“Why don’t you surrender?”

Minenvar Library Lounge.

Leon quietly rolled his eyes while 11 non-discriminatory reading members surrounded him.

They were not equipped with blades but rather blunt weapons and had a lot of energy.

Leon furrowed his brow at the tangle of factors, including the confidence one gain from a sense of superiority, the satisfaction one receives from doing the right thing, and other factors.

“Why did you do this?”

There are 11 opponents.

On the other hand, Leon is alone.

Because of the barrier, reinforcements can’t come right away, nor do they want to.

Nevertheless, Leon Hilfenberg’s voice remained firm.

He simply asked a question in his poor mood.

“We’re doing the right thing.”

“That’s right.”

“Yeah, we resist the tyranny that judges knowledge as taboo, and we share all knowledge without discrimination. The liberation and dissemination of knowledge is a noble duty that we must fulfill.”

“I understand your justification.”

Even though he said he understood, Leon’s voice grew cold. Then, as the encirclement gradually narrowed, he asked again without moving.

“So, do you mean it doesn’t matter if other people get hurt for your justification?”

“Sacrifice is necessary for the justification. As long as the academy’s bachelor does our demands well, it will be over without much damage.”

In other words, if a problem arises, it is the responsibility of the academy’s bachelor who didn’t comply with the request.

Leon slowly closed his eyes as he witnessed the typical and perfect transfer of responsibilities.

“…You’re the same kind of guy who always says the same thing.”

They claim that the sacrifice is necessary for the sake of generations. Leon took a deep breath at those words that sounded as if it was the truth of the world.

Behind tightly closed eyelids, all kinds of abstract ideas start to seep out.

Leon immediately stopped all of his random thoughts by lifting his eyelids. His bloodier eyes stared at the enemy without moving.

“As long as it requires sacrifice, nothing can be right. No one wants to be sacrificed.”

A strong smell of blood floats around Leon. However, there is no blood flowing anywhere in the lounge.

It’s a reverb that doesn’t exist at the moment.

The past, which should have disappeared like a ghost, simply could not leave the present. Nevertheless, Leon frowned at the clear reverberation.

‘These guys…’

What Leon’s eyes look at is an afterimage.

One day when he was 13, his parents, as well as all the villagers he lived in, were massacred. Leon was the only survivor who had just happened to be out of town at the time of the attack.

Since then, Leon has been chasing the criminal who killed his parents and the people of his hometown. But, then, are those who occupy the library connected with his enemies?

After considering the possibility for a moment, Leon shook his head inwardly.

‘No. It’s too careless.’

Those who attacked Leon’s hometown were extremely good.

So far, there has been no evidence of who the culprit was. The chances of being in each other’s league were infinitely low. Nevertheless, Leon couldn’t erase his displeasure.

Those words that force someone to make a sacrifice in the name of a justification touch an area of his anger that shouldn’t be touched.

“I know, but it doesn’t make any difference. It doesn’t change the fact that we do the right thing.”

“That’s the wrong way of thinking.”

“The conversation will always have two sides. I don’t need to hear more.”

The black robes people exchanged glances.

Then the encirclement was completely narrowed.

Leon was attacked from 11 different directions at the same time.

In front of it, Leon took a deep breath.

The reverberation once bloomed doesn’t disappear.

Instead, a haze of blue light moved through Leon’s sword.

“That…!?”

The person in the black robe who was making a  speech stopped.

Before he could quickly shout back to step back, the blue haze left an afterimage.

The sword’s trace is what the afterimage shows.

There were five lines that intertwined around Leon.

The 11 people in black robes who were running at the same time fell to the ground.

“How, 1st year… on the subject….”

Maybe he hesitated because of the deep blue sword that was wrapped around Leon’s sword?

The person in the black robe grabbed his shoulders and let out a low groan.

He didn’t get cut.

Even when they fell to the ground, the black robes didn’t bleed.

He put on the sword and used the back of it to hit the enemy. In a way, it is a technique that deserves to be called a waste of talent.

However, wasting talent is only possible if there is a talent to be wasted.

Even in the upper grades, the ability to handle swordsmanship freely is limited.

Obviously, this is not an ability that a first-year student could wield casually.

“….”

In fact, Leon Hilfenberg didn’t care about this fact at all.

He just swung his sword at the man in the black robe to knock them up.

With a dull sound, the last black robe of the lounge collapsed.

There is no sign of anyone’s presence.

Leon quietly put his sword down and polished it.

“I feel the same way, because there are two sides to every argument.”

He’s here now because he’s been running toward conflict and absurdity for a long time.

With reverberation, Leon Hilfenberg hurried upstairs.
