When A Ghoul Falls In Love

Volume 1 Chapter 50 Don't Tempt Me To Make You Go Blind

I take long strides toward the apartment in silence. This guy has done it. He should have talked to me before deciding everything on his own. Even the wedding venue is decided. He thinks that he can do anything since I married him that way for the first time.

“Nell, do you not want a wedding?” He walks behind me. “I know that you are surprised since I rescheduled our wedding ceremony. Things are a little complicated. I don’t think that I can hide our relationship for long.”

Hide? Is he talking about hiding from his family? I turn around and look at him. “You don’t know why I am angry.”

“Because I changed the wedding ceremony’s date? It was supposed to be three weeks later.” He knits brows. “I am sorry, Nell. I am a little desperate here.”

“When are you not desperate?” I grit my teeth. He doesn’t get it at all. Shouldn’t he discuss it with me first? I am supposed to be his wife.

“Yes, I am always desperate.” He lets out a heavy sigh, closing his eyes. “To be honest, Nell, we aren’t”

All of a sudden, he opens his eyes and turns around. “F.u.c.k!”

I lean a little to my right. Two people are walking toward us. The girl is either in late teens or early twenties. She is short, petite, and she has long dark hair with pink highlights. Her white formal shirt is a little tight and her skirt is a little shorter, revealing her bare pale thighs. She has a charming smile on her face and she’s wearing spunky pink glasses.

The man is in his late forties, olive-skinned, and average built. His moon-white hair is combed back. When he stops in front of me, I notice that he’s only a few inches taller than me. “Are you Nell Solomon?”

“I am.” Who are these people?

“I will explain this.” Eli says to the man with an anxious tone, “Don’t bother her.”

The man raises his hand and tells him sternly, “Mr Sanguine, you should be worried about yourself right now.”

All right! I dislike this old man. Something about him just ticks me off. I feel like punching his face.

“Why are you threatening my husband?” I grimace at the man. “You suddenly pop up and talk rudely to us. What are you? Get out of my sight before I knee your junks.”

The man’s face contorts in anger. He utters the words in rage, “Miss Solomon, I am here to help you.”

Help, my foot! I kick his leg. “You haven’t even introduced yourself and you say that you are going to help me. I don’t need your help.”

“Nell, don’t” Eli takes a step toward me. He pauses when the girl blocks his way. She places her hand on his chest and smiles at him brightly.

“Mr Sanguine, if you did nothing wrong, you don’t have to worry.” Her voice is high-pitched and irritating to my ears. “This is a part of the process. Don’t make it difficult for us.”

Why is she touching him like that? Eli is standing still, grimacing at the woman with cold eyes. Her hand is still on his chest. I bite my inner cheek and clenches my fists. She is doing something to him. He looks like he’s in pain and she is smiling at him like a psychopath.

“Who are you touching, woman?” Out of nowhere, the Devil runs to the woman and strikes her calf. “Release Little Marshmallow right now.”

“Ow!” The girl jumps away from Eli. Drops of blood trickle down on her calf. She stares at the cat with confusion and terror. “Why is a cat spirit here?”

When she tries to take a step, the Devil snarls at her. She sticks her back to the wall, trembling. She looks in our direction. “Krauss, help me.”

The man beside me doesn’t move an inch. He is watching the scene with wide eyes, particularly the Devil. Eli is also staring at the Devil, clearly surprised. I don’t know how the Devil can hurt people like this. I will worry about this later. Maybe there’s nothing to worry. I take a deep breath. If the girl and the man can see the cat, then they can’t be normal people. Eli seems to know who they are. Are these people from his world? Did his father send them? No, they won’t talk like that to Eli if his father sent them. Then, who sent them?

“Nell, don’t worry.” Eli gives me an assuring smile. “There’s nothing wrong. I am fine.”

“You didn’t look fine a moment ago.” The Devil looks at him scornfully. The Devil’s eyes shine brightly as he arches his back. His eyes and fur are turning paler.

“I am fine now.” He bends down on his knees and touches the Devil’s head, patting him. He gazes at me. “Nothing happened, Nell. We are all good. They are just here to talk.”

The Devil blinks his eyes and purrs to Eli, climbing over his shoulders. As usual, the Devil puts his head on Eli’s head and keeps his green eyes fixed on the girl. I loosen my fist and walk toward Eli. Nobody stops me. I give him my hand. Eli gives me his usual smile and holds my hand. “Wife, you look radiant when you are furious.”

This man is always in a flirtatious mood. “Don’t tempt me to make you go blind then.”
