Time Traveling Hero

Chapter 39 - Hiro's Hero Triumphs PT.1: Triumphs of Old: Unwinnable Odds

**5th Generation Hero, 1500 years ago**

I stretched out my tired limbs, yawning as I waited in a demolished building, scanning the perimeter.

I had gone alone from the rest of the group, keeping watch just in case the ATF decided to come all the way out here.

The grassy plains outside of the nearby city were laid far and wide in front of me, and in the distance, Mount Olympus loomed over, its peak covered by a constant coverage of clouds.

Why would they even send me to such a remote place? I thought as I adjusted my position, my iron armor pinching my skin. Is it because I'm a woman? I would've laughed at the thought if I wasn't supposed to be quiet.

"Yeah right, none of the men couldn't even pass the Trials, let alone the Tribulations that followed." I let out a sigh. Well, not like it matters. I just have to go through my Triumphs and prove them all wrong.

"Hero, are you there?" I glanced down at my walkie and picked it up.

"You know I'm not meant to be speaking."

"Sorry, it's just that I'm worried…"

I let out a small smile. This man, even from far away he still cares…

"I am fine. I can more than handle myself in battle."

"But…!" He suddenly got cut off, and I furrowed my brow. I feel rather uneasy all of a sudden…

I looked up at what should've been a clear sky, which was now replaced with red skies and crackling black lightning.

"A time loop!?" But that would mean that they came here! I scanned the perimeter once more, and I found my targets. Although, in this case, it would be an understatement.

I leapt out of the window I was in and landed gracefully on the grass. "This could be problematic…"

It wasn't just a side garrison marching towards me; nay, it was their entire damn army, complete with soldiers armed with the latest technology they had stolen from us.

"HQ, are you there!?" I yelled out as I ran across the field, trying to gain some distance. There was nothing but static in return.

"Damn, this field is way to open to have a battle." I looked ahead to where I was running towards, and in the valley I could a see a stone city, with tiny people and carriages going about their day.

I stopped, clenching both of my hands tightly. "What rotten luck I have." I couldn't go any farther, or they would reach the city, and that was the last thing I wanted.

I turned back around to the open plain and radioed HQ one last time. "The ATF have brought their entire force to where I am stationed. I do not know if I will get out alive. If you are able to hear my voice, please, protect the city."

More static, and I crushed the walkie with my pale hands. "Seems like I'll have to finish my Triumphs a little bit earlier than expected."

I rushed through the fields, until I was far enough away from the city to not have to worry about the battle reaching them.

I took off my cloak, and my shining red armor shined underneath the dark skies as I prepared for the worst.

"Oh, who's the lady in front of us!?" A man dressed in all black, with even blacker hair and pudgy white skin, leapt down from one of the mecha's. "You should know this ain't a place for a pretty lady such as yourself!"

I grit my teeth, my anger starting to boil. "You already know who I am prick."

"Oh, the bitch has a mouth on her!" He and his soldiers started to laugh, but not once did the man ever take his eyes off of me. "Why don't you find a man to take care of you huh!? Or even better, become my bitch eh!?"

Even now, his guard is up. If I could, I would just take his head right now. I took a deep breath and focused. Now isn't the time. "Are you going to stand there, throwing words around like children, or are you going to fight?"

"Please, as if one person, especially a woman, could stand up against us."

I could feel my power flaring up inside, but I kept it under control. "Very well then, it's all the same to me. You can just sit there as I kill all of you."

I pulled out my rapier, the blade starting to burn a bright red. "I'll burn you all to ash, in order to protect the people in that city!" Flames erupted from the blade, enveloping the blade to make it a double-edged sword.

The black-haired man laughed. "I see, so it's you! Let's nip this fledgling Hero in the bud!"

I can finally let lose. I let out a slash of flames, and the machines nearest to me exploded into scraps of metal. "I warned you."

I was just about to rush in when the man clapped his hands, and the ground beneath me started to rumble. I first saw a white hand, clawing it's way out of the ground, and soon many more of those hands appeared around me, more numerous than the army he had brought.

"Have fun with the undead. They quite like live meat!" He cackled and started to walk away, leading his troops around me and the undead he had summoned.

"Damn you!" But it was too late. Hundreds upon hundreds of undead popped up, some still with the skin, others just brown and white bone; all of them with glowing red eyes, staring hungrily at my body.

"I do not have the time to mess you with undead. All I can do is provide you rest from your forceful awakening." I stabbed my rapier into the ground, flames starting to erupt from around my feet.

"Red Waves."

A burst of flames roared up from the ground, washing over the undead over and over, until the plains around me were just a sea of flames.

"May you find rest in these holy flames." I turned towards the culprit and pointed my rapier at the man with black hair. "You're next."

"Well, looks like it didn't buy me anytime at all. Alright boys let loose on her! I of course, will join!" There was a chorus of cheers from the soldiers behind him, and I let out a breath of hot air. Damn, that took a lot more out of me than I would've liked.

