With money under her belt, Hong Luo felt much more secure. As they say, a man without money, is like a bow without arrows. As long as you have it, when you need it, then all those money signs can be shot full of holes.

With this thought in mind, Hong Luo doesn't feel the need to stay in the market anymore. I thought about buying cloth and coal for my bath, but its too crowded, and I'm too tired! She lamented. About to head back home, something catches her eye.

A man barreling down the walkway. He nudges Hong Luo slightly, not looking back as he runs with a fire is in his pants.

"STOP! THIEF!"

A breathless girl, dressed in a servants gown, her hair all out of place, sweating a storm, comes pushing her way through the crowds of people.

The breathless girl trips over her feet, skillfully caught by Hong Luo's out reached arm.

"Careful!"

Given a moment to catch her breath, the girl responds "Thank you kind miss. I'm in a hurry, bye!"

A tug on her arms stops her from running ahead.

"Let go! I need to catch that thief! I don't have time to adhere to formalities." Helplessly she screams out.

Hong Luo tightens her grip, "Calm yourself. There's no need to give chase."

Temper flaring, her face which was red turns black, the breathless girl spits venom as she glares. "I say what is your reason for stopping this miss?"

"Your grip is unwarranted, yet you don't release!"

"How utterly rude and barbaric!"

"Lady without manners!"

"Did your mother teach you shit!"

"Oh this miss knows! Are you together with that thief?"

"Pig following a pig, why must you spread your slop when all could care less!"

Hong Luo sighs ruefully. What a temper. She brings her hand up to the temperamental girl.

"You..."

When the girl takes a look at what's in Hong Luo's hand, the fire in her eyes gets doused with a bucket of icy water. Her face turns white in shame. Her temper was always bad hence her master would lecture her to the heavens. Yet here it is again, rearing its ugly head, and at an innocent person to boot!

What was in Hong Luo's palm was the stolen pouch. The very item the breathless girl was bent on retrieving.

Hong Luo watched the poor girl who's so tongue-tied, if left alone, she'd be the first reported case to choke on air. Waiting for her to respond won't fix this at all. So she places the pouch in the breathless girl's hand.

"Take a breather, that thief bumped into me, and dropped it. Since its yours I return what's right back to its master."

At the side, Nuyun raised a brow. Just randomly dropped it huh? He could clearly see what happened. The thief did indeed bump into her, but it was she who purposely allowed it to happen. Makes one curious how she was able to train her movements to be so fast. Within a blink, she skillfully swapped the pouch with a rock. His eyes turn to crescents.

Trained movements? If Hong Luo heard this she'd laugh until tears fell. If you had spirit beast that loved stealing your things, then you'd be just as 'skilled' as she is at retrieving.

Hong Luo concluded that her words fell on deaf ears. So she helplessly left the girl in her own world. It's not my problem anymore, I did my job already. So she walked away, with Nuyun in tow.

Once the girl came back to herself, Hong Luo was long gone.

. . .

Nuyun and Hong Luo were walking side by side on the journey back, their pace had slowed considerably. Hong Luo was losing energy fast. For a lazy person like her, walking around a market was akin to an eight mile run. She didn't have the motivation nor the energy to persevere. She badly needed a distraction from this.

Taking in a breath to hold then letting it out she drawls. "If I weren't afraid of wasting energy, I'd slap you right across the head, then send you to the stars."

Nuyun glances down at the little girl that just threatened him. If this were before he'd have killed with those words, but now he just found them funny. How could this little frame send me to the stars? He was honestly curious and so he spoke.

"Why?"

Without a beat, she lazily responds, "Not listening to this doctor's words, what else warrants the trip?" Pausing her steps, pointing toward his lower abdomen. "This doctor clearly remembers her warning, but apparently someone did not." Her eyes narrow, asking him if he understood.

His eyes flicker. Of course he knew what she was hinting at. He indeed used power above the limit. But it was his body, a little pain was nothing, he'd just grit his teeth and b.a.r.e it. Hence he felt his actions were justified. He just hadn't thought she be so perceptive. With his years of experience, how could he think a little girl could see through him. It was difficult for his men let alone a little girl. Is this the benefit of the medical profession? He mused.

