Asmun’s face was still cold despite Eden’s shameless and absurd attitude.

A cold sweat dripped from Eden at the gaze that seemed to pierce her at any moment.

As expected, it must be difficult to convince him.

But there must be something she could still do.

No matter what anyone says, she saved Asmun today. Perhaps the thoughtless and one-dimensional Kiris thought things had gone awry because of her bizarre mistake.

But Asmun was clearly aware that she had risked her life intentionally.

This was something that wouldn’t have been done if she was Kiris’ underling or a threat to Asmun.

However, it would also be unbelievable from his point of view for her to help him for no reason.

In the end, Eden let out a sigh and took out her last card.

“Are you planning to attend Count Letton’s banquet soon?”

Asmun’s eyes gleamed frighteningly at her words. It seemed as if he knew her intention and wanted to threaten her.

Count Letton is the man necessary for Asmun’s plan.

But it was difficult to get an invitation to a banquet he was holding in secret, and it’ll happen in five days.

Since this was a secret event, the apprentice priest in front of him shouldn’t be aware of it.

“It’s a trap. Don’t go there.”

“…What do you mean by a trap?”

“The First Prince noticed that Your Highness needed him. The Count of Letton must have already sided with the First Prince.”

“……”

“I bet when you go to the castle that day, there won’t be anyone, only the traps made by His Highness the First Prince.”

Asmun’s face hardened at the confident voice.

Eden did not notice it and continued to speak.

“If you fall for that trap, you will be…”

Suddenly, Asmun didn’t listen anymore and drew his sword. Then he put it on Eden’s neck.

Eden’s words were stopped by the sharp blade that was sitting near her neck.

Eden was surprised and opened her eyes wide.

“…….”

Asmun was now glaring at Eden.

“I will ask you again.”

He asked in a calm and eerie voice.

As if not killing Eden was his last mercy.

“Who are you?”

This bastard.

A cold chill crept up Eden’s spine along with the cold iron touching her neck. It felt like her legs were going to lose strength, but she knew she couldn’t lose here.

Eden clenched her fists, gave strength to her legs and faced Asmun.

After all, the man in front of her is just a game character made by someone.

Thinking about it that way, she gained courage.

“Didn’t I say that I’m the one who will make Your Highness the Emperor?”

Asmun scrutinized Eden. Fortunately, the sword didn’t come any closer.

Eden continued without missing this opportunity.

“You will definitely need me.”

And she needs him too.

Eden clenched her trembling fists even tighter.

The two looked at each other with a sword in between them. The moonlight reflected off the blade, and Eden’s face was seen clearly.

Amidst the tension that seemed to tighten her lungs, Asmun finally parted his lips.

“Why?”

He said in a low voice.

“What does me being Emperor mean to you?”

And he asked an important question.

Everyone who acted in a certain way will have a purpose. So was Eden.

To convince Asmun, she had to give a satisfactory answer to this question.

Unfortunately, however, what Eden wanted was not something Asmun could understand. So she had no choice but to give this answer.

“I am just following the will of God.”

The only reason why she went to church when she was a child was to receive the gifts at the end of the events, hence

her consciousness was stabbed, but now she was not in a position to think about it.

At Eden’s answer, Asmun grinned.

“I’m sorry, but I don’t believe in God.”

Eden’s reason had been rejected with that statement.

This damn bastard.

Of course, she was afraid, but she also felt annoyed by him.

Feeling cornered, Eden swallowed her saliva.

“That statement is blasphemy.”

Eden acted as a faithful priest who was greatly offended by blasphemy. Nevertheless, Asmun did not blink an eye.

Looking at those scary eyes, is it really possible for her to gain the trust of such a man?

No, maybe she’s in danger of not being able to complete even the first quest.

When her heart started pounding as if she was standing at the death’s door, Asmun opened his mouth again.

“What are you going to bet on?”

“…Huh?”

“Let’s make a bet.”

Eden looked at Asmun in amazement.

The coldness in his eyes now isn’t as severe, but the sword that touched her neck had not yet been removed.
