Fate's Reversal: The Divines Return

Chapter 94 - Hidden Actions

...

*BEEP* *FWOOSH* *BEEP *BEEP*

In the real world, on a remote island. Inside a huge building surrounded by lush, verdant foliage; a team of 4 engineers remained in an expansive futuristic tech room located under that building. This was the underground laboratory of <World's Destiny>'s creation module. The headquarters of the combined WEPA and HARDIC.

Surrounding them was futuristic technology with shifting colors. Moreover, there were multiple holographic screens with lines and lines of codes shifting at rapid speeds. However, if one looked closely, their eyes followed at an even faster pace.

This collection of engineers was partly their own entity. They were known as TACT (Technological Advancement Covert Team). And they were the special subdivision brought about by the unity of WEPA and HARDIC. Another party, who was behind the scenes brought into the midst. They were responsible for the fabrication of HARDIC and WEPA's combined theories. With their minds that existed beyond the genius level—they outperformed supercomputers.

"Albert, how is the code reading? Have you found the abnormality in the code yet." inquired a male in a white lab coat.

His appearance seemed to be in the 20s but that wasn't the case. Pushing up his bifocals, this male named Charles was the leader of the team. Moreover, he possessed the highest IQ of 2,392. The speed at which his brain processed was faster than even the Guild Leaders of the Eight Insurmountable Titans.

He was a Divine Prospect as well. However, he possessed limited fighting capabilities as a drawback caused by his brain. Be that as it may, he still couldn't be dealt with by anyone below his level. He possessed a special ability.

"Please hold. I will be with you momentarily. There is a remaining period of 13.479 seconds until I successfully determine the error producing script." answered Albert as his eyes remained stoic.

"Very well, I shall exhibit patience."

Quietly standing behind Albert, Charles tapped his left index and middle finger with his thumb repeatedly in rhythm. This was a quirk of his. His brain caused him to have HOCD (Hyper-Obsessive Compulsive Disorder). However, his situation was even more extreme than in regular cases.

Exactly 13.479 seconds later his finger stopped tapping as he instantly spoke.

"Your requested period of activity has elapsed. Has the task been completely absolved?"

"Indeed, I have ascertained the source of the error. However, the source of the error is us. That seems highly improbable. Shall I run another series of examinations?"

"Unneeded. I have a hypothesis about what happened with this error. Leave it, we shall send the data up to the higher-ups of WEPA and HARDIC."

"Noted, now back to the issue at hand. We have baselines to accomplish in order to gain a period of languid operations," responded Albert.

"Correct, we do. Commence the task."

....

Higher in the building, inside a luxurious conference room—multiple sat in reclining chairs of the finest material.

"An error in the code of <World's Destiny > originated from us? Hmm..."

A man looking to be in his late 40s looked around the room. His features were mellow with a slightly rounded jawline and brown eyes. However, he seemed to be a person of high caliber. His name was Donald Park—one of the higher-ups of WEPA. .

He was currently examining the contents of the reports TACT had just delivered. He was slightly taken aback by the fact that the error originated from within this building. Although he found it hard to believe, it meant one of the higher up tampered with the system.

They were the only staff with ranking high enough to access the mainframe of <World's Destiny>. As such, his eyes danced around the room, inspecting everyone's body language as he spoke; he monitored the room for any signs of the culprit. However, much to his dismay there was no change upon the countenances of the present faces.

'Are they too skilled at hiding their intention or...is the culprit really not one of the present people.'

"Ahem, does anyone have any clue about there being an error generated from this building?"

Following Donald's interrogative questioning, the room remained eerily silent. All that remained was multiple curious eyes fixated on him. Frowning, Donald looked back down at the report vested upon the screen of his holowatch.

Shifting his gaze back between the surrounding members, he subtly intensified his sense. Yet, he was unable to pick up on any subtle changes in heartbeat, breathing, or respiration. Moreover, his senses were at the "Godly Influence" level. Hence, there could only be one conclusion.

'These people aren't the ones who caused the error. No...wait! It absolutely couldn't be. I hope he didn't do what I think he did!'

Standing up from his seat, Donald stared at the ceiling. Averting his gaze from the ceiling, he glanced at the other high-level members of WEPA.

