A Villainess's Struggles

Chapter 47 - The Villainess and The Halloween Event ②

The gymnasium was designed very beautifully yet it was spooky too. To be able to plan out such a wonderful combination of props, our school is full of talented individuals!

I followed Henry towards a crowd where the other two members of the student council were standing. When they saw us, they waved at us.

"Good morning Natalie" Allen greeted.

A-As expected of my friend, being able to recognize me so easily!

"Good morning to you too" I greeted back.

"Alice in Wonderland... Hmm, it looks nice on you" Blake smiled.

"O-Oh no, you flatter me... Hahaha..." I replied.

Very smooth at complimenting like usual. Good thing Allen and Blake dressed up as something that was actually identifiable unlike this boy next to me in a suit. Allen was dressed up as a police officer and Blake wore clothes resembling a vampire. And of course, the masks they wore could not cover up the radiance of their visuals.

There was an hour left until the students in sixth grade were going to enter. I was feeling a bit nervous as this event was planned out by the student council. If it ends in some sort of chaos, it may not look good on us.

Suddenly, the lights in the gymnasium started flickering. My homeroom teacher went to check what was wrong with the lights. This better not be a red flag...

Around 5 minutes later, the lights started working again. Phew... Seems like the lights won't be a problem.

For the rest of the hour, my homeroom teacher continued explaining about how we must monitor the area well and make sure that no students get into fights. I was almost about to fall asleep if not for Allen continuously waking me up.

~~~~~
"Wow! Natalie and the others sure put in lots of effort into this Halloween event" said a young girl wandering around in her Victorian dress.
"Yes she did. I really like the atmosphere in here" a girl in a white lab coat replied.
Anna... Olivia...
I want to be there with you girls but-!
"Natalie, it's time. Stop staring at your friends" an angry voice called out to me. That voice belonged to the one and only, Henry.
I'm stuck with these student council members!
"The teacher told us to split into pairs to monitor the area. I've been thinking that I should go with Blake- wait no, maybe Allen... Actually..." Henry said.
Allen, Blake and I stared at each other and sighed. I bet we're all thinking...
'Not this again! He's so indecisive!'
I know I've been wondering this for quite a while now but Henry has many flaws for being described as the "perfect man" in the comic. How could the dumb me from my past life actually fan-girl over this guy?
"Then how about I'll go with Natalie and you can go with Blake" Allen suggested.
"No, I also want to go with you too. Since I can't choose between you two, maybe I'll just go with Natalie" replied Henry.
"Henry, you and Natalie don't seem to get along quite well. I'm afraid that may cause some problems. I think that either Allen or I should go with Natalie" Blake recommended.
Is it just me or does this suddenly start to look they're fighting to be my partner? I'm about 99% sure that this situation happened unintentionally but it kind of makes me feel popular. The Natalie back in the comic would've tried to go with all of them if she had the option...
"How about we get Natalie to pick?" Allen said.
"T-Then how about you three go together and I'll just be by myself?" I asked.
"That's a no. Follow the teacher's instructions" Henry answered.
Ughhhhh, what do you want me to do then? Choose? I'm quite indecisive too! Plus, if I wanted to choose Allen or Blake, Henry's not going to be happy with the result regardless.
"Okay, I've decided. Let's leave it to fate" I smiled.
The three boys stared at me confused.
"Rock, paper, scissors. Whoever loses goes with me!" I suggested.
The result was Henry winning and Allen barely winning against Blake. Alleeenn, I believed in you! Now I'm stuck with this dude...
"It seems like we end up together quite often" Blake said.
"Yes, I agree with you. A little too often, I'd say" I responded.
"I guess you really do hate me" He sighed.
"N-No, I-I really don't... Haha... I mean, as long as you don't say weird things" I said.
"Weird things?" Blake asked.
"Like what you said back at the Christmas party" I answered.
"Ohh, you don't have to take my words that seriously" Blake said.
"...Well then, let's get going" I replied.
~~~~~

After hours of wandering around, I realized how pointless the student council was. There was no fights or arguments anywhere! I doubt any are going to appear at all!

"We literally just keep walking around! There's nothing for us to do... Ahh, my legs hurt... Look, everyone else is having fun!" I complained as I sat down on a chair nearby.

