Chapter 61: Curse

"Levvy what are you doing?" A shrill cry of an elderly woman comes from behind Liberaine.

Liberaine tilt her head, she is holding a book and now looking at her nervous master, "..Master? I am only reading." She said with a smile.

The elderly woman quickly grab the book in Liberaine's hand, which makes the latter pout, "Where did you get it?"

Liberaine is not answering, she looked at her master feeling wronged.

"Levvy don't act like a child, you are already 14 years old." Without chanting the book in her hand disappear and look furiously at Liberaine. "Tell me! Who gave you that book?"

Liberaine anxiously look at her master. Her master really spoiled her and this is the first time she saw her master get angry like this. She timidly answer, "The witch of the west..." The witch of the west always give her different things and her master is okay with it. 'Why is master angry now?'

Suddenly a wand appear in the hand of her master. Swirling it to the left after that a brown vine emerged in the ground, charging at Liberaine and strangling her from her waist. Liberaine is now scared, she looked at her master like she is a stranger. She struggle to answer, "Mas.. ter.."

"Did you already read it?" Her master is looking at her looking angry but at the same time her eyes is showing hope. 'Please don't.'

"Mas...ter" After hearing the struggling voice of her only apprentice, she felt a stab on her heart. The vine stop strangling her but it didn't let go Liberaine.

"Levvy.. did you read it?" Her master looked at her sincerely. Liberaine felt wronged she doesn't know what did she do wrong. She can only answer her master and nodded honestly.

A wand from her master fall. "Did.. you already try to practice it?"  All of a sudden the vine tighten which cause Liberaine to shake her head quickly.

"Levvy.." Her master voice is soft and gentle it makes Liberaine's eyes moisten. "Listen to me.. forget what you read okay.." Her master didn't get an answer from the child and she left without looking back. 'That witch.. so all this time she is looking for a chance to stole my apprentice. Why give that devil thing to my apprentice.'

"Boss Levvy!!" Griffin is calling Liberaine with his loud voice, all of the people surrounding them look at him suspiciously.

The officer raised his eyebrow and gazed at Liberaine who is standing frozen and looking at the two villain without blinking.  The officer glanced left Liberaine and looked weirdly at Griffin, "Boss? Do you know each other?"

Alvis smack the head of his brother for being an idiot and look at the officer while scratching his head, "Is it bad to call a cute girl boss?"

The officer is disgusted, clicked his tongue and left them. He walked to the little child who is staring at nothing now because elder Galvin and Anna already left. "Little lady are you okay?"

Liberaine still didn't answer. The officer looked at Liberaine with pity, he thinks that maybe the little girl is under trauma when she saw elder Galvin.

Lilibeth is already gone, Lefina call her friend in the church to help Lilibeth in her injuries. The church have a healer but it can only heal outer injuries. Lilibeth still need a doctor or physician to check if there are internal damage.

Liberaine didn't even noticed that Lilibeth is gone and she is still in daze.

The officer didn't left her, c.a.r.e.s.sing her hair gently he said, "It's okay, it's okay! Everything will be fi-"

"Kyaaahh!! Elder Galvin and young miss Anna just collapse."

All of them are in chaos, and soon Liberaine collapsed too with her mouth full of blood.

It's been four days since her master left Liberaine, her master didn't gone back to their hut that is isolated from the eyes of a human. All her food is herbs from the forest which is her master garden. It makes Liberaine lonely,  she really miss her master at the same time is scared if her master abandoned her because of what just happened.

"What did I do wrong? I just.. accepted that book.. it looks cool that's why I read it.. what is wrong with that book?" She mumbled.

"That book contradicts my teaching Levvy."

Liberaine widen her eyes, she turn around to see the person in the door and welcome her, her blonde hair waves and she looks refreshing like a teenage child. "Master.. I am sorry..."

Her master looked at her for a minute and sighed, she walked to the window and gazed at the sun for a second. She is thinking that Liberaine is still a child but she needs an explanation because of what happened.

"Levvy what do you think about that book when you read it?" She gestured her hands to a chair so Liberaine will sit down.

Her master sighed,'That's not a pet Levvy!! That witch even change some details so this child will like the book.. it just shows the devil inside her wants this kid talent', "Levvy that book is used for hurting people." She straightforward said.

Liberaine just tilt her head, "Isn't the elements can hurt humans too!?"

".. It is but.. The nature and elements are not devil, it depends on the witch if she will used this for good or evil." Her master sat too then looked at her seriously, "That book is purely evil, all it can ever do is to hurt. All the witch that study and practiced that book forget themselves, they forget the feelings little by little... please... forget all of what you just read in that book... all the witch that practiced it... all of them didn't have a happy ending."

"The humans are always scared of unknown.. they always panicked when something unexplainable is happening in them. We witches lived in nature but... some witches strive to learn that book and use it for evil. Forgetting their identity and become one of a devil. They dare hurt a human without reason and they do not feel guilty, only satisfaction and that satisfaction is like a drugs to them, they.. are addicted in that feeling.. a feeling of hurting someone.. do you want to become like that?" She remember all the innocent witches that had been burn just because they are a witch. Humans condemned them and in their eyes they are all evil.

"The witch of the.. west.. is dead.." Her master lowered her head. "I go to her house after she gave that book to you. She killed herself by hanging. There's a letter in her table and I found out that she is fighting something devil inside her. Everyday is a hell for her. She don't want that evil to overcome her sense and hurt people in mistakes. She learned that book because she have no aptitude in the elements but because she wanted to protect her family she learned it thinking that ..she can fight it..  but still.." her master become silent. And Liberaine just listened to her, her eyes moisten too, her master emotion affects her.

After a moment of silent. Her master look straight to her. "That's not a chant or spell... that's a curse."
