Dawn Of Twilight

Chapter 49 - 'Sus'

Only after they had returned to their own carriage, did the Valkyrie Anomander realized she had caused quite the stir from the palpable gazes of fear, awe, and bewilderment of the others.

In Tobi's eyes, the little heroine Valkyrie Anomander usually would have been on cloud nine that if she had a tail, it would have been wagging.

However, the Valkyrie seemed more preoccupied with trying to look for a place to wash herself properly, since she had sparse of the ogre's blood on her. She went alone into the noblewomen's carriage, and a faint sound of retching could be heard. Tobi found this quite funny, he reckoned that she still needed some time to adapt.

Meanwhile, R-B the Satyr once again had picked up some scraps and collected the magical arrows the valkyrie had thrown away. He could bȧrėly contain his excitement as he kept them away carefully akin to some treasured item.

Also after discovering that valkyrie Anomander had abandoned the ogre's ears and the grey tooth, afraid of being stained or affected by it. The satyr had almost caused a huge ruckus and stomped his feet angrily, bȧrėly holding the urge to kick Tobi right in the crotch. He even scolded Tobi not to try such ever again loudly.

The level of his greed made Tobi wonder if the Satyr in front of him, was the exact same one in the movie Hercules or not.

After the battle with the ogres, the entire cargo and its group had resumed their journey. However, even though the ogres had caused quite the stir and damages to cargoes and the various mercenaries groups, they had slowly calmed down to recover the losses and were not afraid as they were before.

To the mercenaries' eyes, the battle with the ogres had been a trial which they had successfully won, which made them also realized that ogres were not as frightening as they thought and were bȧrėly just powerful mindless beasts.

Even though the ogres were quite strong, they cannot make complex and critical thoughts, which made them strong meat on a chopping, no matter how strong the meat was it would still get chopped, this was what made them quite vulnerable and even led to the death of their chief.

As time went on they quickly dismissed all the fearful thoughts as hypotheses of overthinking, one of the advantages of being a mercenary and a battle was the fact that apart from gaining combat experience they also quickly adapt to different changes. When the time came, everyone was back to their previous state of mind. Even the noblewomen were more at ease compared to before.

'Really…' Tobi slowly closed his eyes, as he lets his hybrid senses spread together with his mental energy, firstly he checked his spiritual world as he frowned slightly, after his little conversation with the 'Monarch' a few months ago, there had bȧrėly been any response from its and it seemed to have disappeared seemingly to nowhere, no matter how much he checks the reflection on the azure pool was the same he wouldn't see anything nor notice anything amiss, and with the passage of time Tobi slowly grew accustomed and ignored it, but now of a sudden, he had a slight trace of suspicion as his instincts would give me a weird feeling.

'Why do I feel something off? Is it from the 'Monarch'? Or something else about those bunch of ogres? It seemed like they were trying to use a tactic?'

'A plan against the cargoes? Weird even if they had the mental capacity, how did they come up with something a bit complex? Perhaps it was just a mere coincidence… Not likely since I have a weird type of feeling initiated from my hybrid instincts, from what Horus had said the world Originals and all its species have a furthering bloodline that might make the unintelligent race gain the ability to perform simple or complex thoughts like the two-headed ogres or three-headed ogres and the ogre's shamans who can manipulate elemental Mana to some certain degrees perhaps have this sort of intelligence…'

'If it is true, then it likely the lives of everyone will be in critical danger soon.' Tobi thought to himself silently.

As the journey went on, every event slowly proceeded according to Tob's instincts. There would be several ogres who would cause a siege on the road once in a while, firstly it started from one until it slowly increased in numbers to over five to a dozen at a time.

Every time they attack, they would be unable to cause much damages to the large groups, except every time they fail they would quickly run away, which most times the mercenaries would gain credits from the corpses of the ogres.

In the beginning, most of the mercenaries would be frightened by the large numbers of the ogres, but slowly grew used to it. While some would watch them flee and make gest of the ogres, as they witness these scenes with laughter that resounded in the wagons.

With the continuous circle of victories, everyone slowly reviews the ogres as a form of any threats. In Tobi's eyes besides the Dawn Light captain Urara and the sorcerer by his side everyone seemed too careless about the activities of the ogres, and it was likely every other member seemed to overestimate the threats in front of them.

"There are two more days till we out of this region," Tobi said as he stared at the ceiling of the moving wagon.

"Haha... you read my mind Flob, this is going to be the easiest mission I have ever done in my life.."The Satyr commented on the side with a bit of excitement coated to his voice.
