Time Traveling Hero

Chapter 5 - Unnamed Boy Meets Silver Haired Girl PT.4

I walked down the stairs leading up to the roof, my resolve now strengthened by my encounter with Eris, my dear big sis, to make my way down toward the now awake girl. How he knew she was awake though, is yet to be seen.

I stopped in front of the nurse's office on the third floor of my high school, and froze as I put my hand on the door.

Even though she gave me the courage to go along with her idea, I still had my doubts on whether or not I could achieve it. I sighed when I realized what was happening.

"It's not like you to wimp out like this, you know that," I murmured to myself. I had always prided myself for being able to go into a situation and figuring out the solution almost immediately. But now...

"What's so different now?" Could it be because...

I stopped myself from going down that train of thought. No, let's just get this over with.

I opened the door and entered the room. Inside were rows of beds on each side of the room. Near the front was a desk for the nurse. And sitting up in her bed, wind blowing out an open window to send her silver hair flowing, was the beautiful girl Model 114141.

She was gazing at the setting sun, with her usual emotionless expression on her face. But, the scene invoked a sudden sadness within me, to the point of it almost hurting.

Stuffing the unnecessary feeling bubbling up inside back down into the depths, I walked toward her and sat down on a nearby chair at the foot of her bed. She looked at me, her yellow eyes whirring into focus as they realized who had intruded their unperturbed silence.

"It's you," she said softly, a sense of unease in her voice.

"Yeah, it's me. The unnamed boy," I responded.

"Did you bring me here? What happened to me?" I could sense the assault of questions I was about to be barraged with. Before letting that come to pass, I interrupted her questioning.

"Calm down. You passed out mysteriously, and I carried you back after beating the giant bird that came from the sky."

That confused her even more. "How did I pass out? And how did you beat the giant bird?"

"I tamed the bird obviously. How else would I have escaped?" Truth.

"Tamed...?"

I nodded in response. "And you probably passed out because you're a kuudere. You're not allowed to let emotions get the better of you. It was probably divine judgement or something." Lie.

"That strange word again. If you say so," she replied after hearing my quick explanation. "How did you tame the bird? I didn't even realize you could tame those monsters."

"Oh, that. Yeah, I just fed it the food from my lunchbox! Nobody, not even a blood thirsty demon bird from the sky can resist my sister's home cooking!" I said, grinning and giving her a thumbs up. Lie.

"Your sister's home cooking is quite good," she said, not sounding entirely convinced.

I decided to change the subject before I got bombarded with more questions. "In any case, that's not why I came."

She tilted her head at my sudden change. "What do you mean by that?"

I clenched my fists as I turned away from the girl. I took a deep breath and breathed out a sigh of relief, relaxing my body. I then turned toward the girl, my mind made up.

But before I could say those words, I felt a warm hand press up against my cheek.

"Did I hurt you?" asked the culprit behind the sudden surprise attack.

I was stunned into silence as I watched her face. It still held no emotion, but that's not what I felt from the soft hand pressed up against my cheek.

It's so gentle, I thought helplessly to myself as I let her continue.

"That was not my intention. Please, forgive me." She bowed her head in shame as she apologized.

I felt a wave of guilt crash into me. I grabbed her hand and held it tight between my own.

"You're wrong!"

She looked up at me, confused.

"I'm the one who needs to apologize! So, why the hell are you-" my voice got cut short as I felt her hand wrap around mine.

"Because, my special friend told me that after people fight, it's only natural to apologize. To make up with one another, and move on."

This girl, this seemingly unemotional girl, still had a child's mentality on how to apologize. Thinking that it was also her fault, she did the only thing natural to her. In truth, this girl was...

It was at that realization that I couldn't bear it anymore.

"I'm, I'm so, so sorry. I provoked you, and yet, even now!" It was ridiculous, dealing with this girl. She really was starting to take my life outside of human understanding, my human understanding.

