Exp And Other Drugs

Chapter 13 - Meanwhile... Sha Na

"Are you listening?" Sha Na jumped awake before looking to her mentor Zul Sha.. He was once a powerful shaman in his youth and helped the tribe for many years but time is cruel.. Having grown incredibly old the shaman now clings to every breath as if they would be his last. So making him waste it was a grave sin in his book!

"Did you fall asleep again.." The blood vessel in his eyes seemed ready to burst. "No teacher I swear this time I had fallen into a trance!" Sha Na ducked away to avoid a possible 'Lying smite' but no such bolt appeared..

"You were truly entranced this time?" Disbelief crossed the old lizards face before he bombarded her with questions. "Describe the Domain, elemental presence, beings, and words!"

"Water spirits!" ... Zul Sha waited patiently as Sha Na looked at him "and?" Sha Na looked towards her teacher and blinked twice. "They didn't say anything to me, they just sang a song." "They praised you!?!?" Zul Sha shouted as he grasped Sha Na's hand. Sha Na pulled away and shook her head vigorously "How would I know? I couldn't understand them..." Sha Na was beginning to worry that the old lizard was going to say she's special like Intalru..

As much as she respects and cares for her 'brother' The utter fear that he unknowingly instilled upon her the day she 'died' will haunt her forever..

The smooth skin came out of nowhere! if brother hadn't shouted I would be dead! Oh no!! his attention is on brother.. I should try and sneak a bite.. "Sister he's poisoned!.." Chh! No point in eating tainted meat.. 'Zu langsam!!' Puchi! Pain! Such pain!... Darkness

"TrUe ReSuRrEcTiOn" "Brothers voice sounds strange.." Sha Na opened her eyes to see a stranger leaning over her.. It was a metallic Draconian, his scales reflecting light in a beautiful almost magical way. "Who are.." "Du teufel!! Schlagen!" As Sha Na wanted to ask who her savior was, the now one armed smooth skin Interrupted her and a bright light began glowing above her.

The strange Draconian quickly picked Sha Na up and she felt the world shift as her vision blurred.. Suddenly they were standing at the edge of the forest near the river. The shiny lizard dropped her abruptly. "Hey!" Before she could finish complaining Fsh! The stranger was gone.

..... "Brother! realizing she didn't see her brother since she woke up the Young Sha Na ran Straight back to the danger. Thoom!! Tkang! "Was bist du?! Sterb einfach schon!!" She could hear the sound of intense battle and the smooth skin shouting in it's gutteral tongue before she could actually see the combatants.

After breaking into the edge of the clearing Sha Na gasped. Now instead of a strangely colored metallic Draconian there was a winged Draconian with red and black scales crossing his body in an almost hypnotic banding pattern.

The two battled intensely and throughout the fight the Draconians scales would change in unique ways. Sometimes it would even show metallic and chromatic colors at the same time!!! Even though the smooth skin held an obvious advantage in strength and speed, his opponent's wild instincts, varied elements, and unpredictable attacks proved more than enough to balance the field.

Blue, red, black, white, green, copper, silver, gold, the Draconian changed color and element sporadically with each moment. Lightning would arc from his claws before fire burst from his mouth only to be followed by ice and poisonous gasses, the Draconian seemed to have an unlimited supply of Mana as he fought viciously against his opponent.

Slowly the Draconian's scales began changing once more as his wings shrank. Gold and ruby colored scales danced across his flesh like fire and Sha Na could feel the temperature rising quickly. Feeling a sense of dread she began running away as fast as she could.

The two warriors stared at each other warily for a moment before the smooth skin let loose one last battle cry before charging the now radiant Draconian..

Sha Na had made it just past the wood line when a bright light flashed behind her and a searing wave of heat washed her back. Suddenly all she could hear was the roar of a raging fire as a massive vortex of flames reached high into the sky.

Sha Na watched the fire warily at first but the pillar of flame continued burning for several minutes and seemed as if it would never die down. As Sha Na began thinking of ways to get back to the cave suddenly the fire dispersed and everything became quiet once more..

Curious as to what happened to her savior she investigated the forest. Destruction.. was the only word that could describe what happened. Burnt and shattered trees littered the crater filled piece of forest, and in the center of it all was the 'stranger' that she now knew was her brother his head deep inside the smooth skin's c.h.e.s.t before pulling out and eating it's heart.

