Who Said A Mosquito Can't Cultivate?

Chapter 23 - Ravenous Bloodsucker

Think about the question for a second and you'll see why I'm still thinking about it after s.u.c.k.i.n.g 20 deer out of 202 deer.

First off, since the bear has awakened its bloodline twice, it is a given that its constitution skill would be able to give me a good boost to my stats, around 0.2 or 0.3 at the very least.

Not only that, since it could circulate and manipulate qi, that would mean that I could also obtain a point into my Qi Perception stat, which would allow me to avoid beings that exude extremely strong auras.

Also, since it is a bear of the second evolution tier, it is expected for the bear to be holding a lot of Impure Blood Energy inside its body, just waiting for me to suck it all out. A normal bear could hold around 500 points worth of Impure Blood Energy, so this big black bear could possibly be holding around a thousand points or so? Even more? I don't know since I didn't kill the bear as per our agreement.

Well...we didn't agree on not killing each other, but as I've said before, it just ain't vibing with my morality.

Hmm...now that I think about it further, if I did kill the bear, I would not have been able to access the stockpile of deer it has made. Since the deer always run away after the big black bear shows itself in front of its enemy, I would only be able to reap the rewards of the bear and just that.

It would not have allowed me to obtain over 60 thousand points worth of blood like what is currently happening.

Okay, fine. I'll stop wondering whether it was better to kill the bear in the first place. I wouldn't have gotten a huge surplus of blood to use, as well as a possible blood bank I could go back to every so often.

Yes, I planned to come back to this clearing every so often when I needed large amounts of blood...unless I find a bigger source of blood, that is.

With that out of the way, I decided to evolve my main storage and my blood s.u.c.k.i.n.g efficiency skill as they were already maxed. Not only that, the thought of obtaining a title after evolving both skills to the first evolution tier popped up in my mind. I wonder what kind of title I would get after evolving these skills to the second evolution tier?

Ding!

I opened up the skill upgrade screen and looked at the requirements needed for the skills to be able to be evolved. The blood s.u.c.k.i.n.g efficiency skill had no requirements as usual, but the main storage skill needed both the Second Blood Storage and the Blood Energy Transfer skill to be at the maximum level of the...uh...what tier is the first tier? Tier 0? Let's go with Tier 0.

Well...as I moved onto the 21st deer, which was the deer I was not finished s.u.c.k.i.n.g yet, I thought about whether I should go and max out Blood Energy Transfer or go ahead and evolve my blood s.u.c.k.i.n.g efficiency skill as it only costed 200 points of blood to evolve it.

Poke.

Slurp.

Of course, I went with the easier choice, which was to...

Upgrade my Blood Energy Transfer skill.

Nah, I'm just kidding.

I decided to evolve my blood s.u.c.k.i.n.g efficiency skill. Man, saying blood s.u.c.k.i.n.g efficiency is quite a mouthful.

Ding!

'The corpse is now deprived of its unflowing blood.'

And with the 21st deer bone dry, I now had enough points to evolve my blood s.u.c.k.i.n.g efficiency skill to the second evolution tier, leaving me around 120 points or so to spare.

Ding!

________

Please choose:

[Sanguine Proboscis Matrix] - Has a maximum level of 25. The blood that hardened within the proboscis, that acted as a storage, rearranged themselves into a matrix that could allow more blood to be stored, increasing storage capacity and blood s.u.c.k.i.n.g efficiency by 2 each level.

[Razor Proboscis] - Has a maximum level of 25. The blood that hardened within the proboscis, which acted as storage, rearranged itself to fortify the tip of the proboscis, allowing it to cut through skin faster and absorb blood quicker, increasing blood s.u.c.k.i.n.g efficiency by 4 each level.

________

Hmm...do I want storage and blood s.u.c.k.i.n.g efficiency...or just pure blood s.u.c.k.i.n.g efficiency?

Well, the answer for me is quite obvious. It's gotta be the first one.

Ding!

'Hardened Blood Proboscis Lv. MAX -> Sanguine Proboscis Matrix Lv. 1'

As for the reason why I chose the first evolution path for the skill, it was pretty simple. Even though I have been monotonously s.u.c.k.i.n.g deer blood here and there for quite a while now, I still savor the taste of blood. I want the speed of my blood s.u.c.k.i.n.g to be fast enough to deter enemies, but not too fast that I could only savor the taste for a short moment.

And so, with my blood s.u.c.k.i.n.g efficiency skill being evolved to the second evolution tier, I then focused on maxing out the Blood Energy Transfer skill to meet the requirements needed to evolve my main storage to the second evolution tier.

I then went on to kill and suck 14 deer until there was no blood left inside their bodies, with the 14th and final deer being left halfway as I maxed out the Blood Energy Transfer skill.

Ding!

'Blood Energy Transfer Lv. 9 -> Lv.MAX'

'Clean Blood Storage can now be evolved.'

To be honest, after upgrading the Blood Energy Transfer skill, I felt that the speed at which I gathered blood was boosted by quite a bit, while at the same time, it didn't seem like so.

