Time Traveling Hero

Chapter 41 - Hiro's Hero Triumphs PT.3: Triumphs of Old: Master Shot

** 14th Generation Hero, 1250 years ago**

I believe this is the place.

I crumpled up my paper map and crammed it in my pocket. It was rather surprising though, all things considering.

"Who would've thought it was right in the middle of a road, especially in this big city…" I readjusted my bow, a recurve longbow, golden in color, fit with a green bowstring. Inlaid in the grip was a green gem that shined brightly in the day.

Unfortunately for me, the way in was only accessible during noon, and it was then that foot traffic was the heaviest. Not to mention the many odd looks I got from the townspeople due to my strange attire.

"I'm surprised that no one has disappeared into it yet," I murmured. I started to make my way to the access point, my time limited.

My mission was to take out the time loop that had appeared during the 8th hero's time, and what ultimately led to her downfall. It was the last of my Triumphs, and I had yet to gain a title from the previous ones.

"But man does it suck to have to be followed." They were pretty bad at hiding their presence, despite the large crowds of people around me. And they were also getting closer…

I pulled out my pocket watch and cursed. "Drat, it's almost time." I quickly made my way to the point, maneuvering my way through the large crowd.

I spotted the place almost immediately, seeing an odd patch of grass growing in the center of the otherwise barren road. The most surprising thing though is that everyone avoided it.

Man, this was gonna be a pain in the a.s.s.

I reached down to the plant, and the moment I touched the grass, I felt an odd feeling overwhelm me.

I looked around me to notice that all but one person, the one tailing me, had vanished. And one look at the sky was I all needed to understand I had reached the place.

"So, it worked then?" asked a cheery voice from behind, and I rolled my eyes, realizing who it was.

"Why are you here Helen?"

She walked up next to me and gave me a big smile. "To be the one who records the last Triumph of course."

She had long black hair, tied at the end, and beautiful green eyes, the same color as the gem. She was wearing a combat uniform, and she frowned as she looked at my own outfit.

"What's up with that outfit?"

A red feather in my cap, a green and light gray tunic, and white tights to finish it off.

"I'm an archer, so I have to look the part." I said, getting back up before examining my surroundings.

"You've just been to the future too many times," she muttered, and she too also began to take note of our environment.

The hell? Large stone buildings rose up to the heavens, barren and stripped of whatever they might have. Grass now surrounded us, and many stone statues laid broken, scattered as far as the eye could see. It almost reminded me of the second Trial…

"I've never seen a place like this," Helen murmured next to me, and I had to agree. Add onto the fact that it was black rain was pouring from the heavens, with booming thunder and red lightning, you could tell it was a bona fide time loop.

I clenched my hands, which were covered by brown leather gloves. So, this is the place where the 8th hero finally met her end…

"You better not be lazy again. After all, that's why you don't have a title yet. At this rate, I'm going to have to dub you the title 'Lazy Hero' from now on."

I pulled out my bow, ignoring her rudeness. "You should leave Helen."

"Fine, but if you die, I'm not saving you." She scurried over to safety, still keeping an eye out to see how I was doing.

I zoomed in at a faraway spot that was glowing a bright white amidst the black clouds. It was massive, no wait, that wasn't it. There were just so many that it seemed to be huge. And it was getting closer at alarming rate.

What are they? Thanks to the clouds, I couldn't get a clear view.

I suddenly started to hear a strange whishing noise, and I quickly looked around me to try to find the source, but to no avail.

I looked back at the massive amounts of lights coming towards me, and finally realized what was going on.

"Don't tell me that's a…!"

I soon had my answer, as I watched an impossible amount of firepower being shot out, all aiming directly in my general vicinity.

I quickly bolted away, using the full extent of speed to grab Helen and run as far to the right as I could.

"Huh, what's happe—WHAT THE F.U.C.K!?!?"

