A Villainess's Struggles

Chapter 32 - The Villainess is Bothered

My new phone is very helpful when it comes to passing time. Although the other day, my mother got really mad at me as I'm always on my phone. Because of it, she thinks that I might spend my whole summer destroying my eyesight. I was born with pretty good eyesight so I'm not that concerned about my vision. Mother also threatened to confiscate my phone if I continue doing what I'm doing. I guess it's about time I try to go outside for a walk...

Thinking about it, I should go visit Allen. I haven't been to his house in a while. Later, I asked mother if I could go to Allen's house for a bit. She looked really happy when I told her that and she approved it right away. Mother called Allen's parents and they said that he was home.

My chauffer drove me to Allen's home and I pressed on the doorbell. The person who opened the door was not Allen, but a lady who looked like she's in her 30s. At first she looked surprised but then she smiled.

"You must be Natalie right? Vivian's daughter?" She asked.

I nodded my head in response to her question.

"You've been coming here many times but I was never at home, I apologize for that" said the lady.

"It's fine, I understand that you're very busy" I replied.

Since she said that she's never home, then she must be...

"Nice to meet you Natalie. I'm Allen's mother" She smiled.

It's the Allen's mother who loves the medieval stuff! This was the first time I met her!

"Nice to meet you too, madam" I responded.

I went into the living room and sat down on the couches. A few minutes later, Allen came downstairs and waved at me.

"Hey Natalie, how's your summer break so far?" He asked.

"It's not very fun..." I answered.

"I see, well I've been bored too. It's also your first time meeting my mom right? I'm sure she would like you as you two have a common interest..." Allen sighed.

"Aren't medieval things cool? Like look at the patterns of that carpet over there! It's so fancy and pretty" I smiled.

Allen's mother happened to overhear what I said while she was preparing lunch. She walked to the living room and looked at me.

"You like the furniture in this house too?" She exclaimed.

"That's right! The beauty of this table and the walls just makes me really happy when I come over here" I explained.

"Well you see here, my husband and my son don't seem to like the design of the house. I'm so happy that there's someone who thinks differently from those two people. To be honest, I really wanted a daughter. You seem like my ideal type of daughter. Gentle, reserved, lady-like, and of course, you have similar tastes as me! I kind of wish you were my daughter now! Just kidding" laughed Allen's mother.

"Haha, that can't happen unless I marry into your family" I joked.

Then there was a sudden pause. I realized what I said and the kind of society I am in.

"My~ Natalie, aren't you a smart girl! You can just marry Allen here and you'd become my daughter! How does that sound? Allen's smart and he's handsome, there's a lot you can get after marrying him!" suggested Allen's mother.

I stepped onto a landmine. Help...!

I glanced over at Allen but he wasn't paying attention. He was absorbed into a book he was reading. How could he betray me...

"No no, I don't deserve someone as great as him. There should be someone better out there for him. I'm not good enough" I said trying to reject her suggestion.

"How could that be! You're a perfect example of a young lady! When Allen talks about you during dinner, he always looks very happy. He's never like this unless he talks with Henry!" She responded.

So I'm worth the same value as Henry now? If Allen's mother wants to consider me as a marriage candidate for Allen, she should also consider Henry too...Right?

"Hahah...I'm still young, madam..." I said.

"Better early than later!" She smiled.

In the end, I spent my time at Allen's home trying to reject his mother. I also ate lunch there. It was really awkward for Allen as his mother was constantly pressuring me to get engaged to him. Before I left the house, Allen apologized with a 45 degree bow. I simply told him "It must be hard at home for you". He nodded in response and sighed. There was something he said after that bothered me. As for what it is...I really don't want to remember it so I'll try my best to keep it hidden forever, or maybe I'll try my best to forget it...
