Time Traveling Hero

Chapter 54 - Hiro’s Hero Triumphs PT.15: Triumphs of Old: Family Feud

**25th Generation Hero, 1000 years ago**

-----------------------

Wind howled around the surrounding area, freezing everything over in a layer of ice and snow. There were no trees here, just a seemingly endless expanse of land on all side. The sky was covered by dark clouds, and snow fell from the sky.

He was messing with me.

There was simply no other explanation for it, why he had made his position so obviously known. If he wanted to, he could've been long gone by now, just like the others who defected from our organization.

There was no one else around, as far as the eye could see, as if he planned for it to be that way.

Well, it's not as if I didn't have a hand with that.

I too, didn't want anyone to interfere with this, hence why I came alone despite the protests of my comrades.

I started to walk again, where the wind was blowing the hardest, where I was sure to find that man.

Despite the freezing temperatures, I was fine, just fine thanks to my ability, and yet even I couldn't help but get chills.

I soon came to a stop, having finally found my target.

"Hey there, oh daughter of mine. I'm surprised you came alone, all things considering."

I hated him.

"How're your siblings doing by the way? Are they dead or alive, I honestly couldn't tell after the beating I gave them."

No, I hate him, so, so much.

"What's wrong? Anger doesn't suit you very well, although you probably inherited that from me."

I gritted my teeth, glaring at the man who was my father. He was sitting atop a mound of snow, his black hair billowing in the fierce wind, his skin paler than the falling snow. His pale blue eyes looked over at me, and he gave me a small smile.

"How's my only daughter doing, by the way? I know Cleo's dead and all, so you must be taking it pretty roughly. You two were so close after all."

"You bastard, how dare you sit there and talk about this so casually!" I yelled out, my body starting to shake, and I felt the power within me well out of control, the snow starting to pick up, howling around us.

"I think you should cool down and all, you're letting those emotions go out of control…" He trailed off as he lazily stretched his arms. "Remember what I taught you?" .

No, I don't want to remember any of it. That would only make what I have to do so much harder…

"Tell me." He perked up at those two simple words, leaning his head on his hand.

"Tell you what?"

"Tell me why, you did it…"

For a brief moment, the wind became so strong, that I couldn't see his face within the snow falling; but as quick as it picked up, it died down, and the man sighed, sitting up right now.

"You wouldn't understand even if I did explain, but if you must know," he said, his pale blue eyes glaring down at me, "It's because I hate [redacted]."

I balled up my fists, not understanding the meaning of his words. "Even those you would consider your family?"

"Yes, everyone." He narrowed his gaze. "Including you."

I took a deep breath, letting out a breath of cold air. "I see, so that's how it is."

"Snowstorm."

I raised my right hand, a whirl of snow accumulating at a rapid pace, and I glared at the man who was my father.

"Then I can kill you with no regrets!"

He stood up, grinning. "Atta girl, that's the way to do it!"

He flew up in the air, the wind carrying him upwards into the sky, and I threw the miniature snowstorm at him.

"You'll have to do better than that!" He yelled out, ripping my attack to shreds, and suddenly he was there, right in front of me, a loud boom telling me he had just broken the sound barrier to get here.

"Is this really the same daughter who's meant to be the next hero of the TRFT?"

I slashed at him with a sword made of snow I had just created, and he broke the sound barrier again, appearing back by the mound he was originally at.

"Hmm, maybe I'm going too fast for you?"

He's toying with me.

"Snow Halt."

The snow around us picked up, the temperature dropping even further, to at least -30 degrees Celsius.

The man looked surprised, and he let out a grin, as he simply waved his hand towards me, but I already knew what he was going to do.

"Snow Wall."

A wall of snow erupted into existence in front of me, stopping his blades of wind before vanishing, having done its job.

"You've grown stronger, how impressive."

"Shut the hell up."

I leapt forward, using my newly gifted speed and strength, to reach him in one leap, and I slammed my snow covered fist into his side, or at least that was the plan anyway.

"Ah, it's because of that thing then, huh?"

I gritted my teeth as I watched him simply grab my fist with his own hand, his covered in ice.

I've got him!

"Ice Wave."

I get sent flying backwards by a sudden wave of ice, landing on the snow, and I gritted my teeth, picking out the tiny ice shards that embedded themselves within me.