And to this girl, I was only able to profusely apologize, from the bottom of my heart. Because a girl such as this one really was my bane, my weakness, my kryptonite. I clutched onto her hand tightly, before taking a deep breath and setting my feelings, which were so close to the surface, under control.

I looked back at the girl. Still, I was met with that same unemotional expression, that blank stare. But, maybe there was more underneath the surface of this kuudere...

After I apologized to Model 114141 and completing my daily job, I found myself alone with my thoughts on my way back home, as usual.

These past 24 hours have had more of toll on me than I've had in such a long time. Ever since all those years ago, when my life turned upside down. If it wasn't for big sis, I probably wouldn't have made it to this point, I thought as I passed by the store where the first loop had occurred. This time, there were plenty of people around, going in and outside the store, going through with their daily, normal lives, completely oblivious of the fact that there were time loops and monsters, and strange kuudere's.

I found my thoughts interrupted when I slammed into a warm body. Refocusing back on the world, I looked down to see a pink haired girl on the ground, wincing in pain.

"Watch where you're going," I muttered before going around her, not wanting to deal with another girl today.

"Hey! You ran into me! You should at least apologize!" Her voice fell on the side of cute, but it was too annoying for me to like. In response to her outrage, I simply gave her the finger before making my way back home.

"Ugh! You little! Come back here!"

I dodged out of the way right as she was about slam into my back, with almost inhuman speed, for both me who dodged and for the girl who had tried ramming me from behind.

She slid to a stop in front of me before giving me an angry look. How she moved so fast was beyond me, but not so much for myself...

"Is this how you treat all fair maidens!?"

"Only ones I don't want to deal with," I said calmly, once again trying to move past this annoyance.

This time, something strange happened. In less than a blink of an eye she had made her way behind me, trying to pin me down on the ground. At the same time, a roar of wind pushed into me, knocking me off balance, right into her grasp.

Or so she thought.

I suddenly appeared next to her, moving at once again inhuman levels of speed, or at least that's what it looked like to fellow readers. I grabbed the annoying girl's arm, where she looked at me in shock.

"Are you, by chance...?" she asked, wonder filling her eyes. Knowing full well how dangerous that question was, I let go of her arm and continued on my way.

This wasn't the first time something like this had happened to me. Occasionally, strange occurrences would happen to me involving another person, or I would hear strange stories about freak fights and accidents. Honestly, it was a pain, and I also didn't know why it was secluded to just this town.

I tended to ignore them for my own convenience, just like today.

"Wait! What's your name?!" The girl asked, desperate to find something I didn't want to give.

I tried to move faster, because I had suddenly had a extremely bad feeling. And sure enough, that feeling turned to something physical.

"Well, my name is!" and before I could hear the rest, I covered my ears and ran the rest of the way home.

I arrived at my house out of breath as I opened the door to find one of the few joy's in my life.

"Big bro? Why are you out of breath? Did something happen?"

Standing in the hallway, carrying a laundry basket of clean clothes, was my adorably cute sister Luna.

I sighed a breath of relief before closing in on my sister.

"Huh? Big bro? What are you doing?"

I wrapped my arms around her before cuddling up to her. "Oh, you make just about any day just perfect, you know that!?"

"Big bro, I know that you love me, but isn't this a little much?" She said, getting squashed by my intense cuddling. I released her, and her face was bright red.

"At least warn me next time, so I can do the same back," she muttered, twirling her long auburn hair around her finger in angst.

I had to resist repeating the same maneuver on her again after hearing those words. "You're too cute for your own good, you know that?"

She stopped messing with her hair and looked at me. "Did you have a long day?"

I nodded in response. "Yup, su~per long!"

She picked up the laundry basket she had dropped in my haste to cuddle her. "Well, in any case, big sis is here today, so be sure to say hi. Also, who's the person at the door?"

Person at the door? Alarm bells rang in my head as bad memories swept my mind. I whirled around fast and rushed the person without thinking.

