Chapter 11: This Stench is so Bad!

Ye Zhou's braised chicken was ultimately not eaten. This family was too poor. Apart from firewood, they only had a few kilograms of rice they had just bought today. There was no oil, salt, soy sauce, or vinegar. Braised chicken seemed distant to them. Ye Zhou decided to stew a large pot of delicious old mother chicken soup instead, and the two brothers ate until they were full.

"Burp... Brother, I'm so full!"

After the meal, Ye Huan held his round belly and burped contentedly. His face was full of satisfaction, and his mouth was smeared with oil. Ye Zhou was not much different. After spending a whole day in this new world, he finally had a satisfying meal. "We should eat like this every day. It would be great to become fat like the people in the old Ye family."

With their undernourished bodies, it seemed unlikely for them to become fat.

"Yes!"

Ye Huan nodded happily, not thinking too much. But then he quickly realized something was off. "Do they have so many chickens for us to catch?"

"Cough..."

Did he think they could only catch chickens at the old Ye family to have chicken to eat? Ye Huan's words made him cough, and after a while, he wiped his mouth and said in annoyance, "Who said we can only catch chickens at the old Ye family? Besides, we don't have to eat chicken every day. What I mean is, we need to earn money ourselves and enjoy a good life every day. Little Huan, do you understand what I'm saying?"

He tried to keep it simple and clear. After all, his six-year-old brother, he didn't know how to communicate with him freely.

"I understand. Brother means we should raise chickens ourselves, many, many chickens."

Tilting his head and thinking, Ye Huan innocently made gestures, probably because he had just eaten a meal of chicken. The three sentences he said all revolved around chickens, leaving Ye Zhou speechless. He couldn't help but feel a psychological shadow when it came to chickens.

"It's not just raising chickens. We can also grow vegetables and crops. When they're ready, we can sell them in the town. And since our village is surrounded by mountains, we can also go to the mountains to find wild vegetables and game to make some extra money. There are plenty of ways to make money."

With a little brother who had a significant age gap, Ye Zhou had to patiently explain. Whether he would put it into practice would depend on the circumstances.

"Oh, then I'll help Brother weed. I'm really good at it."

Ye Huan acted like weeding was an extraordinary skill, his small phoenix eyes forming two crescents as he smiled. Ye Zhou didn't comment on it anymore and stood up, patting his head, saying, "Alright, alright, I'll leave the weeding to you. But for now, help me clean up the dishes."

"Understood!"

Making a crooked military salute, Ye Huan amused Ye Zhou. The two brothers, one washing dishes and the other wiping the table, cleaned up. After they finished, Ye Zhou poured the hot water that had been boiling in a small pot into a large wooden tub. After adjusting the water temperature, the two brothers went to the rudimentary outhouse and took a comfortable hot bath. Perhaps because of the events of the day, Ye Huan fell asleep as soon as he got into bed.

Ye Zhou reluctantly helped his brother cover himself with a thin blanket after finishing his busy work. He thought about the space, the seeds he bought during the day, and the withered flower branches. Despite being tired from the whole day, he had to muster up energy again. He placed the seeds, flower branches, farming tools, wooden barrels, gourds, and other items he would need into the space, all in one go. In order to experiment with the different functions of the three different-colored patches of land, he divided the seeds and flower branches into three portions and planted them in different plots.

"We bought too few seeds..."

He hadn't finished planting, but the seeds were already gone. Ye Zhou couldn't help but feel regretful. However, considering his meager financial situation, he had to accept it. He didn't have much money, so he couldn't afford to buy too much.

"Ouch, my old waist!"

He hadn't felt it while squatting on the ground, but as soon as he stood up suddenly, Ye Zhou clutched his waist and let out an exaggerated cry of pain. However...

"What's that smell? It's so bad!"

Ignoring the pain in his waist, Ye Zhou wrinkled his brow as a strong stench seemed to permeate the space. He sniffed around, and to his dismay, he discovered that the foul odor was emanating from his own body. He had been so busy earlier that he hadn't noticed it, but now he took a closer look. His exposed skin seemed to be coated with a layer of dirty, greasy grime, and the stench was coming from it.

"Damn it, why is my stomach hurting now? What's going on..."

Before he could find the cause, his stomach started to ache again. Ye Zhou let out a cry of pain and comically held his stomach as he hurriedly left the space and headed for the outhouse.

"Ugh... spare me, is this how I'm going to stink people to death?"

"Ow..."

After a short while, there was a loud noise from the outhouse, accompanied by the sounds of Ye Zhou's defeated cries and moans. The nauseating stench, comparable to a biochemical weapon, kept emanating from the outhouse. Thankfully, Ye Huan was already asleep, otherwise he would have been overwhelmed by the 'toxic gas' emitted by Ye Zhou and fainted. The smell was truly indescribable in ordinary words.

"Damn it, this is terrible. I almost fainted in the toilet."

It was unclear how long it took, but Ye Zhou finally emerged, trembling, with his pants pulled up. Unable to bear the stench emanating from his body, Ye Zhou didn't even have time to wonder why his waist no longer hurt and his legs no longer ached. He quickly went to the kitchen and fetched a bucket of water, thoroughly washing himself from head to toe. He also flushed the toilet several times until he was sure the smell had dissipated before stopping.

He didn't have a cleanliness obsession, but he couldn't stand the overwhelming stench on his body or in his surroundings!

"Huff... What did the original owner eat to become so smelly? Damn it, I... No, that's not right..."

As Ye Zhou slumped in his chair, he suddenly widened his eyes because he finally realized that the previous back pain had disappeared. Moreover, when he carried the water earlier, he could lift the whole bucket with his meager strength, and now he was just slightly out of breath. He wasn't tired at all. This situation seemed to resemble...

"Wash the marrow and break the bones?"1

"Isn't that too exaggerated?" He didn't consume any miraculous elixirs or medicines. He only drank the pond water from the space in the morning and while working just now... Could that really be divine water?

With this in mind, Ye Zhou once again entered the space, stood beside the pond, and crossed his arms, staring at the almost transparent water. It must be the water that made the difference. Although it wouldn't truly wash the marrow and break the bones, it could definitely eliminate impurities from the body, regulate bodily functions, and relieve fatigue. Long-term consumption should be beneficial and harmless to the body, right?

Initially, he thought it was just an ordinary pond, but it turned out... It seemed that this space was even more amazing than he had imagined.

"Anyway, I'll study it slowly later. As long as it's a good thing, that's enough."

It was already approaching midnight, and Ye Zhou didn't want to dwell on it any longer. After watering all the newly planted seeds and flower branches with the water, he made a decision. He replaced all the water in the household water tank with the pond water. Since this water could regulate bodily functions, he needed to adjust himself and his brother properly.

After he finished his busy work and lay down next to Ye Huan, it was already more than an hour later. Despite the series of events that occurred today, Ye Zhou fell asleep with a satisfied smile.
