When A Ghoul Falls In Love

Eli Sanguine has a problem.

The dresses are beautiful, but he has no idea what his wife would like.

For more than two years, he has been watching his wife. As much as he knows, she likes to wear simple clothes — jeans/trousers, plain tops, jackets or a faded coat. She would always tie her hair into a loose ponytail or keep it loose. But Nell Solomon is a natural beauty. She could even make dark circles look elegant on her face. When she’s deep in sleep, the drool on her chin looks so cute.

But he doesn’t want to burden her with his choices. He should have brought Devil with him. That cat would have known. If he buys everything, his wife might get angry again.

It’s hard to predict her mood at times.

It’s depressing that he doesn’t know what she would like. He has known her for more than two years, but he doesn’t know the most important things about her. He didn’t even know that she hated eating meat until he started living with her.

“Have you decided which one you want to get?” The head of the fashion boutique asks him. Getting in here hasn’t been difficult. The woman has been charmed by his face. She hasn’t realized who he is.

He doesn’t like speaking about his family background either. After what his father did to Nell, he doesn’t even want to consider himself as a son of his heartless father.

“I am confused,” Eli tells her honestly. The red dress has a deep neckline and a gentle flair. But it feels like red wouldn’t suit Nell. Her wife has a calm personality.

The stinging pain in his scalp reminds him that her personality might not be that calm. She is lovely when she gets furious.

“I think that it will suit you.” The woman tells him with a bright smile, “Why don’t you try it?”

Belinda has been browsing the shop. Madame Rouge’s words don’t escape her ears. She looks over her shoulder. Madame Rouge might be mistaken that her brother is a female. Belinda sighs and continues looking at the dresses. Maybe she should make her brother buy them all.

“It’s for my wife,” Eli replies casually. In the past, he might have treated this conversation differently. He has taken advantage of his looks, but he has never been happy about it. Men and women have fallen for him and it has been annoying. But his wife loves his appearance. If Nell wants, he wouldn’t mind wearing a dress either. However, it seems that his wife would mind it a lot.

It’s not rare for two women to get hitched. Madame Rouge joins her palms together and grins at him. “Do you want to buy a couple set?”

“What are couple sets?” Eli asks curiously.

“Matching outfits.” Madame Rouge’s face brightens up. If this woman is this beautiful, her wife must also be beautiful. Also, she wants to make clothes for this person’s body. “Isn’t it a good way to show how much you love her?”

Belinda knits her brows. Matching outfits? Is it a good idea? Shouldn’t they order wedding robes? She turns around to look at his brother and finds him nodding his head like a little Cerberus. Since her brother is so happy, it’s best to be quiet.

When Madame Rouge starts taking her brother’s measurements, Belinda gets an idea. She says to her, “Madame Rouge, why don’t you work for us? You see, my brother is getting married. But we haven’t bought wedding robes. I am sure that you are the best person for this job.”

Madame Rouge blinks her eyes. These people don’t seem like commoners for sure. She glances at Eli who has golden eyes and then, she turns her head toward Belinda. Pink eyes Is it the Sanguine family again? Didn’t that old man take a young wife only a few hundred years ago? “My apologies, your grace, I didn’t recognize you. Is Duke Sanguine getting married again?”

Belinda doesn’t know whether to laugh or cry. “It’s not my father who is getting married.”

“Is his wife getting remarried?” Madame Rouge tilts her head. There’s a high chance that one of Duke Sanguine’s wives divorced him.

“Haha Madame Rouge is rather honest.” Belinda glances at her brother. Fourth Brother’s gaze is fixed on the exit. It seems that he’s not even listening. She nudges his arm lightly. “Brother?”

Madame Rouge opens her mouth wide. Is he a man? How could she make this mistake? Which one is he? Duke Sanguine has ten sons!

“Belinda.” Eli smiles at his sister. “Buy anything that you like and take Madame Rouge to the castle with you.”

“Where are you –” Before Belinda can finish her words, Eli flounces out of the boutique.

“Damn!” Nell curses at the ceiling with a straight face. “I am bored.”

It has been twenty minutes since Eli left. Though she doesn’t want to admit it, she is somewhat afraid of going out of the room.

“I want to sniff his clothes.” Devil sighs. “I miss him.”

“You should marry him instead of me.” Nell grumbles, “You are too attached to him.”

“Half of my feelings for him come from you,” Devil scowls at her. “Why do I have to show him affection when it should be you? You know how much he wants to be patted by you.”

“…” Nell has no idea how to respond.

“I am only speaking the truth.” Devil looks at the door. “His shadow is battling with three ghouls in the corridor. It seems that they are trying a lot to get into this room.”

“I guess I can’t go out.” Nell crosses her arms. She isn’t feeling adventurous enough to open the door and look outside. Besides, Eli’s siblings are a little odd. His father is also strange, but she hasn’t felt any desire to eat her as food from his father. However, his father isn’t the type of ghoul who would think for a second time before sending her to the kitchen as a food ingredient. As for Eli’s mothers, the second one hates him for sure.

She’s going to stay in the room. Some solitude is good. How long has it been since she spent some time alone?

“Does married life mean no alone time?” Nell frowns hard. Saying that Eli is a little clingy is an understatement. The oddest part is that she does like him. Even his clingy part. He’s not bad looking. It’s not difficult to feel attraction. As for affection that’s not hard either. She’s not a heartless person. How could she remain unaffected?

As for love, it’s hard to say.

“You are admitting that you do feel something for him.” Devil chuckles lightly. “He would have been happy if he could hear it.”

“I don’t know.” Nell contemplates solemnly, “Maybe I am clinging to him. In the past, my mother often stopped me when I tried to kill myself. Then, I realized that she wasn’t real. However, you turned out to be real. Eli is also real. So, I can’t tell whether I am using his love for me as an excuse to keep myself alive.”

“You don’t have much time,” Devil informs her. “It’s not bad if you remember everything. You will survive everything again because that man doesn’t want you to die. But I don’t know who you will be”

“How long do I have?” Nell inquires.

“A day or two maybe.” Devil closes his eyes, tilting his head. “At most, three days. Your desire to know everything is also pushing the seal to break. I am trying to keep it from breaking, but memories are still leaking.”

It seems that they might not be able to get married. Nell purses her lips. Maybe it’s better that way. “I want you to take my body away and hide it somewhere when the seal breaks.”

“Huh?” Devil eyes her, confused. “What do you mean?”

“The wounds replicate.” Nell curls her fingers anxiously. “I don’t want Eli to see the wounds given by those”

She finds it hard to finish her words. Eli panicked when he saw the wounds on her body that had been given by her mother. She had seen the pain in his eyes. How would he feel when he sees the wounds given by those beasts? Even if she had forgotten important details, she did remember the time she spent in the hospital.

“Fine.” Devil promises her, “I will take you away.”
