Dawn Of Twilight

Chapter 34 - Mercenary

If Pride Dracula was to be a core de facto member of any of the four circles of power that would be a disgrace to the Deadly Sins predecessor. Since they were naturally meant to be neutral, and could only let the general public gain knowledge of their existence, when of utmost necessity.

Meanwhile, Tobi had a tentative plan to make an all-inclusive plan about his family revival which was something that centered around going to the academy. Of all his plans he held for the future, this was the only one that he felt could be very sėnsɨtɨvė.

Though he didn't know if it was plausible to conduct research into reviving the dead in the World of Originals. However, that would require a great deal of processing power. Most of what he actually knew were from Horus and the vampire Ancestor Lucian.

And in a situation where he didn't know how far he could go with his plan, he has to spare time to run simulations in this area even still, he could only put his plans aside for now.

'Research on the world Originals, without being strong is definitely a huge taboo. I'm afraid I'll only be able to do something in that field after I become a Twilight or even a breaking Dawn Primal.'

Tobi held his chin, 'But if I'm able to get information on this, even if incomplete, my rate of analysis will be increased by a great deal… I'm sure there would be something relating to it in the academy, where many Warlocks participate in various researches am sure one or two might had the same thoughts as I do now…'

While Tobi thought to himself, he finally entered the mission hall in the Mercenary Guild.

Numerous large tables could be seen making the hall seemed a bit crowded. The various mercenaries were split into their own cliques. Some were telling tales about their mission and making merry, while others stood at the front of a large flat board gazing at the numerous piece of parchment posted at the center of the hall, discussing things amongst themselves occasionally.

The aroma of strong alcohol, which was coupled with that of roasted wild meat and bread, brought back that familiar feeling he had at the desert.

Pushing aside his emotionalism, Tobi paused for a second taking mental note about his surrounding.

"....High-grade mission: Ogres. Only mercenary groups that are gold-ranked and above may take on this mission."

This mission was posted on the top of the board, written in huge bold font words. The high rewards made many mercenaries passersby to turn their necks, but few actually dared to go forward.

"Oui. I heard that a bunch of ogres migrated towards one of the main paths to the big cities. They've already attacked numerous merchant caravans and civilians, it's no wonder that the rewards are so high this time."

With his enhanced senses, Tobi's ears could easily filter and eavesdrop on what the surrounding mercenaries were whispering amongst themselves, which made him had a better understanding regarding the mission.

'An ogre tribe? It likely they are planning on exterminating them.' Tobi thought to himself. The classification of mercenaries was rough but very simple. The lowest was copper, followed by silver and gold. Gold mercenaries were described as high-grade and possessed immense experience, and were usually powerful warriors.

Above gold-rank, was said to be Mithril and Platinum. However, in general, they would bȧrėly be spotted in such a small city like Umair_Ahmed city.

Guild with Milthril or Platinum-ranked warriors as its guild master were powerful to the extent of having numerous Gold-ranked troops. Only with this level of strength would be effective against an ogre tribe.

Tobi looked at the bottom of the mission board. There were many missions to clear ogres out here and there, from the lowest-ranked to the more powerful ogre shamans.

All that one was required to do was bring back specific remains as proof, and the difficulty was lower. Once in a while, a few mercenaries would go over to discuss before taking on the missions.

'A large-scale ogre tribe has more than 1000 ogres. The shamans will have bloodlines, with abilities similar to magic. On top of that, the ogres themselves are resistant to normal Mana…' Tobi thought to himself, taking note of their features.

'Even if I can handle this all by myself it will take some of time, that unless I take the long route. However, that will probably consume a lot of time of my time, and I will need to pass through a few dangerous regions too, and the danger isn't all that different from the ogre tribes. There may be even death wolf tribes there…'

'Seems like I will have to wait for some large-scaled mercenary groups to complete missions or join some caravan…' Tobi thought silently.

'On top of that, even if I try to avoid unnecessary dangerous regions, I would spend a long time preparing to travel to the north…' Tobi sighed.

After he pondered for some time, he went to the front guild desk counter which was close to him.

"Are there any missions that would probably go along the road to the big cities? The best would be those with large groups. At least it should be something safe."

Tobi was aware of the easiest way to get quick information, was not being a cheapskate. A silver coin appeared in his hand, before placing it on the counter.

"Seem like you have urgent matters in the big cities? That's no problem at all. A large caravan is going here soon, and they're recruiting people because of those wretched ogres."

Seeing the silvery starlight on the counter, the attendant gulped before responding quickly. For Tobi, who was obviously in a race against time he obviously needed to gain more abundant and specific details.

After the attendant gave Tobi a specific time, he headed toward the entrance of the Mercenary Guild.. The streets of Umair_Ahmed City were very desolate as usual, probably having to do with the double edge with the sea trade and the ogres' tribes.
