Ancient Vampire in a Modern World

Boogshhh!!

The gas bomb exploded and green smoke instantly enveloped the surroundings. The second leader who threw the dagger earlier was enveloped by the gas and fell unconscious. This was also the same for the strongest man in close combat in their group. The bomb contains a poisonous gas that has a sleeping effect on anyone who inhales it. 

The leader was safe and was not affected by the gas but his vision was obstructed by the smoke that came out from the bomb. He tried to search through the old man with his eyes and soon found that the old man was not in front of him. Then after just a second thought struck him and made him panic. He looked in the direction where the tree of life was and saw that a shadowy figure was rushing towards it.

He can only see the shadow of Han Shin because of the thick green smoke that was caused by the bomb enveloping the surroundings and no one can enter it because of the sleeping effect of the smoke. Han Shin naturally has an antidote for himself which is why he was the only one that can stand inside the green smoke. When the smoke was already getting thinner he threw another bomb and it was in the direction of the tree of life. 

But before the bomb could get closer in the tree of life an arrow shoved it and it then exploded on the spot. Green smoke spread out of the bomb and engulfed the surroundings. Even the place where the tree of life was planted was also engulfed by the green smoke. 

Han Shin was not worried that the bomb didn't reach the tree of life because the radius of where the sleeping gas would spread was big enough to engulf the space where the tree of life was. Han Shin rushed forward but then an arrow shot his leg again. He stumbled forward but still kept his pace in running forward to the tree of life. 

The leader was just blindly guessing where he would attack but because of his eyes, he was still able to at least gauge the location of Han Shin even when Han Shin was inside the green smoke which obstructed his vision. After throwing out an attack he heard the sound of flesh being pierced which means that his attack was successful.

He then pulled out another arrow from the quiver as he placed it on his bow and pulled the bowstring. He stretched the string until he couldn't stretch it anymore. He blinked then looked through the green smoke in front of him. And as if his vision went through the green smoke, in his eyes he could see a running old man whose left leg was pierced by an arrow while in his lower leg an open flesh was exposed in the surroundings. 

He could see everything very clearly as he activated and put all his focus on his eyes. After looking through the running old man he slid his aim and it aimed in front of the old man. His aim kept moving forward until it reached a certain point from the old man's front. 

Han Shin saw through the attacks of the man but he couldn't stop his movements in time and he was sure that the arrow and his head would meet and intersect with each other. To avoid being damaged severely Han Shin expended a lot of his qi and an invisible barrier formed in the side of his head. It directly obstructed the attack of the leader. 

But in the next moment, the arrow did not even stop for a moment as it continued its descent towards Han Shin's head. Han Shin was startled but very quickly he used his qi again and it materialized in the side of his head to defend against the incoming arrow. The qi he materializes this time was slanted and before the arrow could hit the qi that he just materialized. He performed another qi materialization that created another layer of shield at the side of his head. 

It was done in just a matter of seconds. Han Shin was able to do it because he had practised using his qi in his whole body which is much more practice than his own body. He can control his qi faster than his own body which is why he was able to defend against the arrow with just his qi alone. 

But despite how hard he practised his qi he still couldn't do what he just did and it was only due to the special drug he used before engaging in combat. During his fight with the leader the drug still hasn't taken effect yet which is why he took a hit from the leader because if the drug took effect on him before he engaged in a fight with the leader. The leader wouldn't even pose a threat to him. 

Han Shin felt that he was very lucky as the drug took effect on a perfect timing. He felt grateful to his brother who gave him the medicine to enhance one's mental capability. If not for that medicine he would now be dead right now. 

Sigh!!

He heaved a sigh of relief as he thought, "I need to be more careful from now on, I didn't expect him to be able to hit me even when I am inside this thick green smoke. '

The medicine he took was not illegal. This kind of medicine was acknowledged by the Union and different states but it is only possible to use this kind of medicine if you are an ability user or a practitioner.

Han Shin was clueless about the effect of the medicine earlier. He just followed the advice of his brother who said " Eat this before you fight and make sure to finish them in twenty minutes. It will enhance your mental capability." That is all what he says but Han Shin only followed his advice. When he took the medicine he thought that his brother was just exaggerating about its effect as he didn't feel anything on his body or change on his own. 

But now he was feeling like he could do anything and in his vision, time seemed to be flowing differently and everything was moving slowly. This was the effect of the medicine he just took which enhanced the capabilities of the mind to a certain extent. It allows anyone to have a 150% increase in perception but the higher the perception of the one who takes it the lower the effect of the medicine will be.

And for Han Shin who is a cultivator, the increase was not that great but it was also not worthless. Han Shin was also able to think faster due to the medicine which is why he can use qi as a shield even though the arrow almost reached his head he was still able to react. He had already thought of moving his head at first but even with his full strength, he would not be able to dodge in time unless he used his full power until his neck breaks. 

The arrow then encountered the qi that was materialized in the air. The arrow slanted a little until the materialized qi shattered and became one with the air. 

The arrow then continued to descend until it collided with the materialized qi. Because the arrow already encountered two materialized qi before the force power was naturally reduced which is why after it hits the third materialized qi the arrow slanted and collided with it. The materialized qi didn't shatter easily unlike the first two. It successfully changes the direction of the arrow until his materialized qi also shatters.

The arrow didn't hit his head and went past his back. Han Shin continued running as he looked at the surroundings he saw that all of the guards guarding the tree had already fallen unconscious. Then as he was getting nearer to the tree he saw a small-sized plant in the ground. The plant was in the shape of a tree but it was only a meter tall which is not on par with normal tree size. But by the shape of the tree, it looks like that it was already a fully grown sized tree. 

Han Shin saw that in the tree there was a small branch that was the only displacement in the tree. In the branch there is a circular shaped fruit Han Shin immediately understands. It was the fruit of life that was his goal. He planned to use it to save his grandson who was in the hospital because of an accident. 

He rushed forward and ready to pluck the fruit of life anytime but then he heard footsteps coming from the back. He saw the bulky man that he encountered earlier. This was the strongest man in the camp and naturally, he was able to deflect the poison from his boss.