Her brother looked her way with cold emotionless eyes before passing out..

After telling her brother a white lie saying she knew nothing about what happened after she died the two made it to their cave of hatching.

"Hello bright eyes, I am happy to see you return so soon and so healthy!" Brood keeper embraced me tightly before continuing.. "It looks like you didn't heed my words when I told you to let the bad egg die off on its own..."

..Oh no.. Please don't kill me with her!! I watch Intalru from the corner of my eye and realize he isn't even fazed by her comment.. "You should greet your elders with respect lazy one.." As he passes by us Yail Voct slapped him with her tail. Release me!!! I don't want to join you in suicide!

After breaking away from brood keepers grasp I heard Intalru say something quite strange... "If a smooth skin was older than you would you listen to them?" and then he ran away..

"I never thought of that" Yail Voct said under her breath. "Brood keeper I have a question!" "What is it little one?" "Can You change the color of your scales?" "... hahaha little one that's a myth but how did you think something like that up? being green is wonderful little one especially as bright as you are.. take good care of them and rub yourself with plenty of oil as you grow up."

Yail Voct seems to misunderstand my question.. "It's no myth Brood keeper Intalru.. the one you just slapped changed colors!" ... "What.. what did you just say? I told you never eat the blue mushrooms!! are you ok? stomach cramps? Drink water now!!!"

.... ANNOYING!! before Sha Na could correct her, Yail Voct ran after Intalru to give him a piece of her mind..

After the green dragon took Intalru under his wing Yail Voct dragged Sha Na and the rest of her clutch mates across the forest making them fight and hunt until two weeks later they finally reached level 10.

"Ok I have one final lesson to impart on you before the journey.." Yail Voct spoke aloud as she woke Sha Na and her clutch mates early in the cave. "you are the future of our tribe, the only thing I will ever ask of any of you will be to survive.. grow stronger and stronger, build up the strength of our tribe for soon.. we will be called to war and I don't wish to hear of any casualties amongst those I have raised.. If you die before me you best hide, for I will find you when I die and kick the Sh*t out of you for going before me!!... now travel safely children and grow stronger, maybe I'll raise your children one day as well."

After Yail Voct gave her.. 'Rousing' speech she led the group of young Draconians to the mouth of the cave and gave them directions to make it to the village before going back inside to rest.

"how do you think Intalru is doing?" Lilan Ka asked Sha Na as the two of them led the group to their homelands. "he is most likely working hard to hardly work.." Lilan Ka nodded his head before continuing. "You hunted with him do you really think he will be our savior?"

... Sha Na contemplated everything she knew of her 'Brother' before answering. "He will do anything for his family.. but I believe he needs a savior more than we do." That was all she was willing to speak on the subject and the rest of their journey was rather uneventful.

After reaching the tribe old Zul greeted them and introduced the 'whelps' to their trainers.. most of their siblings turned out to be warriors aside from Sha Na, Lilan Ka, and the lone rogue whose name was Nil Kul..

As the weeks went by Sha Na showed great promise as a shaman and between lessons she would stroll about the village to check on her siblings. Lilan Ka almost driven his teacher to madness with his constant questioning but his inquisitive mind made him an ideal mage.

The one time she went to check on Nil Kul she found her teacher shouting into the tree line "Ok you proved your point! come out here so we can move on to the next lesson!" psh! Nil Kul appeared out of thin air behind her teacher with a toothy grin before poking her back. "Got you!" the moment her claw touched her teachers back the slightly older draconian used her tail to trip her. "The lesson was feigning ignorance to fool your opponent.. do better next time.."

"If you tell me you had another vision I will drop lightning on you until your scales turn black.." Sha Na opened her eyes to see her mentor standing before her while tapping one clawed toe in impatience. "I miss my brother.." Sha Na said while looking down sheepishly.

Zul tilted his head slightly in confusion. "Then go see him, I'm sure the young mage wouldn't mind a break?" "The brother I am talking about is not in the village." Realization dawned upon the old lizards face before a smile spread across. "Then let's practice divination I'm certain the spirits will not mind."
