Dawn Of Twilight

Chapter 41 - The Valkyrie apology

Tobi watched all of this in bewilderment, as it seemed like the Dawn Light had made a huge reputation, such that it could immediately create an uproar amongst the large and low merchant group, the moment they appeared.

Be it the various mercenaries groups or merchants, all of them had delighted looks on their expressions, akin to having just found a safe haven that would guarantee all their safety.

'I guess this is another bunch of frogs in a well willing to place their lives in the hands of strangers.'

Tobi shrugged his shoulders as looked at them, 'Even if he is powerful he will probably be protecting the few medium-sized merchant groups who hired him, which would definitely be his first priority. Why would he divide his attention towards a bunch of people he recently just met? Even if they are all mercenaries, of the same city. Moreover, there are still the ogre's tribes…'

While some people were still daydreaming and lost in their fantasies, the mixed bag of mercenaries had soon set off.

'How boring…' Tobi thought to himself, as he looked at himself as he finished wearing his armor. Currently, he was now dressed like a half-baked knight, armored in a moderately new leather robe. At his waist was a longsword made of silver steel, which the handle was made with a rubber rope that would allow him to easily grab and unsheath it smoothly at any moment.

The large caravan group's begun their journey as they moved very slowly. Apart from the few problems they faced, the major ones were the leadership problems, food, water, and camping at night which were beginning to be a huge issue for them. Even proper military legions would find it hard to manage such a group well. forgetting the group. Sometimes they didn't even make it past a few kilometers a day.

Tobi had already expected this so he bȧrėly thought over it, if it weren't for the fact that he needed to pass through the human continents to go to Divine Moon academy, he was sure neither he nor Horus would have bother themselves over this journey.

While they move, since he couldn't do anything about the pace of the journey he silently stayed with his group while at ease, as he examines his surrounding. With so many people present, if there was a siege he would only be used as cannon fodder to bait the ogres out if they ended up meeting.

He had already made up his mind. Once he passed the danger zones of the ogre's tribes, he would immediately leave this large group and proceed on his own. As for the matter regarding the commission and trust, would he really care for them?

With his daily routine for now as a warrior, he had nothing doing for now except cultivating. Concerning the deal he had made with the merchant group's that was for one silver, and that only allowed him on one of the carriages. Besides his requisite patrolling routines every day, the only things he did were resting, eating, cultivating, and examining the route of their environment.

'My mana core is already within the threshold to advance to the next rank which is proportionate to the time I've spent so far cultivating for years. With the reduced effect of accumulating enough Mana, I can't advance so easily anymore. I can only try to wait until my body mȧturės enough like those magical beasts…'

For Tobi, as Horus had said training of his body was a process of perfecting his own genes, as a hybrid. Once they all broke past a certain limit, they would give rise to breaking the bottleneck.

Tobi sat down as he used his mana technique, which gathers the various mana elements as he slowly analysis them, this was an important work since he couldn't use the mana on his mana core.

'Slow as ever…'

Tobi thought to himself, as he could do nothing about it. Though in terms of spell rank 1 to 3 spells he was growing proficient in casting them, which he was quite powerful. Being a hybrid his speed of casting a spell already went past even most Magica/magico of the Holy humans(saints) and Witches.

But he couldn't do much without a decrease when it came to rank 4 spells.

'It would be unnoticeable if not for Horus mentioning about the spells… Perhaps I should really check out the spell and techniques when I finally reach the academy…'

"I'm sorry!" The voice said.

Tobi didn't need to turn, since he could already recognize the person the moment she stepped out, with his hybrid senses his hearing and smell, could easily cover up a town when he was just rank 1 and with much more effort its could cover up an entire city, which was why he could already tell that the person was the valkyrie Anomander.

He slowly opened his blue eyes, and stared at her even in the darkness of the carriage, he could perfectly make sense of her face akin to when it was still daytime, which he also noticed the flushed red expression on her face.

"I accept your apology. Ain't you done now?" Tobi shrugged his shoulders, akin to have lost interest in speaking any further.

"Why...?"

Anomander was bewildered, which was emphasizing on her expression, but this time in a bit of annoyance, "I'm here trying to apologize to you, yet here you are, acting so ċȯċky!

"Besides… that, R-B and the others are…"
