Fate's Reversal: The Divines Return

Chapter 97 - Despair Is a River One Drowns In (1 of 6)

Kicking off Angurvadal, Kaiden reached a height of over 80 meters. Grabbing the handle of the Garkin Blade, Kaiden once again swung and flipped in the air. However, this time before he landed, he stretched his legs. Bending into the drop, his knees absorbed the impact predominantly instead of the blade.

With that being said, the blade still caused a small crack in the canyon wall as it shifted slightly. Moving with haste, Kaiden executed another jump as he stretched out a hand. At the last moment, he hand grasped the edge of the cliff. Swaying momentarily, Kaiden kicked the wall as he rose off the cliff's edge.

*Tap*

Landing lightly, Kaiden inspected his surroundings. It was a normal, hollow cave. It wasn't too deep at all, only 5 meters in length. However, the treasure ċhėst caused his eyes to illuminate. It was always a pŀėȧsurė to open the ċhėst as they usually held surprises even if unusable.

Approaching the Treasure Chest, Kaiden inspected it.

[Special Gold Treasure Chest]

Required Time: 48 seconds.

Arching his eyebrows, Kaiden was slightly confused. To his knowledge to was no item ranking named Special Gold. Moreover, the Gold Treasure Chest had the possibility to reward up to Special Rank items.

Walking forward, Kaiden placed his hand on the Gold Treasure Chest as the timer began counting down. However, as it counted down the aura of the cave also changed. It was weird, a slight vortex was forming within the cave above the Treasure Chest. Furthermore, the vortex was absorbing something.

It wasn't Mana nor Energy! It was absorbing both. The cave was becoming devoid of any presence of these two resources. However, as the treasure Chest did so, the bar gradually rose; along with it so did a feeling of familiarity.

'That's odd. It feels oddly familiar. But why is that so?' thought Kaiden as his expression was soaked in bewilderment.

The feeling of the coffin was familiar on more than one occasion. In fact, he was currently relishing in the feeling. The familiarity came from the way Kriishna's body devoured the Wind, Metal, Lighting, and Earth energies as well as how Kairo's body consumed all that energy present within the Forgotten Anomaly Realm. Something special resided in that Chest to cause this phenomenon!

As a result, Kaiden's eyes gleamed with fervor. It was exciting to think of the possibilities resting in the contents of that Treasure Chest. Moreover, there was the fact he was the first to discover this blessing. He already chalked this up to some type of fortuitous encounter.

It wasn't long before 48 seconds elapsed and the ċhėst opened with a clank. As it opened, a potent aura of elements surged from within the ċhėst. As he leaned over the side of the ċhėst, he inspected the contents of the ċhėst. Aside from the potent leaking aura, there was a sizable gem-like object with multiple colors, a tattered scroll, a token of some sort, and a weird looking cracked jewel.

Picking up the scroll, Kaiden smiled.

[Lord of Elements Class Change Scroll] (Special Item)

Establish your sovereignty over the Elements. Developing your resonance, reach the pinnacle of the elements. A class created by a sorcerer who sought the extremes of Elemental balance. He sought to accomplish the unity of the eight elements into a unique entity. Accepting this class opens the path of magical perfection. However, this isn't a path for the weak-minded; one's mind must reach the state of Omni Thinking.

Requirements: Mage class. Tier 2 of lower Elementalist.

'Another hidden class! This is perfect for Ezekiel.' .

Moving along Kaiden inspected the rainbow-colored object. It reminded him of the brooch around his neck. However, it was no gem at all!

[Elemental Sky Condor Egg] (Special Rank)

Inside rests one of the last of its kind. It's a bird who was born with an innate affinity with all Elements. The sorcerer who developed the Lord of Elements pathway nurtured this breed.

Hatch Date: 34 days.

Requirement: Soul Linked to the user who starts his journey to become a Lord of Elements.

'Is this a pet? First I've heard of it. Hm, it's linked to the class. Ah, I guess this goes to Zeek as well.'

