A Villainess's Struggles

After weeks and weeks of planning, the Halloween event is finally set. The student council was able to hype it up enough to the point that many of the students in the school were excited for this event.

Hopefully this event goes well considering the amount of time and effort the members of the student council and the other clubs put in.

"Natalie, you've been working so hard these days. What do you plan on dressing up as for the Halloween event?" Olivia asked.

"Ah... That's a secret" I said.

"Ehh? How come?" Anna asked.

"That ungrateful basta-I mean, Henry said that since we will be monitoring the area, we need to make sure that other students don't recognize us as we do not want to disturb them. Therefore, if I told you what costume I'm going to wear, you'd recognize me right away and I might get distracted and not be able to focus on my job" I explained.

This rule is extremely pointless. Henry really thinks that wearing some sort of costume with a mask that will block his face can make him blend into the background. Well, Henry, aren't you a little too simple-minded? I've never read a book where the handsome male lead is able to hide himself in a crowd just by wearing a mask!

"I see, it must be hard for you to follow at the rules in the student council. Good luck with that" Olivia replied.

"At this point, I'm pretty much used to it." I sighed.

"Well, what do you guys plan on dressing up as?" I asked.

"A witch. You girls may have expected me to dress as an artist but, lately, I felt as if a witch costume will suit me quite a bit..." Olivia smiled.

Anna and I silently laughed as we were a bit afraid. Honestly speaking, Olivia is really good in science. She understands how to conduct experiments quite well. Once, I saw her playing around with chemicals after science. Olivia looked like she was having lots of fun. I thought to myself, "This school-no, this comic world is messed up. How could you make a young girl play with dangerous things such as chemicals?!"

"Moving on... I plan to dress up as a noble lady. To be exact, I'll be wearing a Victorian dress. I just ordered it last week and I can't wait for it to arrive! Hopefully Blake will notice me..." Anna exclaimed.

A noble lady huh... I actually haven't thought of what to dress up as. My backup plan is to dress up as a fairy. Yes, the hypocrisy is there. I mean, a villainess like Natalie as a fairy? What a joke.

"Oh my, it's already this time! Sorry, I'll be heading to the student council room" I said as I checked the clock.

"Yup, see you tomorrow" Anna said as she waved along with Olivia.

Today is the last meeting before the Halloween event occurs. We need to go and see if all the props are in the right place. We also need to check if everything we need has been ordered.

When I arrived in the student council room, I could see Henry glaring at me.

"Hey, you're late" He frowned.

I checked my phone for the time and sighed. This feels like déjà vu...

"Sir, it's 3:30 exactly. I am not late" I smiled.

"No it's not 3:30 exactly. It is now 3:31! Do you know how much can be done with an extra minute?" Henry said.

No I don't. I'd like for you to tell me what really can be done with an extra minute. I'm not a superhuman like the rest of the people standing in front of me.

"Henry, instead of wasting even more time, let's get on with what we planned to do today" Blake suggested.

"Mhm... Sorry. It's the clubs that are stressing me out" Henry scratched his head and apologized.

"N-No, it's fine, I understand that it must be tough on you" I shook my head.

Henry apologizing? I'm scared!

After, we left to the gymnasium to see how the clubs were doing.

At around 5pm, I returned home. There was a box sitting in front of my room. I was curious so I decided to open the box. Inside, there was a frilly blue dress. After taking a closer look at it, I realized that it was the dress that Alice wore from "Alice in Wonderland."

"Um" I said as I stared at the dress.

The door to my parents' room opened and mother walked out of it.

"Oh Natalie! You already opened the box? I heard from Richard that the school is planning a Halloween event for you so I went ahead and bought you these clothes. Knowing you, you would always think about things like this last minute. Anyways, go try it on, I want to see if it fits." She said.

Hmm. At least I don't have to think about what to dress as.

"Mother, before that, do we have any fancy masks in our house?" I asked.

"Masks? You're going to wear a mask with the costume?" Mother replied.

I nodded and said, "It's required for student council members."

She sighed and went back into her room. About a minute later, she came outside with a black mask in her hand.

"This is a mask I bought from when I entered a prom in my high school days. Will that do?" Mother said.

"Yes, that's fine. Thank you mother!" I smiled.

"Now, go try it on" mother smiled back.

On the day of the Halloween event, I could see the dark circles underneath my eyes.

"Sleep, I want to sleeeep!" I grunted.

I put on my Alice costume and a tied a black ribbon on my head. I also tied my hair into a ponytail and wore the mask that mother gave.

"People won't recognize me today" I smiled as I stood in front of the mirror.

I arrived at school early and headed towards the student council room.

"Good morning" I said as I knocked on the door.

Inside stood a young boy in a suit with a mask on.

"𝘐𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘏-𝘏𝘦𝘯𝘳𝘺?" I mumbled as I stared at the boy.

𝘿𝙖𝙢𝙣 𝙞𝙩! He kind of looks cool... And of course, that mask does not help conceal his identity! Besides, why is he wearing a black suit on Halloween? What is he dressing up as?

"Who are you?" He asked.

"It's Natalie" I answered.

See! He can't recognize me. As expected of a supporting character like me.

"Ohh... I kind of see the resemblance now. Whatever, we need to get to the gym to see if the sound is functioning. Follow me" Henry said.

I nodded and followed him.

This Halloween event will definitely go well!