"It seems some matters have come up, please excuse me," uttered Donald.

The heads in the room nodded as they chatted amongst themselves mostly pertaining to the future direction of <World's Destiny>.

As he left the conference room, Donald tapped rapidly on the display screen of his holowatch. Focused, his hands moved like lightning. He was attempting to discern the information of the error. He needed to know exactly what was injected into the game or if something even more drastic happened.

Presented by a notification, Donald Park pinned his access code as he was infinitesimally close to ascertaining the origin of the error. However, to his consternation, he wasn't allowed access.

[Sorry, you are not granted access to this information. Your S rank clearance level is insufficient to acquire this classified information.]

'There's only 1 person with clearance above mine...It's true! But what exactly did he do?'

Unable to handle such roiling curiosity, Donald Park stormed to the executive elevator which had access to the top floor. Only one thing resided on the top floor of this building—the office of the Chairman. Ironically, the Chairman of both HARDIC and WEPA was one and the same.

However, for a brief moment, his rush halted. Another snippet of information received caused him to tremble in shock.

[8 entities unquantifiable by the system have entered the midst. The actions they are performing are unbalanced within the game. Every entity has rewarded the Legendary title "Legendary Outliers" by the system to match their prowess.]

"FUCKK!!! They are making their move already?!" roared Donald.

The 8 entities which had joined the game were indeed the Eight Insurmountable Titans. Because they were of the Divine Prospect level and high within the realm, the system was unable to quantify their abilities nor was it able to forcefully store their information. Unlike the other players, they didn't participate in the memory scan.

Continuing his charge, Donald continuously smashed the elevator buŧŧon in a hurry. With the haste entrance of those 8 fellows, nothing good could happen. Their plans had been offset. What anomalies caused such things?

Kaiden. Eon had told him he was an anomaly in this timeline. Kaiden's actions were unaccounted for in the present. Now, because of his actions, the timeline he remembered and also couldn't remember was surely but subtly altering. Motions that didn't happen then were unfolding right before their very eyes.

"The software to limit them isn't completed yet! Fuck fuċk fuċk, that means they'll exist in the early days of the game untethered!"

Finally, with a ding, the elevator opened as Donald rushed inside. In the same fashion, he impatiently pressed the top floor as well as the "Close Door" buŧŧon.

Charging from the elevator door, Donald rushed towards the office doors located before him. Knocking briskly, an aged voice was heard on the other side.

Entering, Donald exclaimed almost instantly "Chairman!! Chairman…!"

"Calm down, take a breather. What is it that has you so riled up?"

If one was to look at the man who sat at the imperious desk before Donald they would be shocked! It was Xavier Graham! No, correction—this was Xavier Graham's older "twin" brother—Nathaniel Graham.

"The system has a sequence of faulty code! Not to mention, it needs someone of your clearance level to access the origin! Chairman Graham...what did you to the system?!" inquired Donald.

"Me? I don't understand what you are insinuating my young protege." chuckled Nathaniel.

"T-The system! It has an error. Foreign code was injected into the mainframe. Not once, or twice… but THREE times. This is no longer a coincidence but a willful action. If I can't access it with the clearance you bestowed me...then only you can take actions."

"Heh, correct. I have done some things to the game. However, nothing drastic. An interesting young fellow with immense potential entered the game. He achieved some notable feats within but a few hours; he has piqued my interest."

"Not for long Chairman! I'm sure you saw, but those eight have already joined the game. SIGMA isn't completed. Not to mention, you know how they operate. What if they gain information about that fellow? He's being drawn into something he's wholly unaware of."

'Completed? Who said SIGMA was ever incomplete.' inwardly chuckled Nathaniel.

Rubbing his chin, Nathaniel gazed at Donald before picking his words. "Hm? I don't recall being a simple pushover. I will personally like to see how they attempt to deal with that young fellow. What I gave him could be interpreted as my inheritance. In him, I see what we need. Although he is rough around the edges, he is not stupid. I have monitored his movements in the game. His moves all have the subtle grace of future implication. He doesn't move for the present."

"Chairman are you saying…"

Donald's expression changed to one of complete shock. The Chairman had indeed directly interfered with the game, but what did he do?!