Hong Luo was upset, why hadn't he asked me for treatment yet? I already know so shouldn't this be a given? He doesn't plan to endure the pain does he? Her lips pursed, as her mood instantly dropped. If she had a pare of ears they'd be laying down flat.

Whispers were a drift on the wind, carrying into Nuyun's ears as his thoughts wandered.

"What a sweet looking child, how could anyone dare to yell?"

"Look look, someone dared, see how sad she looks? Oh my heart, it's breaking."

"Humph, how ins.e.n.s.i.t.i.v.e."

"If I were her I'd cry too, look at how scary that man is?"

"True, there's a nasty feeling around him, just looking at him makes me feel cold. Imagine the pain of the child!"

"Aiya, some people just don't know when enough is enough."

The snickering of the passing people pulled Nuyun out of his thoughts. He hadn't a clue it was him they were talking about until he glanced down. His little rabbit looked ready to bolt once more. A pang of guilt washed over his heart. But since he'd never felt this feeling, it was akin to falling into deep waters, impossible to breath as the pressure kept rising.

Gripping his c.h.e.s.t, he reached out to pet the rabbit, he didn't like this feeling, and really wanted it gone.

Hong Luo was currently busy pondering whether to move. She had already stayed in this one spot for awhile, enjoying the lack of movement. Sadly she had to move eventually. She just didn't want to walk all the way back home. Why did that detestable courtyard have to be so far? Ah, if only Tubby was here, I could just ride his back, losing not a single iota of energy. She truly missed her spirit pets, specially her monolith bear Tubby.

With the world's most softest tummy, the perfect back for riding, an all rounder in transport and sleep! The more she thought, the more sad she became. If it weren't for Little Soul, she would feel all alone here. Everyone was gone and she had to stick it to life. I don't understand why this happened. Ah, she couldn't help but sigh.

At this moment a large coarse had landed on her head, stroking in gentle motions. It felt rather nice. She looked at the one who was petting her, and freaked.

'Holy Buddha! I forgot about my patient! Look at how much pain he's in, the poor fellow was gripping his heart!' She berated herself endlessly. She took his hand that was currently still in motion and pulled him forward.

"Let's go home, I'll treat you once there. Don't keep it to yourself anymore."

With such a solemn look on her face, how could Nuyun have any complaints. His mind had actually pieced together into believing she was upset over his condition. He realized what he felt was the legendary guilt he heard tale of. With all the dots connected, abhorring the new feeling, he'll listen to her warnings from now on. If he knew what she had actually been upset over, who knows how he'd react.

. . .

On the way back, not far from the Hong Manor entrance. Sounds of shrieks startled Hong Luo into a stop. Getting a closer look, her frame hidden behind a cherry blossom tree.

The gates flung open, guards rush in, while female servants rush out with faces cradled in their palms. Following soon after, small hairy objects came scurrying out.

Squeak. Looking down, Hong Luo picks up a stray hairy object. To her surprise it was a rat!

"Spirit rat!" Hong Luo exclaims aloud in her shock.

Who in the world attracted spirit rats in the Hong Manor? These things are hell to get rid of.

Those foolish nobles can't be that stupid right? Could it be this was someone's prank? That would make much more sense. Either way, that's the price of offending someone who must not be offended, she shrugged, not caring in least.

Her thoughts weren't far from the truth. A certain someone was relishing this moment. Who knows how or why he did it. But he's obviously happy about the result. The smile on his face was cold, and his eyes held traces of killing intent.

Ignorant to Nuyun's change, Hong Luo laughs like a greedy merchant, causing Nuyun to glance over with his brow raised, the killing intent in his eyes had long vanished.

Another man's misfortune is this lady's meal ticket. Who can say no to a free meal. Hong Luo joyfully thought to herself. She was planning to cook these rats, obtaining free meat! A burst of energy pushed her forward as she grabbed a few extra rats.

Inside the manor all the spirit rats, in an uncoordinated fashion, shiver explicitly. Any and all rats that dare approach Forbearing Bygone, will heavily regret their actions. That is if they are stupid enough to travel the distance.
