4. She Likes Older Men

Translator: Snowball

Jiang Xinyue’s face turned pale. Qu Wan had always said things that embarrassed her before.

Jiang Xinyue had become Ling Mubai’s new girlfriend after Qu Wan was driven out of the Ling’s house, but she was a little surprised that Qu Wan remained sharp-tongued though she had been reduced to this point.

As Jiang Wenwen regarded Jiang Xinyue as her backing, she was eager to show her loyalty by defending her.

“Xinyue is too kind, so she has always taken you as her sister. If I were her, I’d slap you hard!”

“Pa!” Hardly had her voice faded away when she was slapped in the face with five finger marks left on it.

Feeing the burning pain on her cheek, Jiang Wenwen instantly flew into a rage. “Qu Wan, how dare you slap me?”

“Who else would I be slapping except you!” Qu Wan looked at her with mocking eyes. “You have the right to choose to be someone else’s lackey, but don’t try to slander people at will. Otherwise, even your master can’t protect you!”

Jiang Wenwen rolled up her sleeves and was about to slap Qu Wan in return, but she stopped when she saw Jiang Xinyue blink at her.

She was so furious that she had lost her mind just now. Now that she ahd calmed down, she remembered Qu Wan’s special identity. Even though she was down-and-out now, nobody dared slap her if they knew who she was.

Qu Wan’s father was the mayor of the city, so she had lived in ease and comfort since her childhood until her mother died and Mayor Jiang took Jiang Xinyue and her mother home.

Out of rage, Qu Wan cut off the relationship with the Jiang family and even changed her own surname. Since then, she had never set foot in the Jiang’s house again.

Even Ling Mubai didn’t know she was Mayor Jiang’s daughter, or he wouldn’t have kicked her out.

Watching Qu Wan walk out of the mall, Wang Zicheng, who had been tired of waiting, shot her an angry glare. “How come it took you so long to get changed?”

“Sorry, Mr. Wang. I promise it won’t happen again.” After teaching Jiang Wenwen a lesson in front of Jiang Xinyue, Qu Wan was in a good mood, so instead of retorting Wang Zicheng, he immediately apologized.

Wang Zicheng was still a little irritated, but now that Qu Wan had sincerely admitted her mistake, he had to hold his anger back. However, it didn’t mean he wouldn’t find fault with her later.

When they arrived at the restaurant, Wang Zicheng asked Qu Wan to stand outside the box on the pretext that she was not pretty enough, so she could neither get into the box nor leave the restaurant without his permission.

Now except for a few main courses, all the other dishes had been served, but the most important customer hadn’t arrived yet.

After a long day, Qu Wan was tired out and her stomach began growling. She swallowed hard watching the waitresses pass her with delicious dishes in their hands.

“Wanwan?” A familiar voice suddenly rang in her ear.

Raising her head, Qu Wan looked in the direction of the voice and immediately saw Jiang Zhendong looking at her in surprise.

She turned away expressionlessly as if she hadn’t seen him.

Everyone walked out of the box and lined up in order. “Welcome, Mayor Jiang!”

Without even casting a glance at those people who was greeting him, Jiang Zhendong fixed his gaze on Qu Wan’s face. They hadn’t seen each other for more than three years and he found she was even thinner than before.

Looking at her eyes which resembled her mother’s so much, Jiang Zhendong felt a sudden pang of sadness and he couldn’t help reaching out.

Everyone present was shocked when they saw Mayor Jiang touch a young lady’s face in front of so many people!

Some ass kissers immediately seized the chance to curry favor. “Mr. Wang, Mayor Jiang seems admire your assistant very much. I suggest you let her in for dinner with Mayor Jiang.”

Wang Zicheng didn’t care. Anyway, that woman had been punished. “Come on in!” he said to Qu Wan.

Until they saw Jiang Zhendong taking his seat, the others sat down on either side of him, and they deliberately left Qu Wan an empty seat next to Jiang Zhendong.

Without a word, Qu Wan sat down calmly, which made all the people widen their eyes in surprise.

Her hatred of Jiang Zhendong couldn’t be eliminated in a few words. In the past, she would have turned to leave at the sight of this man, but now things were different. After leaving the Ling’s house without a penny with her and fleeing the city in a panic, she had suffered a lot and now she was much more mature than before.

“Just having dinner with him, it’s not a big deal! Just think of him as a stranger!” Qu Wan thought.

Jiang Zhendong was pleasantly surprised by Qu Wan’s reaction. Ever since Jiang Xinyue and her mother moved into the Jiang’s house, Qu Wan had moved to the old town and lived with her uncle.

He had tried to make it up to his daughter, but Qu Wan was always hostile to him as if he were her mortal enemy.

She even threatened that if he dared come to her again, she would bring him to ruin by exposing his affairs with another woman in the newspaper. His daughter not only hated him but was ashamed of him!

Knowing that Qu Wan was a person of her word, Jiang Zhendong didn’t dare push her too hard, so he had to give up the idea of seeing her.

From middle school to college, the name in the guardianship column of Qu Wan’s registration form had always been Qu Jianguo, her uncle. It was also Qu Jianguo who had walked her down in aisle at her wedding.

Even when they got divorced three years ago, Ling Mubai didn’t know she was Mayor Jiang’s daughter.

As all Jiang Zhendong’s attention was on Qu Wan right now, he didn’t notice what other people were talking about. He put another piece of food into Qu Wan’s bowl with his chopsticks.

“You’re too thin. You should eat some more!”

Qu Wan looked up and only then did she see that Jiang Zhendong had grayed his temples.

Though she hadn’t seen him in person for years, she had always seen him on TV news. In her mind, he always looked young, handsome and energetic.

Watching his grey hair, Qu Wan lost in a trance.

She felt a twinge in her heart. Anyway, Jiang Zhendong was her birth father, who had brought her up into her teens.

With her head lowered, she put the food Jiang Zhendong had picked for her into her mouth.

Jiang Zhendong was even more joyful. With a beaming smile on his face, he kept piling food in her bowl.

Everyone in the box was stunned. They looked at each other, wondering what was wrong with Mayor Jiang. After all, he was usually the one to be waited on!

Wang Zicheng widened his eyes as well. Watching Mayor Jiang being so attentive to Qu Wan, he almost bit his tongue off.

“What?”

“It seems the honest, righteous Mayor Jiang is also an old goat and he even crushed on this sunglass woman who is a few decades younger than him! What’s more, the sunglass woman seems to have taken him as her sugar daddy!!”

What popped into his mind almost ruined Wang Zicheng’s cognition of this world!

“Now I know why this sunglasses woman always gave me the cold shoulder. She likes older men!”

It suddenly came to his mind that his father thought highly of this woman and he even arranged her to watch on him. Could it have been because…

Wang Zicheng took a deep breath.

“No!”

He decided to call his father after dinner. This kind of thing was beyond unacceptable!
