Dawn Of Twilight

Chapter 73 - Arrival

After Christopher made breakfast for everyone, which appeared unusually surprising to the family. Christy announced that their elder brother would be arriving later in the day and that there were minor arrangements that should be made.

Most especially with the children's room which Christopher would take care of, and the foodstuff and preparations.

.....

Finally, in the evening time. Christopher arrived home in a horse carriage, a crowd had immediately formed outside from the creaky alarm sound it made.

Everyone was utterly confused, ecstatic and nervous, at the same time. About suddenly having an elder brother, his identity was quite intriguing.

Immediately, Christopher and Christy ushered a young unfamiliar figure sitting within the wooden carriage.

Bella's body kept shivering, it could be from excitement, it could be from her illness acting up. Although she was shivering, her face was quite energetic, she was naturally happy she was going to have an elder brother.

Everyone stares with anticipation, at the new and unfamiliar figure slowly walking out. This made the figure staggered, as he felt nauseous and nervous at everyone staring at him.

Tobi had trouble describing his first impression of the boy. It was a strange sense of familiarity.

He looked to be between ten to eleven years old, his height was approximately 54.2 inches(138.2cm). He was wearing a patched-up brown shirt, with colored short nickers that were too dark to tell it former color it was made of.

His knees were dotted with little scars, from woods and grass cuts. He had bushy black hair, he appeared somewhat unrefined with his childish and naive smile, compared to Christopher's handsome but rough looks.

Everyone exchanged glances with the young boy in front of them.

Bell looked at him in amazement, he looked taller than her? He was probably taller than her with a head and half. If they were closer, she would have to tilt her head up and stretch her ankles to look up at him.

"Everyone, meet your beloved older brother. John. And John welcome to your new home and family."

The words 'beloved older brother' sounded a bit exaggerated to Tobi. At this moment Christy and Christopher, took their new son John into their house since Bella's illness might start acting up at any moment.

That night everyone, had a difficult time sleeping or eating properly because they were too excited except Tobi who ravaged every single meal. Even though he participated in the eventful night, his major concern was ravaging the meal in front of him.

And finally, Christy asks the girls to show their brother his new room. Soon everyone slept late in the middle of the night.

This together with the strange new house, the unfamiliar surrounding, the foreign new siblings, and mother.

Everything pointed to one conclusion, but John was refusing to accept this new reality of his. Ever since he arrived here, his father had been calling that strange woman his wife and those kids his children.

If it was not for his mother telling him that he should be wary of his father's wife and that she was the one who had snatched his father and her husband. He wouldn't have believed this new 'mother' of his was a witch woman.

The more John tried to rationalize it, the more his thought sank deeply into it, and the more he feels how unjust his mother suffering outside was treated badly.

How could she take another woman's husband? And still, be comfortable?

Suddenly realizing this, his hatred for his father's wife and their children grew increasingly.

John had this cold smirk on his face in contrast to the childish and naive expression, he had displayed earlier.

"Christy.." He muttered with a chilly deep hatred in his voice that could frighten a child, as though Christy was of a mortal enemy.

All this had lasted only but a second, As he reassumes his childish expression and slowly sinks himself within the dream world.

If he examined his capabilities properly, it would unsurprisingly play a huge role, be it him bringing his suffering mother into the house, or getting rid of Christy and her children.

That why he had to play his hidden cards well and safely. And as close to his heart, without revealing his trump card.

Before the following day, John had already set out his priorities.

Having been accepted into the family, John could now portray himself as the ideal son to the family. Soon he proved to be more than cable of handling multi-house chores by himself.

Relieving Christy and the girls, hands full of works. During the following days be it ȧssisting Christy or Christopher while cooking or carpentering.

Or Bell with washing and sweeping. No matter what he was giving he never complained.

With him acting as the perfect son and older brother, he was now the sole center of attention. He would always create a schedule for fairy tale stories, describing how a valiant hero would save the princess, and how he fought in bravery.

Sometimes, he be would talk about his painful past to the family and how difficult surviving was in his former environment, while everyone felt pity he would be so engrossed telling his perfect tales, that he would take several mouthfuls of Tobi's creamy soup.

No one took notice of this, except Tobi yet all he could manage to do was cry out loud, while inwardly cursing him. Christy who didn't know this would forcefully put him to sleep.

'Ba*tard! How am I supposed to enjoy my life with him constantly breathing on my neck? Not only does the ba*tard look like my previous life older brother, but he's also good at acting the perfect son, even spending time with my sisters and eating my food.' Tobi thought.

'Mom and dad would praise him for his so-called hardworking self and smart a*s. Now the whole house is filled with his praises, no one shuts up about John saving the family a lot of stress.

'No one even gives a damn, about him drinking my soup and eating my food. God, why did you create such a ba*stard? Why did you not strangle him with his umbilical cord to death?'

Oblivious of Tobi's feelings and curses, John followed his perfect routine of how to starve a baby to death, with this new development. Tobi was having a hard coping without enough food to sustain his comprehension progress.

'Oh dammit, this is even getting worse than I expected, the evil man version of my previous life elder brother. So far, my opportunities have been brought down to only two.

'Option one, wait for that ba*tard to starve me to death while playing a fool. Malnourishment is most definitely a death sentence for a baby, even before I grow old enough.

'Option two, wait until I am tall enough to grab a magical potion, put an end to my undeveloped nightmare, and take another spin at baby reincarnation shop hoping for a better outcome if there was. I think I will go with option number two for the last consort.'

During the following months, John was now mostly left at home to take care of the family issues when Christy and Christopher aren't at home or were busy.

More than once he would shout at Bell for doing something he felt was wrong, but it never lasts long in other not to blow his cover he would try correcting her.

On the contrary, on Tobi's side, he was already tired of living. He could not move, he could do nothing but watch as John ravaged his meal in front of him.

He was not used to being so helpless and taunted to this extreme. John would always have a sly smile drinking his soup or eating his food.

Tobi was trying so hard not to choke him to death, and to adjust to his new reality, without overthinking how absurd his situation was.

After a few months of long practice, he felt confident enough to say a few babble words.

He was always careful, never allowing his brother John to see him. No matter how common speaking was, Tobi doubted that his older brother might mistakenly kill in the process of him freaking out.

He was very much afraid of being killed by a ba*tard, or even worse manipulating his family to abandon him.

Another month passed, with Bell already taking note of Tobi appearing worn out for a baby. This event was meaningful for two reasons, the first was she being reprimanded by John every time she did something that was not to his taste. When she tried doing it to his taste, Christy would shun her that it was wrong and John would take the credit for correcting her.

The second reason was adding too much salt to Bella's food, and being forced to stop looking over her younger sister's health.

Due to her congenital health, Bella was on a strict diet most especially on her intake of salt. Even that required quite a few tries to find the right amount since too much would cause even more damage than too little.

She started noticing how Bella was looking paler and would cough more often than usual even to the point of coughing out blood.

Luckily, Christopher and Christy still monitor the house and check on them once in a while.
