Knock, knock.

The sound was softly spread by the luxurious wooden door.

After knocking, Leon turned the doorknob after waiting a moment and getting permission.

The room beyond the door is the student council room.

The student council room at Estero Academy was extremely spacious, which fit with the school’s reputation.

The pure white student council room, which is wider than most lecture rooms, was decorated with gold accents everywhere, and high-quality leather sofas and round tabletops were laid out leisurely.

“Sit down.”

The student council secretary, Robert Hunter, raised his glasses and pointed to the other side of the sofa he was sitting on.

Leon sat quietly in front of him.

Shepherd Francis raised his head.

“Are you Leon Hilfenberg?”

Robert patted Francis on the head for a moment as their eyes met.

“Yes. That’s right.”

“I’m sorry for calling you even though the situation hasn’t calmed down.”

“No. Has the situation been resolved safely?”

He is more concerned about the resolution of the situation than himself.

Robert stared intently at Leon through his glasses.

“All the non-discriminatory reading groups that occupied the library were arrested. All students held hostage are safe.”

Haa—.

Only then did Leon let out a sigh.

Robert closed his eyes for a moment as he relaxed his shoulders.

“The student council president and vice president are currently absent. I’m in charge of this situation. So, thank you. You have contributed greatly to resolving this situation.”

“Of course, I just did what I had to do.”

“Of course.”

It’s not something that can be said for sure.

But there is no reason to dig into this part.

By fiddling with his glasses, Robert changed the subject.

“More than that, I will ask you directly. Were you hiding your skills?”

“—Is this a question that I must answer?”

“It’s not like that. I can’t force you to answer. However, I’m asking because it is the student council’s job to manage and prevent risks within the bachelor.”

There was a moment of silence.

Robert and Leon stared at each other in silence.

As Francis laid his ears down in that atmosphere, Leon nodded his head with a small sigh.

“It seems you have a reason to judge that I’m hiding something.”

“Yeah, all members of the Non-Discrimination Reading Club are in their second or third year, and their skills aren’t bad. If you want to beat 18 of these kinds of opponents on your own, it makes sense to have the skills to do so. In particular, it would be impossible to deal with the president, third-year Louis, with the skills of a first-year.”

“…Louis?”

Leon tilted his head at the name he had never heard of.

Robert took a file that was spread out on the table and gave it to Leon.

“You may not know the name. It’s the green-haired guy that was in the lobby.”

The contents of the file were Louis Lepersha’s academic records.

Even if he checked the photo on the top of the document, it was a face that wasn’t in Leon’s memory.

It wasn’t him who defeated Louis Lepersha.

Leon was trying to say so, but suddenly one possibility crossed his mind.

Leon was the first to move into the lobby where the hostages were being held.

But before he headed to the lounge, he released one person.

Theo Agrit.

Although he is not very big in physique, he has a strong body and a cold impression, but he actually looks sloppy, as if he is out of focus, but sometimes he has silent eyes that seem to penetrate something.

Furthermore, if he hides his ability like Leon, wouldn’t it be possible to knock down the third year alone?

No, no other possibility comes to mind.

Seeing that Robert pinpoints Leon as the opponent for defeating Louis, none of the hostages will claim that he did.

There’s really no one who knocked down the hostages.

Or someone knocked Louis out but purposefully hid information about what happened.

There are two possibilities; the only person who falls into this category is Theo Agrit.

“Do you remember?”

When asked by Robert, Leon thought for a moment.

He can’t remember, but he didn’t shake his head in advance.

It is unclear why Theo Agrit would hide his ability.

However, he can understand the fact that he tried to hide it.

‘There must be some kind of situation.’

Even if he didn’t know the situation, he didn’t want to tell him hastily.

Leon Hilfenberg quietly nodded his head.

“Haa, it’s already time….”

By the time I finally returned to the reading room, it was already night.

There was nothing but darkness and white moonlight outside the window.

Most of the students have long since left the Minenbar library, but— thanks to this, it’s like renting out the reading room.

“If it wasn’t for the assignment, I would have slept in the dormitory by now.”

What can I do?

If I sleep in the dorm, I’ll probably be expelled tomorrow.

Still, it’s not that bad.

Leon has been called to the student council, but I haven’t heard anything about myself.

As a victim of the Minenbar library occupation, I gave some testimony—but it was clear that no one knew I had defeated Louis.

With this, I’ll walk out to the back of the stage, and Leon will work hard on the main story with the student council.

A non-discriminatory reading party is a bizarre event that seems ridiculous—.

Well, I can’t live like that.

After overcoming the crisis of failing neatly, I should be able to enjoy peaceful and comfortable school life.

To do that, the first task is—.

“Were you here?”

Now I heard a familiar voice.

I didn’t have to turn my head to see the five thick books piled next to me.

I lowered the quill I was holding and turned my head to see Leon staring at me.

“…Didn’t you get called to the student council?”

“I came back.”

“But why did you come back to the library?”

“Because I promised to help you.”

“…What?”

What is he talking about?

He came back because he said he had a promise to me?

After beating the nondiscriminatory reading group by himself and going through all kinds of investigations because he was the hero in solving the case, he found me in the library because of a promise he made?