Oh, also, after maxing out the Blood Energy Transfer skill, I s.u.c.k.e.d up the remaining blood from the 14th deer, bringing my total to 34 deer.

At this current time, the moon was high up in the sky while the big black bear was sitting on one part of the clearing, looking at what I was doing with incredulous shock. As I looked at its eyes, it was thinking that I had done some sort of great murder with it being the only eyewitness.

Well...technically, that was the case, but no blood was spilled whatsoever.

Anyways, it's time to evolve the main storage skill, which consumed 300 points of blood, leaving my storage with around 70 points or so.

Ding!

________

[Purified Blood Storage] - Has a maximum level of 25. In exchange for increasing storage by a great amount, it condenses and purifies the Impure Blood Energy obtained from absorbing living beings, reducing the amount of Impure Blood Energy needed to form Pure Blood Energy by 60 percent. Increases storage capacity by 2 per level. (500k -> 200k points per 1 point)

[Blood Warehouse] - Has a maximum level of 25. Focused on allowing the user to store more blood, it increases storage capacity by 4 per level.

[Alchemical Blood Storage] - Has a maximum level of 25. Through special means, a copious amount of blood stored within the storage can be used to enhance the user's blood s.u.c.k.i.n.g efficiency, increasing the storage capacity and blood s.u.c.k.i.n.g efficiency by 2 and 1 respectively.

________

Ooh, three choices this time. Although I would like to choose the second skill due to the amount of blood I was currently obtaining, I did not choose it. The same went for the third skill as I've said earlier that I don't want to savor the taste of blood only for a short time.

With those two cancelled out, it only left the first skill to remain, which had the same premise as the first evolution tier version of the skill, which was to reduce the amount of blood, or Impure Blood Energy in this case, to create a point of Pure Blood Energy. Of course, I was incredibly curious of this Pure Blood Energy.

Ding!

'Clean Blood Storage Lv. MAX -> Purified Blood Storage Lv. 1'

'You have obtained a new title: Ravenous Bloodsucker.'

'Bloods.u.c.k.i.n.g Mosquito has been changed for Ravenous Bloodsucker.'

'The effects of both titles stack on top of one another.'

As expected, I obtained a new title after evolving both skills to the second evolution tier. I wonder what kind of effect this new title gives?

Ding!

________

[Ravenous Bloodsucker]

Requirements: Evolve the main storage and blood s.u.c.k.i.n.g efficiency skill to the second evolution tier.

Effects: +10 Blood S.u.c.k.i.n.g Efficiency, +25 Blood Storage Capacity

________

Well then. I don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing to obtain. Let me ponder over it for a bit and think whether it's good or bad.

Hmmm...it's...

...

Good, for the most part.

And with the new title being obtained, I then moved onto s.u.c.k.i.n.g more blood from the deer to hopefully finish this blood buffet within the time span of a day or so. But looking at the current speed I'm s.u.c.k.i.n.g blood, I'm probably gonna finish...quite faster than that.

Why should I worry about time? I have all the time in the world...seeing as it's still my second day in this world. Well, it's probably midnight now so it's technically my third day.

I flew towards the 35th deer within the clearing, killing it and depriving it of its blood at a really fast speed thanks to the new title I received. Sooner or later, I'm definitely gonna regret this choice. Or...probably not.

I then moved onto s.u.c.k.i.n.g 3 more deer dry, maxing out my storage capacity as I wondered as to what I should focus on upgrading next.

Hmmm...what's a good skill to upgrade...

Wait. Shit. There's one skill that's good to upgrade. Well, I don't know if it's really good though. It must have felt like I betrayed it or something after maxing it out.

Of course, this skill was none other than the Blood Energy Transfer skill.

Since it only costed like 100 points to evolve the skill, even if it doesn't do anything special on its first evolution tier, it would be fine with me.

Ding!

_________

Please choose:

[Efficient Blood Transfer] - Has a maximum level of 15. Thanks to special processes, the speed of blood being transferred has been increased, increasing the freshness of said blood. Evolving to this skill reduces the amount of Impure Blood Energy needed to upgrade skills and features that need Impure Blood Energy by 20 percent.

[Alchemical Blood Transfer] - Has a maximum level of 15. Through special means, a small portion of the blood being transferred to the second blood storage can be turned into shields that hover around the user's body, protecting it from attacks.

_________

Uh...I take back my words of this skill being useless. The choices it's giving me are so good that it's quite hard to be certain. If you were given a choice like this, what would you pick? Surely, you'd be at a crossroads as well, right?

The first path allows you to use less points to upgrade, basically following the saying 'less is more'. As for the second path, it allows a part of the blood you absorb to become shields! Shields, I tell you! Wouldn't you like to have a defensive skill that did tha-

Huh. I just remembered that I could unlock and upgrade defensive skills with Bloodl.u.s.t Points. Wouldn't that offer me better protection?

Well...I've decided.
