Chapter 17 - Family

After, a brief talking with the trio, Vampire Lucian took Tobi and Horus for a walk before excusing himself as he went toward his other noblesse guests, even though the four circles of powers hold most of the political authorities they weren't the only powerful race.

The evening was long and boring enough to make Tobi wish to never attend such an event again, as he excused himself from the unending etiquette and pleasantries he got from numerous strangers.

'It amazing how similar the event was arranged in comparison to the vampires in earth movies. The only significant difference is the fact that there aren't any Ancient vampires drinking blood, or biting a human by the neck nor probably a funky dance with flashlights like in the blade movie.

'If not for their sanguine eyes and amiss attitudes they possess towards outsiders, I probably would have thought that everyone here is a normal human, and of course except vampire Ancestor Lucian.' He thought doing small talks with Horus beside him, who seemed a bit uninterested in talking to the four rulers who came previously.

Only when the music was about to start he managed to get away with the excuse of not interested in dancing. He hated dancing, yet he had long prepared for it with Horus since a few days back. To get what he wanted, Tobi had to use his status as Pride Dracula to bypass a few rules. At least apparently.

After, his talking with Vampire Ancestor Lucian who tried to establish the trio's worth as connections.

Tobi took a couple of drinks that weren't obviously blood and went together with Horus on a balcony, to get some fresh air. He seemed to be more annoyed than he was, if not even a bit sad. As they walked Tobi stared at the pale blue moons.

"Cheer up, Horus. This nightmare will not last long. Worst case scenario we'll be back home in two more hours." He said while staring.

"I'm sorry, Young Master." Tobi knew Horus enough to know that whatever he was hinting towards, he meant something was probably amiss.

"Sorry about what exactly?"

"I wanted to wait until you enrolled in the academy before telling you this, but I don't want you to forget the last memory you hold to your family." His voice was horse from being sad. Only after taking a deep breath, he looked at Tobi's figure, as he seemed to recall how pitiful innocent, and small he looked when he first met him, and how the small boy he knew had grown into a man almost as tall as he was.

"Okay, what the hell are you talking about?" Tobi's expression grew dark, the last thing he would want to hear was his family being put in harm's way, he wouldn't be able to forgive himself.

"Your training is over. In less than two days or more you will probably be on your way to enroll in Divine Moon academy. After that, you'll start the academy to study. It will last four years with no breaks nor leaves.

"Young master, I know the fair share of how it feels to lose your love ones, I can't tell you to forget them nor would I tell you to not grieve over them.

"Again it would not be fair on you pretending to hide the facts about your family, while their current situation is nothing good. I think it's best you take it slowly on yourself, but young master family are all dead."

After those words Tobi felt numbed and was speechless, feeling like his heart had just been ripped off from his ċhėst.

Crying and Pain was Tobi's oldest friend, yet he felt his eyes and heart had gone dried and numbed, a grotesque feeling he hated the most. He stood there dazed, as he looked a bit lifeless.

When he recalled the faces of his family, his heart felt like it was being ripped off over and over again. He didn't know how he should react, he felt empty because without them in his life it was so empty.

Tobi didn't regret even a moment spent with them, instead of practicing or training his strength. Those things were only of secondary importance to him.

He started seeking for strength not only because of his hunger for power, but most importantly because he didn't want the lives of his family to be at the mercy of a group of strangers. His family had made him fallen in love with them, they changed his point of view about life, showed him the importance a family withholds and strength had become a tool instead of a purpose to him.

The purpose which had been his sole reason for living and struggling had crumbled before him.

Tobi couldn't hold back the pain within his heart even if he couldn't cry it out, every memory he recalled of them was like torture to his heart, his will, and reason of existence.

"Why did you tell me all this Horus? What are all these sh*ts you are talking about? What about my mother, my father, and for crying out loud my sisters, Horus?"Tobi almost yelled out in rage.

"I want to see them, they can't just die like that," Tobi yelled again.

"Young.... master, please calm down." Horus stuttered as he sighed. This was the first time he saw Tobi this way, he could feel how his emotions were overwhelming him.

"Who....who is the b*stard responsible?" Tobi asked a single question with a muffled voice, he could feel his heart going from pain to anger, in a rotational circle.

"Young master, even if I were to tell you what would change?" Horus said, with a bit of hesitation and sadness.

Tobi gritted his teeth, knowing he was right. In any other moment, he would have been ranting, immediately becoming enraged with an intent to kill and Bloodlust to massacre whoever that had killed his family.

'I'm tired of feeling helpless. I need to become stronger, I need to change if not for myself at least for my family. Mother, father, sisters wherever you all are, I promise I wouldn't die until i can kill the b*stard who touched you all.

'And if there is any way I can bring a dead back to life, I will do it no matter the costs. I just hope, you all can be patient with me, until am strong enough to make a world good enough for you all to live in.' Thought to himself.

While Tobi, was lost in his own thoughts, second-guessing his own existence, he didn't notice the fact that Horus wasn't there anymore, nor the saddened face he had before he left.