I weaved through the buildings, and I soon felt the entire ground shake as they hit their mark. I glanced behind me and watched as a massive white explosion blow apart the bases of the stone buildings surrounding us. But the worst had yet to come.

The buildings started to topple like dominoes, crashing into each other at random angles, causing more buildings to topple over, sending large amounts of rubble flying everywhere, slamming into the ground at high speeds.

ShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShitShit!

"I DID NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS BULL-F.U.C.K.I.N.G-SHIT!" I yelled out, narrowly avoiding the collapsing buildings and the barrage of rubble being landing haphazardly everywhere.

I looked behind me, and the massive amounts of white lights had gotten way too close as they launched another impossible amount of firepower.

Another explosion, this time way closer, sent Helen and I flying through the air and into an open hole of a far building. I rolled and slammed into a pillar while Helen skidded across the floor before sliding to a stop.

I couldn't breathe, having gotten the wind knocked out of me, and I could see the world starting to fade to black. I pounded my c.h.e.s.t, trying to make my lungs work faster, and I finally breathed a breath of fresh air, gulping it up trying to make up for last time.

When I finally had my breathing under control, I looked over to see where Helen had landed. She wasn't moving, and I limped my way over there, realizing how bad the situation really was.

I rolled her on to her back, and it looked like she was still breathing, although roughly. She had blood pouring down her head, and it looked like she was suffering from a concussion.

"Damn it, where the hell's my bow?" I found it near where we entered from, it not taking any damage from the explosion.

I picked it up and watched outside, as the seemingly endless barrage of explosions rained down from the heavens, the buildings collapsing one on top of another.

"We got flown pretty far huh?" It should be a while before they reach us, but at this rate, Helen and I were done for.

I took in a deep breath and exhaled sharply. I guess I can't mess around like I usually do.

I propped up my bow, kneeling down next to it as I began to aim my shot.

I pulled back the green bowstring, and with it came an arrow made with green energy, already nocked.

"Damn airsh.i.p.s, with their ridiculous bombardment. How sure you gotta be, huh?" I glanced behind me, seeing Helen still knocked out, and I felt a surge of power trying to come out.

Well fine then, I'll relent this once.

The bow reached higher and higher, until finally it reached the length of the hole, about 25 yards.

I made sure it was firmly in place before standing up, the bow now a purple color, with a white bowstring.

I pulled back on the string, even farther then before, and the arrow grew larger as it changed color to purple. Lightning started to crackle as it filled the entire bow with its might.

I zoomed in on the enemy, glaring them down. I waited patiently for my chance as they made their way towards me, their never-ending bombardment getting closer.

I zoomed in even closer, and once I saw their fleet, a big grin appeared on my face.

I waited as they began to load their explosives, and the lightning finally reached the apex of its energy.

"THUNDERBOLT STORM!!!"

I let loose my arrow at last, and it hit its target, their flagship, in the next instant.

Their flagship exploded, and with that explosion came multiple arcs of lightning, hitting the surrounding sh.i.p.s. Soon, purple lightning began to crackle throughout the sky, and I watched as the scraps of their sh.i.p.s fell past our building, fireballs raining down onto the land below, until finally the lightning stopped, and the sky started to clear, revealing its blazing yellow rays of sunlight pouring down onto the stone city.

"It's over 8th Hero, known to us as the Surge Hero. May you find peace in the afterlife." I said, allowing the golden rays of light pour over me, and it almost felt as if I could hear her words of thanks from the rays of light, surging down from the heavens, free at last.

In the battle known as Heaven's Bombardment, Paris, with his witness being Helen of the TRTF, who he later married, with one arrow shot out of his bow, managed to annihilate the massive fleet of sh.i.p.s above the clouds.

For completing his last Triumph, he was known as He Who Brings a Storm of Lightning and Annihilates All, and is considered even today as one of the strongest hero's the TRTF has seen, and as such, was given the Title One-Shot Hero.
