A Villainess's Struggles

Chapter 36 - The Villainess Resolves a Conflict

There is an event every year only for fifth and sixth graders who attend WoodLily. It's a one day event where we invite our family and friends to come to our school. There will be many food stalls and performances for our guests to enjoy. Not gonna lie, I can't wait for the event day.

As I am part of the student council, I am forced to help out plan the event day. I have to make sure that each class has an area where they are able to present whatever their class decided on.

By the way, my class is planning to do a restaurant. As a class filled with only rich people, getting access to the food isn't even close to a problem. For clothing attire, we planned for everyone to wear black and white formal clothing such as suits. I'm thinking of wearing the black dress that mother bought for me for my birthday last year. I haven't wore it before so I'm kind of excited to try it on.

Currently, I'm sitting in a chair in the student council room trying to focus on finishing the work I have in front of me. I could see the painful faces of the boys around me, especially Henry. I don't know why the school forces us young children to plan these events. Their excuse is always "It's preparing them for the future". I guess being rich always comes with some extra work.

The relationship between Allen and me have improved as we say good morning to each other now. Around last week, he suddenly started greeting me. At first I was confused but of course, I greeted him back. I recently found out that Blake might've told Allen something that caused that to happen. As for the reason why? I somewhat have the gist of it...

But it's still awkward so maybe the event could restore our relationship?

Our class somehow managed to snatch the gym for the event. The gym is most popular place that everyone wants. How we did it? With the power of Henry. All we had to say to the other classes was: "We have Henry, the successor to the Lawson family, the current student council president, and the love interest of many girls..." Then, I heard the shatters of the hearts of the boys from the other classes. Haha, Henry's hard to win against if the girl you love likes him...

The love interest part was quite unnecessary as Henry himself does not realize that many girls like him. He's so oblivious that I'm quite concerned for our female lead. She's going to have to straight up tell him that she likes him or else he will never realize it.

I was daydreaming until a boy suddenly yelled at me.

"Hey you over there. Hang this poster on the door of our classroom" a boy yelled as he tossed a sheet of paper at me.

Woah! I almost didn't catch it! The paper almost fell into that paint can near me. But, t-that was rude... He must've never learn manners before.

I noticed Allen to the right of me. He hesitated but then walked over and opened his mouth.

"I see, this is how the Johnson family treats others. I didn't think that they would have no manners towards a lady. Was I right?" A sudden voice asked

Hm? Allen would never say that! This voice sounds very familiar...

I saw Allen's shocked face then I saw Blake, who was next to him.

Right? Why would Allen say such provoking words?

"A-Ah, Blake! My family isn't like that! I'm so sorry! I-I won't do this again!" the boy apologized.

"Sorry? Don't direct that towards me, but the lady you threw that paper at" Blake replied.

"Y-Yes! I'm so sorry Natalie!" said the boy as he bowed.

So he knew my name... But Blake's power in this society is really amazing. The hierarchy of this world is determined by how rich one is and how much power they have when it comes to business. For example, someone like Henry stands at the top of this pyramid. Being Henry's relative, Allen's family has lots of power. Blake's family also is very powerful. There are some weird rumours circulating around about his family though.

My family...Well, we are a step away from being powerful. That's why father works very hard so that he could become part of "the top of the pyramid". I find that unnecessary. He works way too hard.

The boy quickly escaped after apologizing.

"Oh thanks Blake, and A-Allen for almost stepping up for me..." I said.

"You're welcome. Also, I have to deliver this to the teachers. Goodbye for now" Blake smiled.

W-Wait, you're leaving me alone with Allen?

Before Blake left, he whispered to me:

"You should forgive him. I don't think you two are fighting anyways. I feel bad for Allen, it took a while to get him to say good morning to you. He really wants to talk to you, trust me on this, okay?"

B-Blake is very observant huh...? I know why he wants me to make up with Allen though. It's definitely for his sister.

"Natalie?" said Allen.

"Y-Yes!" I replied.

I felt like my heart was going to jump out of my c.h.e.s.t! That scared me...

"Sorry" he apologized.

"Why are you saying sorry?" I asked.

"I think I troubled you for the past month" Allen frowned.

"I-I thought you were ignoring me" I responded.

"No, that isn't the case at all. I'm sorry. Could we forget what I said that day? Is it okay for us to go back to what it was like before?" He asked.

"Of course!" I smiled.

"Did you read that new book 'Jewel Tears' that just came out recently?" I asked with excitement.

"The one with the protagonist being the criminal?" Allen replied smiling.

"Yes that one! It's so interesting!" I replied.

I'm glad that we returned to our previous stage as friends. I don't think I am able to see him as a love interest right now. We're still young, I believe that it isn't time yet. Maybe in the future, my feelings could change...