"Shh, that is not something someone from the student council should say..." Blake whispered and sighed.

Anyone can tell that he was really tired as well. During this period of time, Blake had many girls approach him. They could tell that it was him with the mask on, I mean, it was obvious.

From a distance, I could see poor Henry and Allen not being able to do their job properly thanks to the girls. The only reason why no one is around Blake is because I'm here. It's almost like he's using me as a shield.

"Come on, we need to get back to monitoring" He said.

I got up front my seat but then suddenly, the lights went out. I could not see a single thing and everyone was freaking out.

"Where did Blake go..." I sighed.

"Right here" a voice replied to me.

I held on to what I assumed was his cape for his vampire costume with my hands so that I do not get pushed by the students who were freaking out around me.

"Sorry, just for now" I apologized to him.

"It's fine-"

Someone ran into me and dropped their glass of juice. I was pushed forward along with Blake. There was a loud sound as this person fell onto the ground along with the glass shattering. My dress was also stained with orange juice.

"Ouch!" A feminine voice yelled out.

The lights came back on and I was able to see who fell. The lady in front of me... It was May. Ugh, not her again.

She was injured as the glass shards scratched her hand. I let go of Blake's cape and squatted down to check on her. Before I could open my mouth to talk to her, a girl ran out from the crowd that was surrounding us.

"It's you! You pushed May down! I can't believe you would take advantage of the dark and injure May! I know that there are many girls that are jealous of May but how could you do something as inhumane as that?!" The girl shouted at me.

I stared at her with my resting face which may have scared her as it made her move back a little. This girl is part of May's group. There were many whispers coming from the people around me. To my left, I could see Anna and Olivia about to rush in and help but I stopped them by gesturing. I don't really want them to get involved into this mess.

"Do you have any evidence that I pushed her?" I asked.

"What other evidence do I need when you were clearly next to her when she fell?" The girl answered.

"Then why would I get orange juice on this new dress I'm wearing?" I continued asking.

"P-Probably an accident or so that people wouldn't suspect it's you" She replied.

"Well, how would I know that May's the one I pushed?" I inquired.

The girl turned to May and said, "... May, she pushed you right? All we need is the victim's testimony"

"Um... She..." May hesitated.

"Come on May, you shouldn't be afraid! It's not the time to be nice" The girl continued adding pressure.

Even May doesn't want to lie in this situation as she believes that there's too much evidence that I didn't do it.

Footsteps approached us and I looked upwards to see that it was Blake.

"Natalie didn't do it" He said.

"E-Eh? B-Blake! I-I mean, why?" The girl blushed.

"She was with me holding onto my cape and was pushed by the girl who fell over there. I was also pushed" Blake explained.

It took Blake two sentences for everyone to believe him. Where is the equality in this world?!

"Yes that's right... Kassandra, Natalie didn't do anything. I accidentally fell... It's all my fault, I'm so sorry!" May apologized.

Smart girl. She really knows how to take control of the situation.

"Really? Ah..." The girl named Kassandra said as she stared at me.

She quickly ran out the gym. The crowd then scattered.

Not even an apology?

"Are you okay?" I asked May as I stood up and stretched out my hand.

"... I'm fine. This was an accident and I already apologized so don't hold this against me" She said as she grabbed my hand to stand up and left to chase after her friend.

I feel like I jinxed a lot of things today.

Olivia and Anna walked towards me and asked me if I was injured anywhere because of the glass shards. Blake immediately called for a janitor to help clean up the glass shards. An announcement was made by my homeroom teacher saying that the lights were a bit old so they will be fixed in a few days. He also warned the students to stay away from the area with the glass shards.

After the chaos disappeared, the event was ended. Pretty much everyone left except for the people who helped organize the event. We were finishing up putting the props away.

"The teacher said we can leave now" Henry said to us all.

When I get home, I'm going to take a long shower. What a long day...

But before I leave...

"Hey Blake" I greeted.

"Yes?" He replied.

"T-Thanks for today. If not for you, I'd be in the teacher's office right now" I said.

I guess he can be nice at times. Maybe after this incident, I can change my opinion on him.

"Hmm... You're welcome but you now owe me a favor for this" Blake smiled.

I take that back. I still do not want to be involved with this guy.
