When A Ghoul Falls In Love

Chapter 219 - I expected you to be like him!

Se Ye's face twists in horror. But he can't say a thing.

The mirror of acrimony has been dismantled. The frame is broken into more than a thousand pieces. Only the mirror remains, leaning against the wall.

The three men are staring hard at the mirror.

"What are you doing?" He asks them.

"I can barely sense any yang energy from this mirror," Zachary Krauss mutters. "Actually, I can't sense anything good in there. I guess the world is mostly hollow. Even the world of dreams has more life than this."Find authorized novels in , faster updates, better experience, Please click #!_49351042357316174 for visiting.

"Old man, you can go to the world of dreams?" Nick widens his eyes. When Zachary Krauss gives him a nod, he exclaims in awe, "That is awesome."

"World of dreams also has nightmares," Eli comments. "The goddess won't respond to me no matter what I do. The priests of darkness have failed. I wonder if there is someone in the world who can help."

Eli is at his wit's end. With more times, chances of her ever coming out of that world are reducing. He has a strong headache. Time to time, he smells blood. But he hasn't heard her voice yet. That is adding to his anxiety. Something bad can happen to her and he might not be there with her.

"Have you asked Ephraim?" Se Ye suggests. "He has been delving into that sort of knowledge a lot."

"Ephraim?" Eli wrinkles his nose. "Why would he help me?"

"You are his brother." Se Ye wants a decent man to be here. Ephraim won't try to destroy the mirror. He is the best scholar of this world, if not worlds. "Why won't he help you?"

"He is that woman's son." Eli turns his head toward the mirror. "If I ever get my hands on the creature inside this mirror, I will --"

"I will ask for his help." Se Ye runs out of the door. "He has to help me."

Eli massages his forehead. He can't go back home because Nereza and his 'son' are there. He has promised to marry her, but it doesn't mean that he will marry her before Nell comes out of the mirror. Honestly, he is hoping that Nell will find a way to send Nereza away. His darling is smart. But will she? Nell might just say that he can live with Nereza and his son. She might leave him and he won't be able to stop her without forcing her to stay with him.

He doesn't want to do that -- unless it's the last option

"Don't be that person," Nick murmurs suddenly.

Eli glances at the human, Nell's friend. "What do you mean?"

"That's the look that Aiden had in his eyes whenever he thought about possession." Nick continues, "You can possess an object, but you can't possess someone else's love. Love can become an obsession, but an obsession rarely becomes love."

"I am afraid," Eli says, sighing. "I don't want to lose her."

"You know that she loves you," Zachary Krauss tells him. "Don't you have some faith in my daughter? Don't you have any faith in yourself?"

Eli pinches his lips together. Is he getting rebuked or advised by Nell's friend and father?

"Aiden might know how to break this seal." Nick narrows his eyes. "Millie might know too."

"We can't take their help." Eli shakes his head. "If I see him, I will kill him."

"I have no doubt about that." Nick looks away. "I was just trying to think about solutions…"

A God? It has to be a powerful god. Eli scratches his head. Who can help him? Is there anyone in his world who can help?

"I will summon the moon."

Eli glances at Zachary Krauss.

"She will help." Zachary Krauss frowns. "I don't like this, but there is no other way left."

"Nell started acting strange because of her." Eli doesn't like this idea. He wrinkles his nose. "The goddess can't be trusted."

"True, but she won't harm Nell." Zachary Krauss says solemnly, "Nell is her favourite child. She has been trying to save her frequently. Do you think that Nell could have survived on her own after what happened to her if a goddess hadn't been her patron?"

How can he trust a goddess like the moon? She has done nothing to save Nell. If she was a mighty god, Nell would have never gone through that.

But the moon had let her get hurt. Then, is that goddess worthy of respect? Eli clicks his tongue, disgruntled by everything. At the moment, he's like a lost planet that has lost the sun. He doesn't know where to go or how to save her. In his lifetime, he has never felt this helpless.

"If you don't have a better suggestion, then don't stop me," Zachary Krauss tells him curtly. "It won't do any good to Nell if she stays in that world of illusion for too long. Her life energy depends on the moon."

Zachary Krauss is equally unhappy about calling on the moon. He is afraid of the moon because there is a chance that he might fall for her trance again. But there are a few things that he needs to know. Why does the moon favours his child so much?

Nell widens her eyes. "Do you mean what you just said?"

"Would I lie about this?" Eli sneers at her. "That man has a soul."

Her knees become weak. She staggers on her feet as she takes a step backwards. Somehow, she is still standing. Nell looks down at her shadow and finds a pair of calm red eyes looking back at her. The shadow elongates behind her and wraps his arm around her waist, supporting her body before she can fall on the floor.

"I want to calm down." She holds her head. "I can't."

Baek Joon Woo is whimpering in pain. Nell's eyes fill with tears. Even after so many years, Baek Joon Woo has gotten hurt because of her. Why is he here? Out of all the possibilities that she imagined, this is the worst.

If he had lived knowing what had happened, it wouldn't be shattering if they had met again. But this world is a lie that is a reality for Baek Joon Woo. When this mirage is broken, he will remember -- just like her -- and he will lose even Nabi.

She can't accept Nabi because her own child had died long ago. Nabi can't replace her lost child. Nabi can't be that child. Baek Joon Woo has raised her, thinking that she is his daughter.

"Why is he here?" Her voice breaks. "It's the worst place in the world to be. Aiden! He did it. He wanted to hurt Baek Joon Woo and make him miserable. He wanted me to break me again."

"If you know, why are you crying?" Eli frowns at her. "You aren't bothered that I am here, but you are bothered about him. Do you even love me?"

She stares hard at him. Her lips quiver, unable to say a word. A tear rolls down on her cheek and falls into the shadow.

"Do you love Eli Sanguine?" He tilts his head as his eyes gleam in rage. "Whether it's me on this side of the mirror or me on the other side of the mirror, we are the same. I am Eli's essence, his core that was taken away from him long ago. It took me a while to figure this out. If you still don't understand, let's say that I am his heart. Then, tell me why are you shaken by the fact that this man is not an illusion more than the fact that I am also real and living in this world. My entire life was nothing but a lie too, but you didn't shed a tear for me."

The shadow releases her. Nell purses her lips as she takes another step away from Eli.

"WHY AREN'T YOU ANSWERING ME?" Eli shouts.

"I expected you to be like him!" Nell yells back. "He would have comforted me instead of asking me why I am crying for Baek Joon Woo."

Baek Joon Woo, who hasn't understood a thing, sits up whilst keeping his hand on his eye. His mind is numb with pain. In the haziness, he reaches for Nell's hand.

Crack!

His wrist bone snaps. Baek Joon Woo lets out a pained scream. "Nell!!!"

Nell rushes to him and sits down on her knees. She checks his hand and then she turns her head toward Eli. Her eyes flash in anger. "What do you want? Why are you hurting him?"
