Blood Emperor's Lazy Doctor [Hiatus]

Chapter 26 - No such thing as coincidence.

While conversing with Doctor Wu, Hong Luo was still quite tired.

Why can't I keep these darn lids from falling? All I did was use a single Flower Bomb on that greedy bastard, running not so far even.

Ai, this has to be because of my lack of cultivation! Oh Buddha, if a single Flower Bomb turns me to mush. Heavens be damned, even this lazy sister will have to find a method to right the wrong!

Albeit she had already somewhat planned to do so. But lets just say, she has more of a reason now.

'Little Soul, search the combat tower. Pile up all my junk so I can sift through them later.' Let's hope there's anything useful! She was feeling quite hopeful, optimistic even!

There was no response.

Strange.

'Little Soul?' She probed.

There was still no response.

Just about to ask again, the little fellow finally responded with a sigh. Yet his words left her dumbfounded.

[Mistress, that junk should be the least of your worries. Aren't you concerned about the mess you made? Ai, my mistress, aren't you going to take responsibility for your actions? How irresponsible.]

After dropping that bomb on her, he left to sift through the junk.

He swears, if it weren't for this darn building, he'd never believe there'd come a day he'd have sympathy for a tower.

Who told his mistress to turn a glorified combat tower into a junk bin? Why couldn't she just use it as how it was meant to be?

Right, of course, it would waste energy if she did that.

Absentmindedly she turns her head toward the suspicious hole in the wall. It didn't take much for her to understand what happened. An unfortunate soul had attempted to wake her, and she sent that soul flying...

As Little Soul stated, she indeed had to take responsibility.

Returning her gaze to the old man. "Sir Bushy Beard, allow this little one to apologize for causing damage to your home. Please allow this little one to pay."

Soon as her words left her mouth, Little Soul made her face pale in shame.

[Mistress you left your money with Tofu Eater.]

Darn it! Why did I leave it with him? What was he even going to do with all that money? Did he even need it? She had just shoved it to him without much of an explanation as she ran away from him this morning. God how was she going to pay for anything in the market? She's so stupid!

Hong Luo was currently in a mental crisis, But Doctor Wu didn't seem to notice as he laughed slightly.

"Think nothing of it. Keep your money, this old man does not want it."

She shook her head profusely. How could she dine and dash when the boss of the establishment is right front and center? This isn't her first property damage, but this is the first time the owner was her savior, ah!

This little lazy coward had her morals too! She couldn't stint on a savior!

"No! If Sir Bushy Beard won't take this little one's money, then state your terms! If within reason, this little one will comply."

Doctor Wu saw how determined she was. Words alone seem to fall on deaf ears, as the little fellow was quite stubborn.

He contemplated as a crafty glint flashed in his eyes. Which this time Hong Luo caught it.

A shiver went up her spine. Did she just seal her doom? Why does she feel that she just fell into a trap?

Rubbing slightly under his nose, he shifted his gaze. "This old man's been lacking an assistant. As an old doctor, some details can be missed with age. Your youth will help a great deal."

He sighs. "All that will be needed is to sit, watch the clinic. Helping with medicine refinement. Even allow you to knock around this old man's maid. She's quite the hand full, but you'll learn to love her. Lastly accompany this old man when need be. What say you, are these terms sufficient?"

Blinking her eyes a few times. This wasn't what she expect, but she had no problem. After all she herself is a doctor. Easy enough right?

Yet, questionably she felt strange. Was she taking advantage of him or the other way around?

Thinking about complicated things like that just made her brain hurt. So she nodded her head in agreement, not thinking too deeply.

Grinning under his beard, Doctor Wu suggested she leave before his maid regained consciousness. Only he knew how she'd cling, stopping the little one from leaving, possibly scaring her. But he kept this to himself, she'll find out eventually.

"Best head home. My little Shi is a bit clingy. If she wakes while you're still here, you won't have the chance to leave."

