Chapter Six: What are you getting so agitated about?

In the café Xu Zhun saw the client he had an appointment with. He and Manager Li had met a few times before and were thus quite familiar with each other.

“Hello, Manager Li! I apologize for my tardiness!”

Xu Zhun courteously extended his hand, and Manager Li shook it: ” Xiao (Little) Xu ah! I haven’t seen you for a few days, why have you lost weight? Eat well, you young people should not always think about losing weight. This figure of yours is not bad at all! There’s really no need to diet and lose weight.”

He didn’t know whether it was intentional or not, but Manager Li’s hand couldn’t stop rubbing Xu Zhun’s fingers.

Xu Zhun’s expression stiffened and he extirped his hand back with some force.

Manager Li’s action made him feel uncomfortable and strange at the same time. It was reasonable to say that an ordinary courteous handshake should not be like this.

“Manager Li, thank you for your concern! I will take better care of my health!” Xu Zhun then took out the company’s documents, “Take a look, this is the recently drawn up contract. I relayed the problems you mentioned last time to the manager and they were all properly resolved for you.”

Manager Li’s wistful expression seemed to reflect his disinterest in what Xu Zhun had to say about business matters, “Xiao Xu, let’s not talk about that for now.”

Xu Zhun could not understand what Manager Li meant and looked at him in bewilderment.

Manager Li surveyed him, his eyes narrowing slightly behind his lenses, a greedy light flashing through them.

The air was tinged with the slightest hint of heat in this early summer weather. Xu Zhun was wearing a white dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up at the elbows, revealing the firmness of his arms. Due to his illness, his face was fair and his eyes were dark and wide.

Xu Zhun had beautiful features and although he was dressed in very ordinary clothes, he gave out a clean fresh aura paired with a nice smile.

On their very first meeting, Xu Zhun had caught the attention of Manager Li.

Manager Li was attracted to both men and women and favoured good-looking boys, and as luck would have it, Xu Zhun was particularly to his liking.

The next few meetings made Manager Li like Xu Zhun even more. This time when he saw him, he couldn’t resist the foolish temptation in his heart and he had the intention of taking advantage of this opportunity to negotiate what he thought to be a sweet deal.

He reached across the table and held Xu Zhun’s hand: “I haven’t seen you in the past few days, did you miss me? I missed you a lot. Let’s not talk about business today, let’s enjoy ourselves and chat. I don’t just treat you as a client, I also treat you as a friend. You won’t reject me and refuse to treat me as a friend, will you?”

The alienation in Xu Zhun’s heart was growing stronger, but he could not refuse on the spot.

Tugging the corners of his mouth in a soft smile, he didn’t know what to say.

Seeing that Xu Zhun was dumbfounded and didn’t outright refuse it, Manager Li was even bolder as he clasped Xu Zhun’s hand and spoke more directly: “Xiao Zhun ah! Let’s go to the hotel tonight and talk about the contract. What do you think? If you don’t want to go to a hotel, it’s okay to go to your house.”

Xu Zhun took the chance to deflect by pulling out the contract: “Manager Li, I’ve brought the contract. We can talk now since the proposal is written very clearly; you can put forward any comments you have.”

Manager Li’s expression sank and he said with displeasure: “I’ve made it so clear, how come you still can’t understand? I am interested in you, let’s be friends first. If you can please me, the contract will naturally be discussed well.”

Xu Zhun’s face instantly turned even paler as his widened eyes stared in shock at the sleazy man across from him.

“Manager Li, you’ve got it wrong! I’m here to negotiate a contract, not to be sold.”

“What are you getting so agitated about?” Manager Li said in a low voice, “I want a beautiful young lover and you want the contract. What’s wrong with us hitting it off and each getting what we respectively want?”
