10. He was Not Dead

Translator: Ann Yi

Frost caressed the little fox’s soft fur and found the reason for last night’s nightmares, but he still felt that something was off.

His used his fingertip to touch his lips, and he felt that the lips were a little numb. ‘Is it because I have just woken up, or because… it really happened?’

‘What is the boundary between dreams and reality? Could dreams affect reality?’

“YAAGGAGHHGHHHHHHAHHHH! (Bro, wasn’t I awesome last night?)” Larry did not expect Frost’s spiritual power to be so nourishing. He originally thought that he would need to go deeper with Dr. Frost or he would need to suck in Frost’s spiritual power for a few more times before he was able to turn to human form.

He didn’t expect Dr. Frost’s spiritual power to be so powerful. When Larry inhaled it, he felt that a hot current filled his limbs and bones, and then he turned into a human in a minute. It seemed quite easy for a fairy to transform into a human being!

With that in mind, Larry felt that it wouldn’t be too difficult for him to transform again!

But Larry was still too naïve. Sucking in people’s spiritual power to transform into human was only a temporary expedient for fairies. Just like books and newspapers can shelter a man from light rain temporarily, they still cannot prevent him from getting wet in a heavy rain. He still has to seek for umbrellas and raincoats.

With doubts in his mind, Frost prepared a day’s food for the two little guys and went to work. As for Noah who had left trash everywhere in the house, it was better for him not to come again.

“Meow? Meow? (How did it go? Did you succeed?)” Murk, who had been waiting at the door all night, was not surprised to see Larry being carried out by Dr. Frost.

“Ring-ding-ding-ding! (I’ll show you later!)” ‘I’m going to turn into a human being and scare you to death!’

Frost forced apart the little fox’s legs and looked at the wounds. “You’re recovering. Don’t move too much and you should be fully recovered in two days.” Frost thought for a moment and put Murk in the cage. As for Larry, he used to be a wild fox, so he might not adapt to a cage. In order to prevent the two of them from fighting, Murk should be caged.

Murk: Meow-meow? (Isn’t this discrimination?)

“Meow-meow-meow. (Help me open the cage. I don’t see any difference in Dr. Frost this morning. Why is he doing this?” Murk was curious. Cats were naturally curious. Last night, he had used all his willpower to stop himself from peeping.

Larry didn’t answer the question, but with a flash of white light, a naked young boy from appeared in front of Murk.

Larry felt that there should be a BGM for his transformation. He wanted a hot-blooded one, or the one from Sailor Moon might do too. The music started the moment he turned into a human, and it would have an excellent effect.

This must be the so-called “protagonist law”: all those who showed up with their own BGM must be the leading characters of the series.

However, he didn’t feel that Murk was surprised at his transformation.

“Meow-meow? (Why do you have balls after you transform into a human?)” This was what concerned Murk the most when he saw Larry in human form. If Larry’s balls were real when he was a human, did it mean Larry’s balls could reproduce themselves whenever Larry took the human form?

Larry lowered his head and saw that he did have balls. And he touched them ecstatically. If he could regain his balls when he took the human form, then he would never change back to his fox form again!

However, when he touched his balls, Larry felt like crying.

He felt his balls were like cheap rubber toy balls. He felt great when he touched the surface, but they were empty inside.

Larry pinched them again. Nope, they were not real at all.

Larry cried but no tears came out. He slowly crouched down. Murk was still looking at him and he suddenly became nervous when he saw the look on Larry’s face.

“Meow? (Where are your balls?)”

Larry was heartbroken. The most painful thing in the world was to be given hope and be deprived of hope right after that. Larry felt so desperate that he felt like something was rubbing salt into his wound.

Larry didn’t want to explain with words. He grabbed one of Murk’s paws and made him touch them.

Murk was frightened by what Larry just did. His sharp claws came out from his paw and he struggled to retreat. The way he screamed and protested made him look like a middle-aged cat who had sworn to protect his chastity.

“Meow!!! (You pervert! What are you doing?! I’m just a pitiful male cat!!)”

Larry let go of Murk’s paw when he saw Murk’s claws. Who knew if he would need a vaccine if he was scratched by a cat when he was in human form? It wouldn’t be nice if the answer was yes.

“Gosh, no matter how much I desire sex, I won’t do anything to a black cat like you, okay? Who do you think you are? A handsome guy?”

‘It’s true that you won’t do anything to cats, but it doesn’t make you any less perverted when, as a fox, you wanted a human to sleep with you!’

“Meow-meow-meow. (Then why did you grab my paw?)” Murk felt that he was wronged. He had always been a chaste cat and he was almost contaminated by Larry. He just felt so wronged!

The mention of it broke Larry’s heart. “I just wanted you to touch my balls…”

“Meow! (And you claim that you’re not a pervert!)”

“Just hear me out! My balls are empty! There’s nothing inside!” Although Larry found it embarrassing to say that, he was so angry that he said it out loud in one breath. And his words even echoed in the spacious living room.

Murk had been anticipant but he was frustrated by Larry’s roar. He retracted his claws and patted Larry with his paw, comforting him silently.

“It’s alright. I won’t be like this forever. As long as I go on with my cultivation and get a new Essence Orb, I can still have my balls back!” It seemed that the skill Junior June taught him wasn’t the ultimate cure.

No more talking about his balls. The first thing Larry wanted to do when he turned into a human was to open his Facebook and Twitter and see what happened to him.

The Black Guard and the White Guard said that he still had many years to live. In novels, when a soul left his original body, there could be three reasons: another soul occupied his original body, or the original body turned into vegetative state, or the man simply died and the soul had nowhere to settle. What if his body were just taken away by another soul, or he was just in a vegetative state?

Larry was very satisfied with his original body. He had spent a large amount of the money he had earned over the years on maintaining his body.

Unlike now, he had become a disabled person. Larry glanced down at himself in disdain.

Fortunately, Frost had always lived alone, and there was nothing important in his computer, so he didn’t set a password.

Larry easily logged into his Facebook and Twitter and searched his name.

“How shocking! The secret hidden among the Internet celebrities. A famous Internet celebrity died because of it!”

“99.99% of people don’t know this way of death and he made it!”

“How shocking! A famous social media influencer actually said such words to a nurse in the hospital!”

Larry: …

To some extent, these news titles weren’t wrong.

Rebirth after death was indeed an unknown secret, apart from the person who experienced it first-hand. And normally no one died when they still had many years to live. As for the last title, he had often chatted with the nurses after he was hospitalized.

Larry skipped the news with those exaggerated headlines. He decided to have a look at how his company explained his death.

“Larry, an artiste of our company, has died due to myocardial necrosis caused by acute ischemia and hypoxia at 15:00 on April 1st. His body will be cremated at City Slaka Crematorium on April 3rd, and a memorial service will be held.”

The light of the screen shone brightly on Larry’s face. He was prepared for his death, but he still couldn’t accept that his body had burnt to ash.

He clicked the mouse with his index finger blankly. There were rows of candles under this Twitter. Some showed pity; some commented that they didn’t care and there were even some people who took pleasure in his death.

In the past, when he saw comments like that, he would definitely refute them, but now he didn’t have the mood to do that. What could he say? He wasn’t dead? And who would believe that?

“Larry isn’t dead. He will be back.”
