A Villainess's Struggles

"A-Anna and Olivia... Where are you two going?" I asked as I was out of breath.

"Come on Natalie, you're so slow" Anna replied.

Currently we're having free time and we're allowed to go anywhere within this area.

"Wow, as expected of someone like Natalie~ She really has no stamina"

... It's May and her girls.

"Girls, don't say that. We shouldn't be so rude" said May.

She's still keeping up that angel act?

"Well, where are you guys going?" May asked.

"There's a cool old abandoned house that I want to visit near this area" Olivia replied.

Why did you tell her, rather, that's where we're going?!

"What a coincidence! That's where we're going too!" One of the girls who stood next to May said.

Hey, that girl looks familiar... Yup, it's that girl from the Christmas party.

For some reason, May started shivering slightly... Oh my, don't tell me...

"Let's go together" I suggested.

Everyone looked at me shocked and confused. I'm just curious about something...

When we arrived, Anna decided to play a ridiculous game.

"Let's go in there in pairs! Whichever pair gets out of the abandoned house the fastest wins!" She exclaimed.

"The pairs will be decided with drawing lots. Here, you girls can go first" Olivia said as she took out a box with white papers.

One after one, we all drew papers.

"If you have the same number as someone else, then you two are a pair" Anna said.

Hmm, number 3...

"Aww, May you're number 3? Too bad I can't be with you" one of the girls said.

I looked at May and I looked at my number. May stared back at me and walked closer.

"Number 3 right? Let's work hard!" She smiled and held onto my hands.

Her hands are s-shaking...

"We'll go in by order so number 1s go first" said Olivia.

After the first and second pair went, it was my turn. I am not looking forward to this due to my fear of rodents. If a mouse jumps out, I think I might scream and faint.

May and I walked into the abandoned house. Before I knew it, May grabbed onto my arms.

"H-Hey, don't grab onto me so tight. It's not like I'm not afraid" I said.

"W-Who's afraid?! I'm not scared... I'm just holding onto your arm because you might be scared..." May replied while shaking.

As we walked through the abandoned house, there were sounds of creaking. May grabbed onto my arm even tighter to the point I couldn't even feel my arms.

"You're holding on to me so hard. Are you trying to kill me?" I asked.

"N-No I'm just..." She answered.

"Just-?"

Suddenly, there was a barrel rolling down in the abandoned house.

"KYAHHH!!!" May screamed.

She pulled me along with her as she ran like an athlete. I couldn't feel my legs or my arm that she was holding onto.

When we stopped running, we were already in the second floor. I was kneeling on the ground and I was panting.

The girl next to me was still shivering in fear.

"Why'd you come if you were scared?" I asked with a sigh.

"R-Reputation, got a problem with that?" May responded.

"Okay, then how about I'll just leave you here alone" I said as I stood up.

"E-Eh?! Please no...!" May mumbled.

"Hmm? What did you say?" I asked.

"Please don't leave me here alone! I'm sorry for what I've done in the past!" May yelled.

"Everyone outside is going to hear you..." I replied.

As I was descending the stairs, I knew something was wrong with the last two steps.

I stopped but May didn't seem to notice and bumped into me causing me to step and break the stairs. This is the second time she bumped into me... There was a loud crack sound and could be heard by people outside.

Staff immediately came in to see what was happening.

"These stairs were a bit old but we did not them to break. I apologize for all the troubles" the staff said as he bowed towards me.

"No it's fine... As you can see, I didn't receive any injuries" I replied with a smile.

"Once again, I'm very sorry for the inconvenience" The staff member continued.

The staff member went on and on with apologies and I just couldn't stand them anymore. I'd rather have mother scold me than hear these.

When we were able to leave, it was already time for us to return to the teachers.

Before I went back to Olivia and Anna, May pulled me over onto the side.

"Give me your hand" She said.

I stretched out my hand confused. Does she want my hand...?

May pulled out a bandage and placed it onto a scr.a.p.e I had near my hands.

"I'm sorry and I'll make sure to be more careful next time" She apologized.

My eyes widen as I stared at her in shock.

"Have a good day, Miss Natalie" May said as she bowed and walked away.

... What was that?

Later on in the trip, I asked Anna why there was a barrel rolling down in the abandoned house. She told me that the abandoned house was slightly tilted and the barrel probably fell over due to something knocking it down.

What knocked it down though?

During the rest of the trip, I got to see place such as the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, and the Hocking Hills State Park. I had a great time and bought lots of souvenirs for my family.

The trip ended really quickly. On the plane ride home, I realized that it was almost time for my graduation. Soon, I will be going to middle school and major characters of the comic will start to appear...!