This was the supposed 1st pet of the server! This meant that not only were you allowed Combat Aides there were also Pets. The only thing left to determine was how rare they were or was an egg the only way to acquire a pet.

[Sorcerer Warlock's Treasury Token] (Special Item)

Should you ever find the Sorcerer Warlock's hidden treasury, this token along with the identification of being a Lord of Elements will open the gates allowing entrance.

'These items...they aren't even usable! They all lead to some future crap. Oi…'

Turning his head, Kaiden vested hope within the last item. But as he looked at it he lost hope; it was cracked. What good news could come from a cracked item?

[Key Fragment of the Ancient Elemental Gate] (???)

One of five pieces to the Ancient Elemental Gate's power source. Collect the other fragments of the orb. Once the orb is complete it will point you in the direction of the Ancient Elemental Gate. The things one could be seeking may very well be hidden within the gate.

Scratching his head, Kaiden sighed. He got his hopes up believing he could achieve some type of item which would provide immediate benefits. Every item which came out of this ċhėst required him to go on a journey. Not to mention, the area located around the Crescent Wake Town wasn't exactly abundant.

Moreover, he had yet to step into a city yet. As this rested upon his mind, Kaiden squinted.

'That's right. We have been stuck inside a Town. When can we approach a City? There's only so many opportunities present. Or at least that we have found so far.

The Sanctoria World was truly expansive. With that being said, even the area of a basic town like Crescent Wake took up a sizable amount of space by Earth's standard. A town could be compared to the size of a city in the real world.

Exhaling, Kaiden stored the items within his Spatial Ring. Although, he complained he was incomparably happy. If he could enter these spaces in a timely fashion, it was only a matter of time until his guild grew into an unstoppable giant.

Now that the ċhėst was open, this cave located on the cliff was saturated with both Mana and Energies. As such Kaiden took the opportunity to cultivate. Sitting down in the typical lotus position Kaiden closed his eyes.

It was the most relaxed his mind had been for a while. Executing the Art of the 16 Quintessential Harmonic Cycles, the Energy within his surroundings vibrated. Forming a mini vortex slightly weaker than the one the ċhėst had created, tendrils of Energy flowed through Kaiden's nostrils.

In a repeated cycle, Kaiden absorbed and expelled Energy. As he did so, the saturation of the atmosphere began to gradually thin. In return, his Inner Energy was increasing in quantity but rather it was condensing slightly. In fact, minuscules spots of his Energy were beginning to coagulate.

The current condition of his Energy Center looked more like a rain cloud going through the process of creating raindrops.

[System: 0.5% of your Inner Energy has liquified. Upon 100% condensation, Stage 4 will automatically be achieved.]

Of course, as Kaiden was in a state of cultivation, this notification went unnoticed. Instead, he experienced the notification physically through Inner Vision. With the heightening of both his Concentration and Profession, he became more adept at this skill.

He witnessed a silvery opaque cloud of Energy within his Energy Center. Interspersed within were tiny droplets of which were turning a slightly more vibrant color. Its ŀuster was changing as it shifted. Kaiden was unaware of what this color meant. But it was the basic Energy with no attribute.

It was a reason he could absorb any and all types of Energy—his body possessed no attribute! Being a warrior, his initial body wasn't with an affinity. If he had been a mage that would be a different story. An Elementalist was given the choice branch into how many Elements they wanted. Each choice came with its drawbacks.

Ding!Ding!Ding!Ding!Ding!Ding!Ding!Ding!Ding!

System notifications rang in his ear nonstop. In fact, it reached such a frequency that it became an impossibility to ignore. Opening his eyes, Kaiden's gaze turned into a glare. As of late, he couldn't relax his mind to enter a suitable cultivation state; yet now that he did, he was almost immediately interrupted.

However, as he looked at his system interface his expression turned quizzical. Tilting his head slightly, Kaiden's expression contorted a tinge. He couldn't understand what was going on.

"What is up with the density of system notifications?"

However, unknown to Kaiden it had been over 4 hours since he had left the shop.
