When A Ghoul Falls In Love

What is this feeling after seeing this destruction?

The mansion is gone. The woman has been taught a lesson. Devil is satisfied.

Wrath of the moon isn’t bad. After swallowing it, he is stronger than before. He wonders what else he can do. Nell is also getting stronger, but it has an adverse effect on the seal. Originally, the seal was supposed to break in spring. The spring isn’t here yet. However, the seal is getting weaker at an exponential rate. The seal won’t just unleash the memories. He has a feeling that something else is lying in the wait.

“I wouldn’t have been born if it wasn’t that bad.” Devil sighs, looking up at the sky with a lonely gaze. “I was born the day that boy died.”

He misses the moon, the night, and the changing skies.

“I don’t want to live in a world without the moon,” Devil contemplates about what Carmine had said to Siouxsie. Little Marshmallow doesn’t want to be king. What about Nell? Even if he’s born from her soul, he can’t understand her thinking process. What if her fighting spirit wakes up? If she gets angry, she would try to overtake the kingdom.

Devil doesn’t return to Lennix and Drace. He heads in the opposite direction. Since he’s out of the mansion, he should be sightseeing. Information is power. He can’t reveal the past to Nell, but he can help Nell and Little Marshmallow in other ways.

The city is impressive, lively under the unchanging sky. Devil misses the familiarity of K City. The only good part is that the air is throbbing with magic. This atmosphere isn’t bad for him. He needs to grow. Nell would need him to be strong later.

It’s strange that he’s missing that polluted city. Is it because of Nell? Not really. The moon is there. It hasn’t spoken to him yet. Nell doesn’t remember speaking to the moon.

She begged the moon that night.

Devil flinches when the memory comes back to him. Even though he can’t feel the pain, it hurts him gravely. He inhales sharply. It’s a weight that he must carry until the seal is broken.

Most people think that he is a weak cat spirit. Honestly, he doesn’t know what he is. However, he is sure that he is not a weak cat spirit. It’s his bad luck that Nell chose that feline’s look instead of something elegant. He could have looked like a human child or a dragon. He wouldn’t mind being a wyvern either.

Being a cat isn’t completely bad. Most people underestimate him. Also, he wouldn’t be able to take a stroll in the city like this if he was a dragon or a wyvern.

Devil heads into the dark alley. His pursuer follows him. He hasn’t been expecting to see this man here. But he needs to have a talk with this disgusting man.

“Why are you here?” Devil turns around to take a good look at the man. It’s the first time that they are meeting. But he can still recognize this man. How? It’s the scent of the moon magic. It’s distinct and familiar.

“You know me.” At one glance, anyone can tell that Nell is related to this man. But the man is too young to be Nell’s father. He has a medium height, well-built body, cerulean blue eyes, and shoulder-length pale hair. He looks like he’s in his late twenties or early thirties.

“I don’t know you well.” Devil wonders if this is a coincidence that this person is here. But timing can’t get worse. “I have heard about you.”

Basically, Nell had heard about him. So, he’s not half-lying. Even if he lies, this sorcerer can’t tell since they are not on earth.

“Does your master also know about me?” Zachary Krauss takes a step toward the creature, studying it. The creature isn’t ordinary. Is it a hybrid? Why does it smell like magic and the human soul?

There’s a huge difference between a spirit and a human soul. This creature reeks of fae and moon magic. The line between fae magic and moon magic is rather blurry. But he’s experienced enough to tell the difference.

“Why are you interested in my master?” Devil asks him curiously. It’s not the right time for Nell to meet this man. The shock might trigger the volatile seal.

Zachary Krauss isn’t interested in answering this creature’s question. He hasn’t been able to see Nell. He arrived in this world only a few hours ago. Who has expected that ghoul to be a noble? It complicates a few things. He can’t kill that ghoul without causing a political rift between the two worlds.

However, he’s not hasty. He wants to judge the situation. The ghoul is rather interesting. Eli Sanguine is a doctor who treats humans. That ghoul had helped Nell Solomon. There is a chance that Eli Sanguine is truly interested in Nell Solomon. What about the girl? Since she’s Isabelle’s daughter, he’s not surprised that she wants to marry a ghoul. Her mother was a daredevil. So, Nell can’t be much different.

Still, he needs to be sure that Eli Sanguine truly loves her. He has been trying to find out about Eli Sanguine before that ghoul became a doctor. So far, he’s both impressed and displeased by the information. A man like Eli must have enemies. Nell will always be in danger. Besides that, the nobles of this kingdom might not accept a human as a ghoul’s bride. It disturbs the hierarchy. There are too many complications.

Zachary Krauss says to Devil, “You swallowed the wrath of the moon.”

“Someone had to do it.” Devil sits down on the concrete. The cold makes him keep his rationality. It’s a good thing that Nell can’t look into his mind yet. She might never be able to do it. “You see, Nell is the moon’s favourite.”

Zachary’s face turns nearly white. He clenches his teeth. A question has been bothering him ever since he found it out. “The incident that happened nine years ago”

“She was r.a.p.ed by satyrs.” Devil raises his paw. “In fact, she nearly died. But the goddess of night saved her. So, she’s living in a borrowed time. Who knows what will happen in the second time? Do you want to hear more?”