…..

No, the original Leon Hilfenberg is this kind of guy.

He always keeps his promises no matter what, and he doesn’t hesitate to take risks when it comes to helping others.

In short, he is a character who has no choice but to suffer a lot of damage to the point where it’s easy to say that he’s become a good person.

Obviously, it must be hard to live in a tough reality.

He can have this personality because he is the main character in the story.

But I don’t hate people like that.

Because it looks good to go after your goal even if it means sacrificing yourself.

“What about chronic diseases?”

“…Ah, Ah, that was the set-up.”

I forgot it for a while, but Leon seems to keep remembering it.

Leon tilted his head when I  accidentally let my true feelings out of my mouth due to his sudden worries.

“Set-up?”

“Actually, I don’t have any chronic diseases. It was an act to make you move.”

“But the blood….”

“Thanks to it, the inside of my cheek hurts.”

This is real.

It still feels hurt when I touch it.

“I’m sorry for deceiving you.”

“No, I’m glad if there’s no problem.”

Look at this, it’s not enough to say that he’s a good person.

Leon gave a faint smile and then turned around.

“The five books are enough for the data. The rest will be meaningless if you don’t do it, then I’ll go now.”

“Yeah, thank you.”

Instead of asking for more help, it’s better just to do the assignment.

When I waved my hand at Leon like that, he added indirectly.

“You’re the one who knocked Louis Lepersha down, right?”

This is an expected question.

Because it’s an enemy that Leon didn’t beat.

Instead of acting lightly, I tilted my head slightly.

“…Who is that?”

Before denying it at all, I answered as if I had never heard that name before.

However, Leon only smiled faintly.

“See you tomorrow.”

Leon left the reading room this time with a small wave of his hand.

I don’t know if my lies worked or not— well since my opponent is Leon, either way will be fine.

“More than that, when are you doing all this….”

The books that Leon left behind are pretty thick.

I’m worried about whether I can finish it today, but—.

I have to do something.

Instead of sighing, I grabbed a quilt pen and opened the book at the top first.

Meanwhile, somewhere in the Minenbar Library.

Choco wandered around in an unknown space where the dust had piled up. Finally, Choco, who followed its owner, got out of the scene and hid in the library.

It was a possible escape because it was a raccoon that could freely go through passages humans couldn’t enter.

That was an hour and 24 minutes ago.

Choco, who had explored the library to its heart’s content, stopped abruptly. Then it scratched the stone floor with a small hand.

Tuk, Tuk—.

Choco’s scratches on the stone floor caused it to fall apart little by little.

Choco stuck its head through the hole not long after it appeared.

There were numerous bookshelves under the hole.

The bookshelves are all lined up in a straight line.

However, unlike the bookshelves on the other floors, it had a rather gloomy and inorganic atmosphere.

As it should be, this place is a place for the forbidden books.

It is a place where forbidden books designated by the Kingdom of Tekat are strictly sealed.

But, as if that wasn’t important, Choco struggled and put its body in the hole.

The center of gravity is tilted forward. The result, of course, was a fall caused by gravity.

The height from the ceiling to the floor is not less than 3 meters.

It was quite high for the little raccoon, but Choco landed stably on a somersault.

Just looking at the natural movements, it was comparable to a cat.

Choco walked lightly across the forbidden book.

The appearance of chains hanging on all bookshelves was quite unusual.

Choco, looking around at the scenery, soon stopped in front of a corner bookcase.

Choco, who stood on two legs, stretched out its front feet. However, no matter how far it stretched out, the front foot could not even reach the first partition.

Whoa, Choco took a deep breath and jumped in place.

Then it grabs the bookshelf and climbs hard.

Choco, who barely reached the second partition from the top, puffed its nose and pulled out the book sealed in the corner.

It was a book covered in brown leather.

It’s not very thick, but a chain is wrapped around it, and there’s even a lock on it.

Gulp.

At that moment, without any warning, the door to the forbidden book opened.

Choco quickly climbed onto the bookshelf and fell flat.

“Hoam… I think I heard something… Is it just my feeling?…”

With a long yawn, a guard carried a lantern into the forbidden book area.

The lights of the lantern shone all over the place.

However, it doesn’t reach the top of the bookshelf properly.

Choco moved quietly while tightly holding the forbidden book.

There was no sound from the footsteps towards the door that the guard had left open.

The exit is close.

But all of a sudden, Choco started to fall down the bookshelf because gravity was pulling him down.

It was exactly the result of a hole-in-one in the space between the bookshelves that was too big.

If it continues like this, it will fall—!

Then, Choco will get caught—!

To make matters worse, the security guard’s lantern lit the gap in the bookshelf.

But there was nothing there except for a lot of dust.

Choco was dangling from the end of the bookcase with its tail wrapped around it.

Choco, who climbed up the bookshelf again, breathed a sigh of relief.

Then Choco crossed the bookshelf and got down in front of the doorway.

“What’s the hole in the ceiling—”

Choco could hear the guards discovering the hole the Choco had punched from behind.

Even so, Choco carefully embraced the forbidden book and left the forbidden book area.
