12. The Young Magician

Translator: Ann Yi

Larry was puzzled, but he believed in Murk more. He immediately turned around and left. However, the young man who had been talking to the security guard seemed to have sensed something the moment Larry turned around. He looked up in Larry’s direction, only to see a familiar darkness.

“Wait, buddy!” He didn’t know why he did that, but he felt that he had to stop Larry from walking away, or he would miss something important.

However, when Larry heard his voice, he seemed frightened and ran away.

Mirrocle scratched his head, wondering if he really looked like a villain.

“Sir, that person who ran in just now, do you know him?” The security guard should know everybody who lived here.

Hearing that question, the security guard became even angrier. “You liar! I said that you were a reporter and you refused to admit it. If you weren’t a reporter, you wouldn’t have asked such a question. Hurry up and leave.”

The security guard closed the window and abruptly stopped Mirrocle from saying whatever he intended to say.

Mirrocle looked at the community thoughtfully. He had never seen that young man before, but his aura was very familiar, quite similar to his own aura.

That was weird.

One person and one cat rushed into the house and before they could catch their breath, there was only a pile of clothes and a cat that had been thrown on the ground in the living room.

“Gering-ding-ding-ding-dingeringeding! (Luckily, we came back in time. Otherwise, tomorrow’s headline will be “A Human Transforms into A Fox in Broad Daylight! Do aliens really exist?”)”Larry tore at the clothes with his claws and pulled himself out.

Only when Larry came out did he realize that Murk wasn’t himself. Murk climbed onto the balcony silently and looked outside without saying a word.

Larry leaped onto the balcony with difficulty and looked where Murk was looking. It was the direction of the community gate. He then remembered how Murk had asked him to run away. “Ack-ack-ack? (What was that about?) ”

Murk looked at him melancholically and whispered, “Meow-aahh-ooohh! (It’s time to let you know about my past!)”

Larry felt that right now Murk looked especially like a gentleman at a bar who was trying to seduce a girl with made-up stories. All he needed was a cigarette in his hand and a glass of cocktail in front of him.

If he went to get some snacks now, would Murk think that he disrespected him? Forget it.

Larry’s trains of thought wandered freely, but his fox face didn’t reveal a single trace of emotion as he waited quietly for Murk to start talking.

“Meow~ (Actually…)” Murk was about to speak, but he found it so hard to speak it out loud. Could it be that the man used to be Murk’s owner? Larry thought to himself.

“Meow-meow-meow. (Actually he used to be my master.)”

Fra-kaka-kaka??? He really was Murk’s former owner.

Larry patted Murk’s head consolingly. Poor cat, let me bestow you love!

“Meow-meow!” (Why are you looking at me like that? It wasn’t what you think it was!) When Murk saw Larry’s gaze and his actions, he knew that he definitely got the wrong idea.

“Tchacha-chacha-chacha-chow! (Nope. It’s alright, bro. Forget about the old and embrace the new. Yesterday, he ignored you. Today, you’re way out of his league. Come on, Murk! You’re the best!)

Murk only knew that nothing in Larry’s mind was normal. “Meow-meow-meow. (What nonsense are you talking about? It was I who left him. He’s looking for me everywhere, got it? I can’t let him know that I’m here or he’ll be on top of the world.)”

‘Hmm? On top of the world? Is there something I’ve missed?’

Murk licked his claws out of boredom. “Meow-meow! (He’s your fan. If he knows I’m here with you, of course he would be on top of the world!)”

‘He is a fan of mine. Then he left those comments on Twitter probably because he couldn’t accept the fact that I am dead.’ Larry was a bit disappointed.

He flung his tail onto Murk’s face, “Wa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pow! (Then you are here to chase me for your master. I don’t like sasaeng fans, even if you’re a cat!)”

Murk didn’t dare to fight back. He could only take a step back and roll his eyes to express his disdain. He was black all over, and when he rolled his eyes he looked particularly frightening.

“Meow-meow-meow-meow. (You’re overthinking it. He used his magic to figure out that you are not dead, but I definitely didn’t come because of you. Tsk tsk, tsk, I really want to see the expression on his face when he found out that his idol had been neutered.)” Murk really didn’t expect that he would come across Larry. He also didn’t expect that the first fairy he met was someone he knew so much.

Larry was definitely an acquaintance to Murk. The house in which Murk used to live was filled with skin care products and cosmetics that Larry endorsed. Mirrocle was single and didn’t put effort into his appearance, but he had a room full of cosmetics. So it was impossible for Murk to forget who Larry was when Larry was a human.

Larry: …

“Hatee-hatee-hatee-ho! (If he finds out that his cat has been castrated, he will laugh happily.)” Come on,  if there was one thing that Larry had learned from all these years of catfights in the entertainment circle, it would be saying mean words.

“Ack-ackawoooo? (You said that he used magic to figure out I’m not dead?)” When he thought of these worrds, the disappointment in Larry’s heart turned into hope.

“Meow-meow-meow. (Are you so stupid? He wears a magician robe so he is a magician.)” Murk was really confused. Didn’t they say that those animals that became fairies were all brilliant? Then why was this fox so stupid?

‘I thought he just liked cosplay.’ Larry thought.

‘Is there still a magician in such a modern world? I have a fan who is a magician?’

Larry felt that it was even more surprising for him to have a magician fan than his revival in an animal’s dead body. He, the No.1 live-streaming makeup influencer in the industry, had a magician fan??? No matter how he thought about it, he felt it unbelievable.

“Fra-kaka. (Take me to him!)” As it was about his death, Larry felt that it was necessary for him to visit the magician at least three times, even if it meant that he would need to go to a magic school faraway like Hogwarts.

“Meow! (No!)” Murk had run away from that place. And he had a great time being a stray cat, but now he lost his balls and had to go back to face his former owner. He would feel shameful if he really had to do so.

Cats never meant what they said. Murk clearly missed his owner; yet he looked like he didn’t care. Larry could tell it by the way Murk lay on the balcony and looked outside just now.

“A-hee-aee-ha-hee! (Then let’s go there quietly and leave after one glance. We will never give him a chance to get close to you!)” ‘Yeah, just keep pretending, Murk. I know you clearly want to go!’

“Meow. (Just one glance.)” Murk thought that he was a cat of principle. No man ever stepped in the same river twice, and a good cat never missed its old master.

When Frost came back, he saw a bunch of clothes that were trampled and couldn’t be worn. He actually felt relieved and a little happy. His little pets were also naughty.

Larry walked in the living room as though nothing had happened. He pretended not to see the pile of cloth on the ground. Had he not torn the clothes apart, he would’ve been suffocated. He did that to save his life and he didn’t do it on purpose.

“Have you found him?”

“I’ve cast a Tracking Spell on that animal. She went to the human world two days ago and we can still keep track on her.”

“Go for it, but don’t act rashly.”

The white-robed elder waved his hand and the man disappeared from the empty hall.
