Chapter 13 - The Magic circle

He couldn't believe it, as Tobi ran straight to Horus, with the book still on his hands, in dire need of explanations.

"Sorry to be the one to break it to you, but it's the truth even though am not too sure of it." Horus paused for a second before replying.

"Like the Celestials are stronger physically, but our kinds are more apt towards Mana and magic. It's the nature of mosr things."

'Dammit' Tobi inwardly screamed.

"Does this mean that every native of the Originals might also be affected?" Was what he actually most worried about.

"Yes, young master. Be it the ordinary humans, Ancient Vampires, Holy humans, Lycanthrope and Witches, no one is an exception. Even I never expected to believe such kind of news.

"Back when the previous Pride Dracula was alive 60% of the winning side were the Celestials. I don't think things have changed much. If you aim to be strong enough you must attend the academy." Horus said.

"Great." Tobi felt dejected. He wasn't the kind of man to discriminate, he had began to despised humans regardless of their gender. What dispirited him was the idea of being once again on the losing side of life.

'Not strong enough, not powerful enough to protect my family. I even managed to be Dracula Pride, yet. Just Great.' He thought.

"There, there young master, don't overthink yourself." Horus said, "Don't be depressed. Life isn't certain. It's you being determine to change your fate that matters the most, not the celestials. One day you could even become as strong as the Moon Goddess."

"Oh, yeah. I almost forgot, about my second question. What's a Warlock?"

"Ohh that's refers to the magic community as a whole and it like a separate society, and just like any society it has a clear hierarchy. First, there are the normal people, who become Wizardry.

"Not Anyone is capable of using magic, some people though are able to but their ranges bȧrėly reaches two metres (2.2 yards) and are incapable of executing any complex task because their bloodlines restricts them. They are not considered normal people tho. Most of the them are refer to as bloodline holders.

"Then comes those like the witches and Holy humans who are more adept at complex magic, but compared to the natural brute like Ancient Vampires and Lycanthrope, the Witches and Holy humans are considered as gods in magic.

"They can use all the six elements, can perform complex tasks with magic, but the Ancient Vampires and Lycanthrope lack a proper magical education.

"They are also referred to as magico (males) or magica (female) and are the real grassroots of the primary magical community, which brought about the field of mages, magus and Warlock who can exibit magical talent and offspring with supernatural bloodlines.

Even if it's considered uncommon, an ancient vampire who becomes a Warlock magica most times are easily accepted by the witches or Holy humans magic academy and become a full-fledged sorcerer who can multitask, like the twelve wings Batman.

A Warlock magico can become a legend many ancient vampires yawn to be like, but it all depends on their innate talents. Though Warlock magico becoming a sorcerer is even becoming more uncommon, but far from rare but what could be said to be rare being outstanding among the Holy humans or witches magus.

"Terms like mage, witch, sorceress, warlock are all just different words that identify someone that managed to achieve extraordinary feats in a magic academy and complete the fews years course necessary to be recognized as a true member of the magic circle.

"At that point, one just has to follow their ambitions. Some choose to become the personal mages of a noble, that if you enjoy life at Court. Others choose to devote their whole life to study magic or create specific artifacts just like the Twelve Wings Batman.

"As long as a person doesn't do anything to contribute actively to the development of the Holy humans, Witches kingdoms or the Mage Association, you'll only remain just a mage, no matter how powerful you are or what you accomplish with your experiments.

"Secondly, no mage can be forced to share his/her spells or discoveries in the magic field. Not even the Sovereigns themselvesself could openly violate this rule.

"But again what a mage keep for his or herself has no worth for the society, hence it gives the person no merits except personal prowess.

"Only by sharing your knowledge your gifts or by using it to perform tasks from which the two kingdoms or Mage Association earn extraordinary benefits from, can a person be elevated to fame, status and can also be called Archmage.

"Archmages has extraordinary status far from what mages could have, it just like the dukes and marquises are for the nobles.

"And finally, there is the Magus and Warlocks. A Magus or Warlock is someone whose power is equal only to his outstanding merits toward the society and the knowledge he shared with the Mage Association.

"A Magus usually ensures to those who come after him a deeper understanding of magic, and the means to achieve better foundations than their predecessors just like Warlock.

"A Magus is a King to mages and a god to men. Just like a Warlock is a King to bloodline holders and a god to Wizardry, very rarely there has been more than a dozen. Whenever any country has more than two or more Magi or Warlock, it's considered to be in its golden age, everything could become possible."

"So it just means giving all I have to an Association that offers me nothing in return?" Tobi said.

"Yes, because basically, is just a fancy title that some old fogey forces on you after milking you dry. I don't know if by becoming a Magus is meant to make a person feel just sad or simply losing all their self-respect.." Horus chuckled finding such an act funny.
