You are now mine."

Two of the steel wires whipped into her other self's body, causing her to sink down toward the ground. Silver Anna returned her hands to normal before zooming her way toward her Purple self.

"Gh! Damn you! Configure Mode 9581!"

A cannon configured itself from her stomach and shot off a blast of a silver energy at Silver Anna, with it only grazing her silver hair. However, that was enough for Purple Anna to steady herself and start flying again.

"Raijin, anymore neat tricks like the last one?"

He squawked in response, and this time his yellow c.h.e.s.t started to glow bright yellow as a ball of lightning formed from his open beak. He shot it off at the escaping Purple Anna, with it hitting her square in the wings.

Wow, my pet bird is actually pretty damn powerful. Definitely glad I didn't kill him.

With one of her wings out of commission, she was only able to go half her speed. That was more than enough for her other self to make a move.

"Configure Mode 5867."

Her slender legs turned into the barrels of two automatic guns, and she shot at the now slowed Purple Anna.

She was only dodging enough to avoid the bullets hitting her vitals, her legs getting shot up into a useless state, blood dripping down from her bullet filled legs.

"Configure Mode 8670!"

A beam of energy similar to the maneuver with sword formed around both her hands, and she shot out a stream of constant energy from them, increasing her speed to back to normal.

"Damn, just how many modes do you guys have?"

"Over 9,000 Master."

"Stop making references you don't even know you're making!"

"Affirmative, I will continue to fight."

And she shot off toward Purple Anna, who rising up into the now crack riddled sky. It had been about 5 minutes since the fight started, and another 2 to get here, meaning...

"We have 3 minutes to enact my plan, otherwise it's game over," I muttered. Of course, I could try what I did last time again, but there were no guarantees that would work a second time. I still didn't know enough about these time loops in order to go haywire in them, let alone use everything in my arsenal to the full extent of my abilities.

"Alright Raijin, third times the charm. You showed me two, now do you have a third?"

He screeched in response, and it felt like an of course screech to me. We started to climb higher and higher in the air, following both Anna's, who were clashing against each other while making their way up.

When we got above them, Raijin looked behind me and squawked.

"You want to me hold on? Okay I guess." I did as I was told and gripped on for dear life.

And then he rocketed toward the two Anna's, breaking through the sound barrier while doing it. His entire body started to course with lightning, but luckily for me I was unaffected by the surrounding lightning, Raijin taking care not to harm me.

"Silver Anna, move unless you wanna die!"

She followed my orders, but not before making sure that Purple Anna was in the line of fire. She managed to grab onto her and throw her right into our path.

Raijin extended his wings, his wings now completely covered in all the lightning that was coursing through his body.

"Squawk!"

He slashed her down with his wing attack, causing her entire body to course in lightning.

Purple Anna grit her teeth in agony. "Damn that bird! I'm going to kill you first!"

"Configure Mode 6701."

"Gh!"

Silver Anna transformed her hair into her a large silver rope that wrapped around Purple Anna, before securing her tight.

"Master, your chance is coming soon!" She yelled out as she zoomed back down toward the school, heading straight toward the roof.

"Damn it, you think I'll just let you do this to me?"

"Affirmative; that is indeed correct."

It was as she said. No matter how Purple Anna struggled, she couldn't get herself free from her silver bindings.

Silver Anna landed on the roof at full speed, breaking the roof underneath her before slamming her head down toward the floor.

"DAMN IT!"

Purple Anna got sent flying face first directly into the floor, easily breaking the roof and the floors underneath. The glass from the surrounding windows exploded from the impact, sending causing the entire school to creak and groan underneath its own weight.

"Go Raijin!" I ushered him toward the school where my chance had finally arrived.

We had about 1 minute left, and reality itself made sure to let me know that. The cracks in reality were close to shattering, and the sky had started to pulse a bloodred red as the time got closer to running out.

I landed inside the broken school, where I was met with the two Anna's; one restrained and the other not.

I walked toward Purple Anna, who was struggling to escape from Silver Anna's hair trap. I nodded in Silver Anna's direction, and she whispered some words of encouragement to me.

"Good luck."

Those were all the words I needed before I stopped at the Purple Anna, who was glaring at me.

"You damn fool, you honestly think you can keep my in this trap forever!? I'll force you to go into your role, all for the sake of the world! You think you can be so damn selfish that you can just up and run away from your duty!? Don't make me laugh! You're nothing like the previous Time Traveling Hero, who always tried her best, no matter what was thrown at her! She accepted her role with grace and poise, something that you can't possibly understand! SO, WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU CAN SAY TO ME THAT'LL HONESTLY SAVE THE BOTH OF US!?" she finished, her monologue now complete, laying her true thoughts b.a.r.e at me.

It was true, all of what she said. I could be selfish, although I wasn't selfish for the sake of being selfish. It was all for that one person, although now, well now things have changed.

I looked at her face, warped with anger, when in her purple eyes I saw another emotion, one that I wouldn't have noticed earlier. It was a look of pain and sorrow, similar to one that my sister had, the one that she never showed to others. The look that I absolutely despised.

I took a deep breath and sighed. I had already made up mind on what I wanted, since I had first met this silver angel of death. Everything after that was me in denial. Ah well, I guess I'll just go straight to acceptance, huh?

And the last words he proclaimed from his mouth marked the end of the Unnamed Boy's and the Silver Haired Girl's beginning.

"I'll become your Time Traveling Hero."

And the time loop was thus broken.