A little confused with his reasoning, but she didn't question him. After all, who knows how long she had been gone! Her god of war was still waiting for her at home!

Hong Luo seems to have already forgotten that embarrassing incident this morning. With jolting b.u.t.t.o.c.k.s, she left the old doctor, using her newly formed hole as the exit.

Looking around as she skittered off. The area appeared to be at the end of the market. Many stalls of different variety were around. Some sold small trinkets, while others pieces of clothing. Surprisingly there was also a food stand. Although just one.

They were all small in size, yet quite lovely decorated. Obviously the owners put their hearts in. Yet one detail was the same amongst all.

They were deserted.

Very few customers seem to appear. Possibly from being far from the market center, she mused.

Abruptly pausing. Blinking a few times, her gaze locked on a handkerchief stand. Embroidered in beautiful colors. Even from afar the quality material could easily be seen.

Yet, her attention didn't seem to be on the merchandise, but more on the owner. An older female, she appeared to be in her late thirties. Time was very kind on her. Beneath her simple gown, her glossy skin looked to be soft as a babe.

Her brows furrowed. A nagging feeling was at the bottom of her gut, yet she couldn't figure out what it was.

Lingering a bit longer, her gaze falling on each stall owner.

Twirling her finger absentmindedly, her feet carried her back into the crowded market. She couldn't help but look at every person her eyes could see.

At times she stopped then proceeding once more. Deepening the knot in her brow as time passed.

Five.... six.... eight?

This is very strange. She couldn't help but think.

Not one, not two, hell not even ten!

[What's wrong mistress?] Why were her emotions going up and down? Having a soul contract, he was more than capable of feeling her emotional fluctuations. He couldn't help but ask.

She paused in place, contemplating on what appeared to be a difficult problem.

Reluctantly she replies, 'Little Soul, what are the odds of running into one of my patients?'

[Zero percent.] He stated confidently.

He was fully aware of the area his mistress was currently residing. According to his mistress, in a nearly perfect circle, death zones were positioned along the outer edges where the tribes lived. Fluctuations of spacial rifts to be more accurate. They weren't visible to the necked eye. Although if one were high in cultivation, it wouldn't be too hard to locate them. But avoiding would still be difficult, quite dangerously so.

He saw no benefit for any of her patients to risk coming to such a world. Hell they're would be no point. Compared to ordinary lower worlds, this one would be near the bottom with essence levels. Yet at the top for danger.

He just couldn't see a reason at all.

'Then tell me Little Soul. Why have I seen more than one of my patients, just merely walking through the market?' She stated, almost doubting her own words.

[How can that be possible? Are you sure mistress? Your memory isn't the best guide after all.]

'How could this doctor not recognize her own patient!' She stated with ting of anger. Doesn't Little Soul know me better? I'd never forget a patient!

Little Soul's breath got stuck in his throat. How could he forget how she prides herself on not forgetting a single patient? He must have lost his mind!

Quickly he apologizes. [I'm sorry Mistress Mozen.]

After waiting for her anger to fade he continues. [How many patients have you seen so far? Maybe its just a coincidence.]

'Fourteen.'

[FOURTEEN?!] He exclaimed. If this was a coincidence, then there are no coincidences in this world, ah!

Both her and Little Soul were quite confused. Curiosity made for a painful existence as they tried to speculate, yet nothing came to mind.

And so they let it go for the time being. If the truth wishes to reveal itself, then time is all that's needed.

Her footsteps resumed, as they carried her back home. Very slowly I might add, seeing as how her energy was draining fast.

Once back at 'Forbearing Bygone,' without a second thought, not even taking the time to bathe, she jumped her bed.

She didn't immediately fall asleep. Her mind was rolling as she couldn't help think about her patients.

Would she reveal herself to them? She noticed that all the patients she seen were ones which required long periods of treatment. Some of which she hadn't followed up on before her death as Mozen.

But how was she to even talk to them? What was she to say without sounding like a crazy person?

She hugged her pillow as this difficult problem lulled her into further contemplation.