"Oof!" I tackled them onto the sidewalk and pinned them down onto the ground.

"Ouch! Hey, get off me!" said a familiarly grating voice.

I scowled and looked down. I saw short pink hair, and that confirmed my suspicions.

"Why are you here? Do you always stalk people who run into you?"

"You never apologized jackass, that's why! As if I would ever be interested in you!"

Ouch. That would've hurt if I had actually like her. Well, she didn't know that, so I decided to apply more pressure to my knee.

"Ow! Okay, I'm sorry, so please get off me!?" she asked pleadingly.

"Big bro, don't you know that it's not nice to hurt ladies like that?"

I immediately released her upon hearing my sister's voice. "Sorry, I just thought that it was-"

I looked over at my sister, who was standing in the doorway, shook her head before I finished speaking. "I know, but you didn't have to take it that far, did you?"

Well no, but I wasn't about to admit that. "I just had to make sure is all."

The pink haired girl, g.r.o.a.n.e.d as she got back up to her feet. "Agh jeez, all this work for an apology?"

"Maybe you should leave then if it's so inconvenient for you," I replied, urging her to hurry up and leave.

She shook her head as she put one hand on her hip and pointed the other at me. "As if! I'm going to make sure I get that apology, if it's the last thing I do!"

And suddenly she was getting dragged away by yet another person who appeared. He had dark brown hair, almost black, and he looked tired at the whole ordeal.

"Sorry for the inconvenience, I'll be taking this this trouble maker back home." He had a low speaking voice, which seemed to rumble with every word he spoke.

"That's no fair! I was so close! Let me at him!" She desperately tried to break free, but failed as he dragged her further and further away.

"I'll get you next time jackass!" she yelled out as she gave up trying to escape.

"Hmm? Are those two?" said a familiar voice behind me.

I looked over at Eris, who seemed to be watching the entire thing.

"You know those two?" I asked while getting up, brushing myself off.

"Yeah, they go to the same school as you." A mischievous glint reached her eyes as a knowing grin formed on her face. "They're more like you than you think lil' bro."

I scowled at her statement, knowing full well what that meant. However, although those two's stories are meant for another series, that wasn't the last I would see of them in this story, much to my disappointment.

Luna, watching the entire ordeal with wide eyes, helplessly looked up at Eris. Noticing her gaze, she smiled thoughtfully before ruffling up Luna's hair a bit.

"Anyway lil' bro, it's late. I cooked this time, so hurry up and get ready for dinner!"

After dinner, I had found myself on the couch, flipping through channels when Eris plopped down next to me before laying on me.

"Oye! You're heavy, you know that? Lay down in the other direction," I grumbled, trying to push her off me.

"Nope! I need to snuggle with my lil' bro sometimes too you know!"

Giving up on my failed attempt, I settled for a random news channel and put the controller down.

"So, how did it go?" my heavy companion asked, watching the news intently.

I looked down at her. She had gotten changed into pink pajamas, and her face was illuminated by the glowing T.V., highlighting her beauty even more.

I turned back towards the television, where they were talking about the weather now. "It went fine. It was troublesome, but it ended up okay."

She nodded in relief. "I'm glad everything went okay for you." She looked up at me and grinned before wrapping her arms around me and snuggling up to me, similar to what I had done to Luna earlier.

"I have a request for you. I'll tell it to you tomorrow though. Celebrate today's victory I say!"

"You really are troublesome, you know that?"

"But, you love me all the same don't you?"

Silence, then a reply. "Well, I can't deny that," I muttered, looking away, slightly embarrassed.

She snuggled up to me some more after that statement before we both went quiet.

Later on, my sister found us together on the couch. She put a blanket on us, before turning the T.V. off.

"Good night older siblings," she whispered quietly, before snuggling up next to Eris.

And so, after a long day for us all, us three siblings ended up sleeping the night away in peace.