I nonetheless got into my battle stance, using my right arm to steadily point my rapier at the enemy. "Regardless of the circ.u.mstances, I must win this!"

I rushed towards the enemy, using my newly gifted strength and speed to reach them in a single step.

"Flame Spear."

I stabbed my rapier, and a spear made of flames tore through the enemy lines, causing their machines to explode brilliantly, and their screams could be heard as their flesh burned under the weight of my flames.

I rushed headlong into the center of the enemy and stabbed through another mecha before finally reaching their center.

I turned around to see the black-haired man following me, a powerful undead monster besides him.

"Now then, let's fight to our hearts content! We live for battle after all! And if you die, do not fret, for you can live again!" He cackled, and amidst the flames I could see bodies that had been charred to a crisp rising up once more.

"Flame Valkyrie!"

I clad myself in flames, my armor now covering everything from the neck down. The flames surrounding my rapier which made it a double-edged sword now changed shape to make a whirling spear of flames, burning brightly even among the fire which enveloped the battlefield.

I leapt up in the air, and clashed my spear against the newly summoned Lich, which it took head on before getting sent flying back.

"Weak." I danced my way around an onslaught of two machines which shot a barrage of missiles at me. I stabbed both of them through the c.h.e.s.t, the fire causing the metal to melt on contact before bursting into a brilliant explosion.

"Flame Emperor's Strike!"

I leapt up in the air, and using my free hand, sent out a fist of fire straight into a dozen of the black-haired's men, causing them to drop their weapons and flee. For good reason, since a wave of magma erupted from the ground, covering half the battlefield.

"Take this you bitch!" I heard rapid machinegun fire being aimed at me, and the bullets melted before they could even pierce my body. Still falling down from my last attack, I made a wall of fire to rebound off of and shot my way towards the machine gun.

"Flame Arrow!"

Aiming my spear directly at the gunfire, I landed right in the center, causing an explosion of flames to erupt at my impact. I took my spear out from underneath the ground and winced, noticing the blood coming from my abdomen. It seemed that some of the bullets had managed to get through.

I grit my teeth. I have to thank the first TTH for the regeneration. The wounds quickly closed back up, and I turned back around to the remaining soldiers.

"Die!" A couple of grenades got thrown at me, and with them came blasts of energy that tore right through my armor.

"Gh!" I started to cough, and on my hand was the burgundy color of blood. Luckily, my regen could handle it, but at this rate, I'm going to burn out.

"You see that men!? She's weak to blasts and the like! Shoot her from far away and use the grenade launchers!" Damn that man! I glared at the black-haired man, who took quick notice of my weakness.

"We have her now! Attack!" I leapt back into the flames, and a barrage of beams of energy got blasted at where I was at. Too close. I need to close the distance.

"Flame Emperors Palm Strike!"

I leapt back out the flames and with my free hand used a palm strike against one of the mechas, which sent it flying back into another five, causing them to explode.

From the distance, I saw soldiers take aim at me using their energy guns. Blasts of energy started to get aimed at me, and I swiftly maneuvered through them all, before I realized my mistake.

The Lich had prepared a black ball of energy, probably made of complete darkness. And thanks to my dodging, I was directly in the line of fire.

Damn it! Not like this! Instead of running away, I charged straight at him, a ball of fire being made at the tip of my flaming spear.

"Dark Sun!"

"Hearth's Flames!"

I collided my spear with my own ball of fire against the Lich's ball of darkness, and the battlefield flared up in a light of Darkness and Fire.

I got sent flying back, landing straight into a large piece of metal. It hurt so much that I almost blacked out. I couldn't breathe, and the world was swimming through my vision.

I felt my regeneration at work, and I gasped as I was able to breathe again. Although, that was probably about it for my regen. My flames too had also started to flicker in and out, but I gritted my teeth and rushed headlong back into the battle.

"You're still alive after all that!? You even managed to take out my Lich! But you're done now, just look at you!"

"Shut up!" I roared out, and my flames roared back to life with me, burning even brighter than before. "This battle is far from over, you hear me!" I pointed my spear, now a bright golden flame, at the black-haired man.

"I swear to you, I will prevail on this day!" And with a shout of rage, I continued my onslaught of flames, burning and shining brighter than they ever had.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

By the time reinforcements came, the battle had already long ended. As the soldiers stared at the Hero, she was sitting underneath the bright gold sun, her crimson hair flowing in the wind.

As she sat atop a mound of charred bodies, her red armor blazing in the sun, her rapier by her side, not a single person could mistake what had happened that day.

In what is now known as the Battle of the Crimson and Black, Maiden Hestia went up against her brother Hades in a battle that lasted for two days. And when the dust finally cleared, her brother Hades had disappeared amidst the fighting, returning to the ATF having lost an arm, his forces annihilated.

Hestia, now known as the Crimson Hero, lost an eye herself, and she completed her final Triumph that day, in a battle that should not have been won.