"That's a first, you've never been able to hit me before now."

I watched him rub his face, frowning. "And you haven't even used your other ability yet, how intriguing. You may actually be able to beat me."

Why!?

No, calm down, it isn't over yet. I felt the necklace around my neck, the green gem inlaid the center. Should I…?

I didn't notice, but he let out a chuckle as he looked down at me.

No, not yet, only as a last resort. I bȧrėly had time to train with it after all.

"Hey, you should really pay attention in a battle…"

I was bȧrėly able to react in time as I watched an ice hammer swing at me from the side, hitting me dead on as I get sent skidding atop the snow, gasping out in pain.

"S-Snow Skin," I managed to let out, watching the snow fall off from around me, and I quickly glanced around, trying to find him again.

"Was I mistaken? Can you actually do it?"

I swung around a great sword made of solidified snow, only grazing him as he flew up into the sky.

"Wind Bullets."

I knelt down and hid behind a shield made of snow, feeling the impact of the bullets rain down.

I need a plan. If only I could fly…

An idea popped into my head, a crazy idea to be sure, but at this point, I could care less.

I just wanted to keep him down on the ground.

I tensed up my leg muscles, controlling my breathing.

1

I felt the bullets continued to rain down onto me.

2

I felt the softness of the snow beneath me.

3

And then, I jumped.

I flew up into the air, high in the sky, heading straight for the man, who whistled.

"I thought better of you than that." He simply dodged out of the way, about to start another barrage of bullets.

But I wasn't done yet.

I twisted around in the air, making a small platform of snow behind me, and I dissipated the shield, grinning.

"Gotcha."

I jumped off the platform, nailing a punch directly into his solar plexus, sending us both crash landing onto the ground (I used him as a cushion).

I backflipped off him, wasting no time as I created an axe made of snow, and once I landed, slammed the axe down directly into his ċhėst, a stain of golden-red seeping into my axe.

I glared at him before catching myself, one look all it took for me to let go of the axe.

"W…well done… my only daughter…"

WHY!?

He had a serene look on his face as he gave me a smile that tore my heart apart, as the wind finally started to die down, the time loop we were in broken.

"What the hell?" My voiced cracked as I fell onto my knees, the snow axe melting away. "Why did you hold back?"

He let out a chuckle, coughing up blood as he did so. "You really are something else, aren't you?"

"I know you held back! You would always, always get angry when fighting, always!"

I felt my face grow warm with the tears falling down my face, and I yelled out my next question:

"So why!? Why did you hold back!?"

I felt his hand, his cold hand that I always found comforting, wipe away at one of my eyes.

"For a long time, too long, I was [redacted] [redacted]. You and the others are why I waited this long, so long for [redacted] [redacted] [redacted] [redacted] [redacted] [redacted] [redacted]."

Huh? "What're you talking about? You can't have been waiting that long for me, you're not even that old!"

"Ah, of course you wouldn't get it. One day, in the far-off future, you will understand." He sighed, coughing out more blood. "I was just, tired. [redacted], [redacted] [redacted] [redacted] [redacted] [redacted], [redacted] [redacted] [redacted] [redacted] [redacted] [redacted] [redacted] [redacted] [redacted] [redacted] [redacted] [redacted]."

"D-Dad?"

"Remember Khione, to always keep that anger in check, okay?" He gave me a warm smile. "Thank you, for finally coming back to me…"

"Wa-wait! Daddy, I don't understand!" The tears kept coming, unable to stop as I started to put the pieces together.

Why he had made it so obvious where he was, why he had held back during our fight, but-!

"Please, don't leave me! D-daddy!"

"Sorry, I made you do this to me. Sorry, you had to kill your own, father…" His hand grew limp, falling onto the tainted snow as the time loop completely broke, the sun gazing down on the foolish dad and his wailing daughter, both wishing for times of simpler days…

---------------------------

In the battle known as The Fight of Ice and Snow, newly appointed Hero Khione went after one of many members that had defected from the TRTF over the centuries, her father Boreas, known for his hotheadedness and quick temper.

The battle only lasted 10 minutes, a feat none thought would be possible against an opponent such as Boreas, known formerly as the Hand of Cold Rage.

For killing her father in single combat, using nothing but snow, she gained the epithet Snow Queen Hero, for usurping her father…
