Ch. 111 Inside Talk

Summer was ending, and the autumn harvest was fast approaching.

Boris: [Unpehー]

Neese: [Peh]

Carol: [Unpeh-pehー]

Boris brought Gina, Neese, Carol, and Casper with him to visit the carrot farm.

Looks like he’s going to teach them how to pull the carrots out of the ground.

It was wonderful to see him take the lead as the big brother.

“Governor, thank you for doing this.”

Luke: “No problemー Alright, let’s do this. [Alchemy BOX].”

Among the vegetables we harvested, some had grown too much. For those plants, I accelerated their growth further so that their flowers bloomed and their seeds were ready.

We had staggered the seed planting, so we should be able to expect a consistent harvest for a while.

Once we were done harvesting, we would plant the seedlings and expect the next harvest to be around spring.

And since we increased the number of glass greenhouses, we can even expect some harvests during the winter.

Luke: “Alright, once we’re done here, next will be the Dodorian Greenhouse.”

“The one for the Mothra Kaiko? They really took a liking to you, sir.”

Luke: “Aren’t they pretty cute?” The Mothra Kaiko love Dodorian fruit, but they don’t demand it every day.

They behave very similarly to the Horned Sheepoo.

According to Boss (translated), they understand that fruits aren’t around all the time. That’s why it’s important to appreciate them when there are some to eat.

I was impressed with the Monsters’ mentality about this.

But when I told Boss that, he immediately told me that I was wrong.

ーーI’m the greatest Monster!

Is what he said.

I didn’t understand what he was saying.

Luke: “Alright, I think we’re done for today.” The harvested vegetables are sent to the grocery run by the wives of the farmers.

I named the store “grocery”. It was a word I haven’t used in a while.

They will send 20% of the profits as tax in exchange for permissions to use the farmland and receive seeds and seedlings.

The farmers did the rest, and me and the Knights went to the orchards.

Luke: “Rokuー Sorry to make you wait. I’m here to help.”

Roku: “Young Master, my, my. Sir Knights, too. Thank you for looking after the Young Master. He must be a lot of work.”

Reyerune: “Haha, well, lately, it’s been harder to remember what my job was here.”

Luke: “What are you talking about, Reyerune? You’re a Knight. We even fixed the holes that Boss made on those ships and gave it to you. Only you and your crew know how to work those ships.”

But in order to maneuver a battleship, we are lacking too many people apparently.

I discussed this with the King of Tronstad, and he had given me permission to hire more Knights.

Though I have the permission now, I didn’t know how to go about looking for them.

Roku: “The Garapes will make good wine.”

Roku was harvesting the grape vines as he spoke.

Roku: “These can be eaten as-is, but if you head diagonally north that way, the grapes there have thicker skin and are much smaller. Those would be better for wine.”

Luke: “Huh? We had different kinds of grapes here? But now that you mention it, we have green grapes and purple ones, so I guess that’s true.”

Roku: “We have a total of 4 kinds of Garapes, Young Master. But after all these years, you still call them grapes.”

I’m formerly Japanese so that can’t be helped. But it’s not like I can tell him that either.

I see. So there’s also different types of grapes here.

I’m good at being able to tell if the fruits are ripe or not, but I had no way of telling the differences between different kinds of grapes.

When treating the plants’ illnesses, I would rely on the stuff I read out of books and Roku’s advice to determine what kind of medicine I need to create.

I vaguely remembered stories about how women would be singing as they crushed grapes under their feet.

I wonder if that’s to separate the skin, seeds and juices?

If that’s the case, I can easily do that with Alchemy.

Luke: “Roku, once we get the juices from the Garapes, what happens next?”

Roku: “You would place them in barrels, and with special yeast, you would let it rest.”

Then once I separate the juice, I just have to place some yeast inside and do the Alchemy again.

It sounds simple, but I didn’t want to mess this up. I’ll start with a little bit to experiment.

Luke: “You think we can get that yeast here on the island?” Roku: “No sir, I don’t believe we can. We’ll have to get some from the mainland.”

Luke: “Ah, okay…”

“Sir Baron, I believe the Magecraft Teleportation device will be very handy in this case.”

Oh! That’s right!

I really need to thank Royce when I see him.

<<<<>>>>

I had forgotten that the Teleportation Device was connected to Tronstad’s Royal Palace.

Eris: “I will go and greet my father and brother.”

Luke: “IーI should go with you.” I was with Princess Aires and Sia. We also had the Dwarf, Mrs. Rosetta, who knew a lot about the yeast, and Chateldon with two of his subordinates came with us as guards.

It would be disrespectful to show up to the palace, do our shopping, and then disappear.

But besides thatーー

Luke: “I don’t think I’m dressed for the occasion…”

Besides me, no one had dirty clothes on. And that’s because I was the only one doing all the dirty work.

Eris: “That’s why I asked you before departing, ‘Are you certain that you do not need to change clothes?’”

Luke: “Well, if you would have been more specific, I would have.”

Eris: “Hehe, Sir Luke. Please come to my room. I will ask one of the maids to bring you something to wear.”

I can just go back through the Teleportation Device and come back, but I guess that works too.

The Knights formed a line in front of the Princess’ door. Mrs. Rosetta was relaxing with the Princess in the main room, and there were other smaller rooms connected to the Princess’ room.

It was a room worthy of a Princess. It was huge.

I was taken to the Princess’ bedroom, and there, the maids hurriedly used me like a mannequin trying to determine what clothes I should be wearing. Ultimately, we ended up withーー

Luke: “Don’t you think this is a little too…….extravagant?”

It was a white tuxedo with collar and cuffs that were bright red. The shirt inside was blue with white pants.

There was something gold and fluffy on my shoulders, and on my right shoulder hung a blue cape.

No matter how you looked at it, I looked like some prince.

Eris: “Now, now, Sir Luke. Please come with me to go see my father!”

Luke: “Uhー okay….”

Princess Aires tugged at my sleeves as we left.

We were met by Sia who had circled around ahead of us and glared at the two of us.

Sia: “Grrrr, Aires, you plan something….”

Eris: “IーI do not know what you mean, Sia.”

She is?

Huh? Like what?

Rosetta: “Ah, it must be so nice to be so young.”

Chateldon: “Yes, the trials and tribulations of youth.”

Luke: “What? Mrs. Rosetta, Chateldon, what are you guys talking about?” Mrs. Rosetta continued to chuckle to herself, and Chateldon let out an amused sigh.

What?! What is going on here?!

If you know something, tell meーーー!
