The fence was far away, that meant I had to join the battle right now! But I wasn't going to attack a battle-ready grinning ranger waiting for his friends to reload. I won't fall into that trap the second time. I had the advantage of my own spell. It wasn't a class or a race spell, it was my personal magic formula.

"Light! Come to me! The Strike of the Sun!"

I pointed my palm towards the enemy, and a dazzling stream of light rushed into the shooter's eyes.

All three fighters cried out, clutching their burning faces.

Here's my chance!

Waving away the annoying MESSAGE, I jumped to the foes and furiously hit with the sword diagonally.

The black blade flashed, devouring plenty of enemy blood. The ranger fell down, split in two uneven halves. I stepped forward, feeling that it wasn't me who was controlling the sword but that the blade was controlling me. Having turned, I attacked the two remaining gunmen simultaneously.

The burning blade hadn't cut the foes' flesh, but the force of the blow was so great that the opponents seemed to have been hit by a huge log. They burned, writhing in hellish agony, while my black sword was absorbing their blood, pain and even their souls.

Ah! Damn it! I noticed new enemies only when they hit me on the back with a mace. My backbone must have snapped, I saw the ground with my one eye. I rolled over and got back on my feet.

Damned it, I'm so disoriented that I can't even determine the distance to the enemy. Screw it! I urgently need potions. I pulled out the flasks with the health, stamina, and dexterity potions and drank them down. My body twisted in terrible pain, but I was able to stand on my feet and not groan leaning on my sword.

My stomach was on fire and then it felt like it suddenly froze. My lungs filled with flame. My one eye was covered with a bloody veil. But after a second everything went quiet, my heart was racing, but I knew that I would survive.

My backbone was intact, as if it never suffered that terrible blow from the back. My shoulders didn't hurt, but I still had only one eye. I also wanted to drink a strength restoring potion, but I lost it in the attack. Unfortunately, I spent the recovery potion on Oulsast.

"Come here, you, grey-skinned bastards!" I roared, grabbing my sword.

"We're coming," the man with the iron-bound club chuckled.

It must have been the bastard who hit me on the back. Turning my head left and right didn't feel great, though my eyesight became clearer and I could easily see my enemies. Damned cultists! I distracted them from the Titan, who was fighting the tentacle monster.

If 'the Strike of the Sun' was so effective for the first time, I'd better use it again.

"Light, give me strength! Strike!"

I did it! Three of the seven fighters were blinded. I decided to attack them first. Waving the burning blade, I pushed away the two opponents who had come too close and stepped towards the enemies who were rubbing their eyes.

My sword penetrated its victims effortlessly, cutting down their bodies, weapons, and shields in their hands.

It blazed, absorbing my enemies' blood as if I were holding not a piece of fine steel, but a pile of dry twigs soaked in flammable liquid. Two opponents caught fire, they bounced off, patting their clothes with their hands, trying to extinguish the flames. But I wasn't going to let them.

I killed one enemy at once. The blade struck his chain mail, but the metal was shoddy and my blade broke it easily. However, my second foe was more fortunate, he managed to rebound and throw the dagger at me. While I was busy with him, the rest of the soldiers were catching their breath.

I managed to fight off a club together with a flying dagger. However, I was wounded by a spear at the last second. Thanks to the 'Regeneration' the impact wasn't fatal. But I wished I recovered more quickly. The potions didn't heal instantly. The enemies, who had realized, that I was half-blind, tried to attack me from the left side, where I couldn't see my opponents.

Under such circ.u.mstances, I could neither attack them, nor use 'The Strike of the Sun', because this way I would have to take my hand off the sword grip and become defenseless for a moment. I had to constantly turn around, chasing away the fastest fighters, hungry for my blood.

I was lucky this time. I made my enemies retreat and wounded one of them. The enemy's hoodie flashed from the sword fire, and he rolled on the ground, trying to extinguish the magical flame. I love this blade, it's awesome! Only three guys were left so I could try to use the Light spell again. But my enemies already knew about my advantage and stood wide apart from each other, shielding their eyes. What should I do? Damn, I wondered how Oulsast created his monsters. Didi he read spells? I quickly understood how to use 'The Strike of the Sun'— to pronounce the spell mentally, concentrating on the target and stretch my palm forward. How can I learn to control a spider? I wouldn't want to be unarmed in the middle of a battle, wasting time on a broken spell. But I decided to try.

"Little spider!" I said mentally, trying to keep the eye on all my enemies simultaneously, I constantly had to turn and look back.

I didn't understand how they'd guessed that I was distracted, thinking about Oulsast's assistant, but they attacked me together at the same time.

But they couldn't break through my defense—the fire curtain didn't allow them to come too close, and they had to attack me from a rather uncomfortable distance. However, I couldn't get too close to them either.

"Create a weaving for calling a spider" the MESSAGE was accompanied by a schematic drawing of a spider —eight stick legs, a torso, and an abdomen.

That's Ok. It was complicated to study the scheme and to track the enemy movements at the same time.

Scaring off the cultists with a broad sweep of my sword, I concentrated, mentally drawing a simple figure. Due to the writing lessons, I managed to do it on the first try.

My right hand was numb with the pain, and only current 'Regeneration' prevented me from dropping the sword from my weakened hand.

That creature under my skin seemed to feed on me! At least I felt so. After a few seconds, a small spider, the size of a nail, crawled out to my wrist, I didn't even notice it at first. How could this little thing cause so much suffering?

Small spider obtained— one insect
