Dawn Of Twilight

Chapter 35 - Anomander The Valkyrie(side story)

Seeing the silvery starlight on the counter, the attendant gulped before responding quickly. For Tobi, who was obviously in a race against time he obviously needed to gain more abundant and specific details.

After the attendant gave Tobi a specific time, he headed toward the entrance of the Mercenary Guild. The streets of Umair_Ahmed City were very desolate as usual, probably having to do with the double edge with the sea trade and the ogres' tribes.

Seeing so many stores closed was kind of unusual to him, but he couldn't overthinking it.

'What do I do now? Wait at the inn?'He wondered and looked around, as he was walking toward the inn, he halted in his track.

A staggering figure had suddenly fallen over his shoulder, the person wore a worn-out long gown full of patches, with rough sleeveless tunics.

If anything about his eyesight were to go by, were the fact that they were perfectly enhanced. Right as he held the figure, he could see it was a young blindfolded girl in front of him, who seemed to be acting extremely weak and sluggish.

"Please forgive me. I am sorry, Mister!"

Tobi noticed the girl was strange, though right now her body was in top condition, she acted blind and was sweating buckets.

Though Tobi thought the girl's attitude was amiss and maybe was probably faking things up, he didn't want to interfere in whatever she was doing.

But the fact that she had suddenly fallen in front of him, caused him to feel distressed. Though she seemed blind, with the blindfold around her eyes region, to his unique eyesight this was a case otherwise.

Currently, the girl in front of him looks like a blinded beggar would, with an expression of tiredness and suffering.

"Hey, if you want I can call someone for help." He offered.

Tobi normally wouldn't like to get himself involve in such a matter, but there doesn't seem to be a way around it to easily get out off the mess, without being directly involved.

'Is this… a trap?' Tobi's eyes went past the young girl as he looked at a little girl next to her. She held onto a little box, with a vertical slit just big enough for a coin to pass through.

After noticing his eyes were on her, she shook the box such that the coins within made loud clinking sounds.

Tobi saw the little girl looked extremely sick and dirty.

Though he hadn't seen much in the world, but he was able to recognize they were probably acting just for money.

"Please help my big sister, she needs help. And has a rare contagious disease of blindness, and without her. Our family would starve." The Little girl, had a pleading look as she stared at him.

Tobi sighed.

Though he wanted to escape, but the passersby would probably, cause a commotion if he did. Some were already even looking, probably waiting for how he would react.

If he hadn't recognized what they were doing, he'd had felt a sense of pity at the beginning, but since they were lying he wouldn't offer much help.

"I apologize, but I don't have much… This is just…" Tobi knew, if he were to help her by bringing her into an inn he would be thought of as a pervert and immediately used as an excuse, to take a huge amount of money from him.

"The goddess taught us not to mind whatever we are being given because it was given out of pure goodness of the heart. That is why we would be grateful no matter what you give us… Thank you." The Little girl said.

Tobi frown inwardly, and in addition, an increasing number of people were slowly gathering, which was what he wanted to avoid at all cost.

He took out a gold coin, from a cheap spatial bag he bought at the side of his waist, but stopped after realizing something amiss.

He looked at the young girl, who was acting to be blind strangely. He then noticed that she was trying to slip her hand into his spatial bag secretly.

She drew her body closer to him, as she slipped her hands into the spatial bag. Tobi forcefully held her hand back, the moment he noticed what she was trying to do.

Eventually, noticing she had been caught the girl had a terrified expression, as she let out a soft grunt.

Tobi didn't look please as he stared at the girl, who couldn't stop shivering under his cold gaze. He thought for a moment whether he should just let her go or probably announced she was a thief.

Ultimately he paused, he wanted to see the girl's reaction.

But suddenly, he turned around after realizing something else. It was like he was being stared at by some wild beast.

Realizing something was off, he dodged to the left, evading a fast-moving streak of light.

The powerful projectile of light slammed into the area Tobi had stood at previously. The powerful impact caused numerous cracks in the surrounding, as well as smashing the limestone behind him to fragments.

Revealing the power behind, the launched the sneak attack.

After the sudden attack as if to answer his question, a loud feminine voice could be heard from afar.

"Such despicable behavior of bullying women is rather an insult. To I, the Great Valkyrie Anomander, the sage of women. Won't spare any shameless ba*yard!"

"Which idiot is it?"
