Dawn Of Twilight

Chapter 98 - Blood urge 32

Lots of children had already begun to panic, as they looked at Elijah waiting for his response. Hoping he would figure out a safe haven for them.

"Relax, everyone. The reason the alliance was formed was for that purpose."

Elijah stated loudly, trying to ease their fears.

"We've already discussed this with the knights' lords, furthermore will take turns to protect the carriages. Of course, this is with the caveat that we are bȧrėly ȧssisting the knight's lords.

"Also, everyone doesn't have to worry. For those who don't know how to make use of their natural inborn ability, you don't have to worry. The knight's lords, already made preparation for our arsenal so everyone has the chance of choosing a weapon of their choices." Elijah said as he stated the plans.

After Elijah's statement, his words seemed to have eased their fears a bit, as the twilight children of the alliance all began to have little conversations amongst themselves. After a major discussion, most of them were in favor of this plan.

"Okay, we all agree."

Striking the iron while it was hot, Elijah started handing out missions according to the instructions given to him by the black knights.

••••••••

"Originally I had planned on forcing them to fight, but this seemed to be much better."

A black steel knight said as he held up a silver cup, he walked towards a black knight, who was slowly polishing his long rough edge whip.

"Is it true that every time a rank 2 knight corp ventures deep within the desert, there are casualties?" The black knight asked with a bit of disbelief, and respect towards the black knight.

"Of course, the best-case scenario is that only one or two will die, but there have been times where at least five to ten perished!"

The black steel knight polishing his whip, shrugged his shoulders undisturbed.

"Otherwise, why else would I be sent to accompany you bunch. For a rank 3 knight troop, there will be some form of profit and reward to be earned!" The black steel knight held his whip, as he laughed confidently.

As long as one were to become a rank 3 knight troop, then the returns they earn would be great. Even if a rank 2 knight corp, were to die in the great desert of death.

It wasn't a big loss to the higher-ups, they could be replaced.

•••••••

With regards to what awaits them in the deep desert, the twilight children were rather ignorant to it. After venturing deep on the desert, the black steel knight had increased their nights' patrols.

As for the twilight children banded together under an alliance, there had still been casualties.

However, the marks on the carriages seemed to be increasing, the very moment they arrived they suffered a siege. Although there haven't been any major casualties, the pack of vicious wolves had nearly destroyed a carriage.

From that moment, even the alliance had to tread cautiously, while the camping had been prohibited to avoid siege from night wolves again.

With the guise of being a vice-captain, Tobi was allowed to help the black knights ride the carriage. However, to Tobi, it was rather an opportunity to enjoy the mouthful of the fresh air outside.

Although being on the outside of the carriage may seem to be more dangerous, with a black steel knight right next to him, it was actually much safer.

As for the Carriage riding skill, Tobi had seen Christy riding a carriage a couple of times, and with the bits and pieces of lessons given to him by the black steel knight, it was sufficient for him.

"It's getting dark, knights corp gather around!"

A voice ordered out from the front, causing the carriage to be filled with the rustling of footsteps. Not only was traveling at night dangerous, but it meant the horses had little or no time to rest.

Which could render them stranded in the middle of a dangerous desert, and cause much bigger trouble than the ones they were currently dealing with.

"Your carriage riding skill is quite good." The black knight stare at Tobi, as he said softly.

"Thank you." Tobi nodded.

With his usual routine, Tobi exited the front of the carriage. As he entered the carriage, the first thing he noticed was the toxic smell that inundated his nostril, after he opened the door.

Tobi's eyebrows creased together, but seeing the stupefied expression on their faces he could only sigh to himself, to him this was more or less a blessing in disguise.

Even though his blood urge made him constantly losing his sense of rationality sometimes, the toxic smell had given him the opportunity to fully isolate his five senses completely, acting as a tin layer of defense against his blood urge.

Meanwhile, Tobi Mana's core grew to a point of hitting a bottleneck, apparently, due to the fact of trying to restrain himself. He would use Mana Accumulator each time, even still Tobi's greatest enemy had become hunger.

Not the slightest appetite that can be fixed by material food or hankering after a busy morning. It was the kind of hunger that never goes away, always lurking, even right after a meal.

Even though Tobi was not starving in a normal sense, the urge for blood was something that he had never experienced before.

Among all the problems in this life, even the time John ate half of his meal. His hunger wasn't that exaggerated, but now he felt his hunger increasing by the day, he was so hungry that even when he ate his every meal to the last bite, he would feel like whatever he ate was a drop of water in an ocean.

Ever since the first casualties, none of the twilight children were happy, instead, the atmosphere was bleak and mournful.
