Becoming a Phantom Thief from the World of American Comics

PS of the recent plot and a small request for leave

Everyone, Yuzu is currently exploring how to combine the Phantom Thieves style with local DC events, so he plans to create a semi-original event. Why do you say semi-original? Because I haven’t made much changes to the origin story of Black Mask. , only the subsequent events involved were original.

It can’t be said that there have been no changes at all. After all, the origin of Black Mask was not in the Dick era, but in the Jason era.

Jason is the second generation Robin. He was spotted by Batman because he stole the tires of the Batmobile, and he adopted him as his second son.

This is calculated based on the publication time of the comics. Robin was already Jason when Black Mask first appeared. However, due to the fragmented narrative model of DC's non-linear unit drama, Black Mask's origin time is constantly changing. of.

Some versions already have Black Mask in Dick's era, and some versions are as early as Batman's rookie period.

Generally speaking, Black Mask and Jason have the most grievances, but I don’t think it’s a big problem when Black Mask will debut, so I boldly moved it forward to now.

This is just like Killer Croc and Bane. Killer Croc is also a villain in Jason's era, and Bane is a villain in Tim's era. However, in the short comic "Robin and Batman", Dick fights Killer Croc. The plot of the.

Logically speaking, Killer Croc should not have existed at that time, but it turned out that he appeared, and even a calculator showed his face.

In addition, Calculator is actually positioned as the oracle of the super villain. It only appeared after Barbara was paralyzed and became an oracle in The Killing Joke. Calculator felt that their villain camp should also have an intelligence information center. Also known as the Secret Society of Super Villains.

But like Cassandra and Black Mask, I think it doesn't matter when Calculator debuts, as long as you know that this person exists.

The big event I'm writing about now may not be qualified to be called a big event in your eyes. There are no aliens and there's no super-powerful villain that can explode the sky, so why should it be called a big event?

This is indeed the case. The scale of major events in the Bat Family is usually not particularly large, and there are no villains with outrageous combat power. After all, the Bat Family are all mortals.

Moreover, I don’t dare to write about big events with high combat power now. It feels too disconnected from the previous plot. It would be better to gradually increase the threat of the enemy in stages.

Some readers previously thought that Yuzu was trying to level down the protagonist, but that was not the case. Instead, I was always trying to level up the protagonist's opponents.

There is no way around this. Many readers lack understanding of DC. IMHO, DC’s movies are not of reference value. Be it "Joker" or "The Dark Knight", they are of course very good movies. I I personally like it very much too.

But that is to be judged as a "movie". The world in the movie is too small and cannot be connected with the comics.

I am not here to say that comics are necessarily better than movies, but in terms of breadth of content, comics that have been serialized for more than 80 years are undoubtedly better than a few high-quality movies.

When writing long online novels, which can often run into millions of words, the richness of the content always comes first.

DC's high-quality movies are too independent and not suitable for expanding the world line at all, and the quality of movies that can be integrated into a system is too poor. Naturally, focusing on the comic world view is the best choice.

Sorry, it's a bit off topic.

Yuzi now encounters a big problem, that is, the style and plot of Kaito Kidd are difficult to harmonize with the overall plot of Gotham and even DC.

First of all, it is simply unrealistic for the protagonist to ignore major events.

For example, in the current incident, Black Mask has released all the criminals in Blackgate Prison, which will lead to riots throughout Gotham. The protagonist will still be affected even if he is lying at home doing nothing.

Incidents of this level can only be said to be commonplace in the DC world.

Then a question arises here: what should the protagonist do in a big event and in what capacity?

Do you still want to dress up as Kidd and steal it? But what can be stolen to solve the riots in the city?

Obviously it can't be solved.

Does that mean that the protagonist has to watch, hide in a safe place and do nothing?

Of course it’s okay to think about this approach from a rational perspective, but is it really possible to write a novel like this?

Who wants to read it?

But on the other hand, it feels a bit outrageous to see a real-life Phantom Thief mowing the grass in a Musou and knocking down hundreds of people by himself.

So now I want to find the middle balance.

At first, I wanted to focus on the supporting characters and let the protagonist only appear at key plot points, so that the whole big event seemed to have at least a complete plot context, but I soon realized that this was not the right way to write it.

What I wrote was Dean’s story, not the story of the original Kidd, and not the story of the other supporting characters.

So I immediately cut my losses and turned my perspective back to Dean.

I already have some ideas in my mind about how to write next. Although it may not necessarily be brilliant, I think this is a necessary attempt.

After the protagonist leaves Gotham, something far more outrageous than imagined will surely happen.

Do I want to write that the protagonist exhausts all means and still loses indisputably, to break the fantasy of Kaitou Kidd showing off in DC?

Isn’t this abusing the owner?

Yuzi is a common person and doesn't really like the plot of abusing the protagonist. Even if she is unhappy, she can barely accept it, but she doesn't accept the abuse.

Except for bloody sadomasochism, that is not called a sadomasochism, it is just watching the fun and not taking it too seriously.

Anyway, I want to carefully prepare for the complete unfolding of the big events later on. I took a little leave today and only updated one chapter.

Although it might seem a little boastful, so far, even if Yuzu wants to ask for leave, she will always make a new chapter. Although she owes one more, at least she has not interrupted the update, and will make up for it soon.

At least I personally feel that my character in this aspect is still guaranteed.

Thank you for taking the trouble. After watching such a long nagging and complaining, Yuzu will definitely try her best to write a plot that is not so brain-dead, although Yuzu herself has no brains.

By the way, I also mentioned before that I need to sort out the plots related to Batman comics. I don’t have much time to do it recently. I will find time to make up for it later, but it takes a long time to do this.
